Really nice episode tonight, if it hadn't been for the intercutting scenes it could've almost been a 2 or three hander harking back to the old days of EastEnders, like they used too.
And there was some really nice writing for the older characters Pauline and Dot as well. What did you think?

I wish I'd seen it. I really hope my dad is taping the omnibuses for me. EE and Emmerdale seem to write better for their older characters and use them more than Corrie does.

It's nice to see Pauline finally happy. She was accused twice of 'smiling' by Martin - that's not something you see very often!
It was probably as Sonia said the question of S-E-X that made Pauline keep Joe at arm's length, but now she's decided to go along with it. When Jim and Dot got married it was the same thing: Jim thought he'd need some 'niagra', but in the end they decided it wasn't necessary to do all that at their age.
TV programmes are full of young lust, but it's not often that older characters have any storyline involving sex. Then again we were treated to the after-glow in Pat's bedroom as Patrick cowered under her duvet, summoning up strength for round 2 - we did NOT need to see THAT.

It was rather stomach churning wasn't it??? Not really suitable for pre-watershed TV! The whole P&P story has been a stupid so far.

This being a soap nobody is allowed to be happy for too long. Joe hinted at something he should have told Pauline, but has put it off until after the wedding. No sooner have they brushed the confetti out of their hair, and picked the broken glass out of their clothes (from the punch-up at the reception), but some problem or other will present itself at their door.

Some smelly old tramp bloke has turned up and Sonia and Martin just let him stay!!? Not very likely! I know Sonia wants to find reasons not to have sex with Martin - but this is ridiculous!

LOL Eithne!
Maybe Sonia prefers to have sex with the tramp, Pearly.

I totally agree with you pearly. While watching that I was thinking to myself just how stupid it was. How would you react if you came home to find a tramp in your house, who claimed to be a friend of your new step-father's? Would you not even ring the said step-father to check?

LOL Eithne! Maybe Sonia prefers to have sex with the tramp, Pearly. Patsy He is slightly more lively than Martin, it's true, but about as attractive as a used corn plaster. It seems this Bert is blackmailing Joe over something.

Who's Bert? I only started on the Emmerdale catch up yesterday so haven't seen any EE yet.

Bert is a rude, obnoxious Northener, who hates all t' southeners, who turned up looking like he's been sleeping rough for months and forced his way into Pauline's house, hinting to Joe that he will tell her certain things if they don't put him up for a while.

The Bert story is so boring! I really can't stand him. They couldn't let Joe & Pauline have more than a week of happy marraige!

Is Bert more than a friend of Joe's - he's obviously got some sort of hold over him - how he keeps persuading him and blackmailing him is awful - I think there's more to it than just Bert being a rude Northerner...............

Bert said something like 'I've been away...' maybe Bert and Joe were in the nick together?

I was thinking that maybe Joe and Bert were a couple and in a relationship!! We'll just have to wait and see - Bert or Joe weren't in yesterdays episode and I was hoping they would be to find out a little more................
