Part 1
Gallifrey. Home of the Time Lords. A race of geniuses who observed the cosmos and its species but never interferred in any intergalactic trouble. The planet was completely uninvadible unless there was inside help like when the Doctor's fourth incarnation let in the Vardans, then inadvertantly allowed the Sontarans through the hole he had created. Or so they thought....
Meanwhile, in the Tardis, the Doctor was bust concentrating while Ace was bored stiff. She reached for a button and he slapped her hand.
ACE----------Oi! DOCTOR----Don't touch that! ACE----------You hit me. DOCTOR----And you shouldn't mess around with things you don't understand. ACE----------If you weren't over 900 years old I'd- DOCTOR----Hit me right back? ACE----------How did you know? DOCTOR----I'd do the same in your position. And anyway, what's my age got to do with anything? ACE----------You're old. DOCTOR----Middle-aged. ACE----------Whatever you call it Professor, you're still older than me. DOCTOR----Ah, but because you were born centuries before I was, technically you're older than me. ACE----------Rubbish! DOCTOR----Is it? Let's see. Forty-six minus twenty - we'll forget the individual years -is twenty six, so that makes you twenty six centuries older, give or take a few decades. ACE----------Knock it off, Professor. DOCTOR----I was 350 years old when I left Gallifrey in the forty ninth century, Ace. ACE---------So, going backwards in time should make you younger, right? DOCTOR----Wrong. ACE----------Why? DOCTOR----Because, if that were the case, I would simply disappear. Cease to exist. ACE----------Sometimes I wish you would. DOCTOR----Ah, but if that happened, you'd still be stranded on Ice World, and the Daleks, Cybermen, Master and all the other evil would rule the galaxies. ACE----------Oh. That doesn't tell me why I shouldn't press that button. DOCTOR----Because, if you did, we'd end up on the ceiling and I wouldn't be able to control the Tardis. ACE----------You can't control it now. DOCTOR----I do my best. ACE----------So, what's it for, Professor? DOCTOR----Travelling through time and space. ACE----------The button! DOCTOR----Oh, that? It's only the gravity control. ACE----------Oh. Well I wish you'd tell me what's what, Professor. DOCTOR----I just did. Now, finish your apple and let me concentrate.
On Gallifrey, something unexpected had happened. Someone had invaded.
PRESIDENT---What do you want here? MAN---------I only want one thing from you, Time Lord. PRESIDENT---And that is? MAN---------The Doctor! PRESIDENT---Just him? MAN---------Yes. Once I have him, I will leave your pathetic megalomaniac world. PRESIDENT---Megalomaniac?! We're no such thing. MAN---------You want supreme power of the universe, but you never use it. PRESIDENT---That doesn't make us a bunch of megalomaniacs. MAN---------Semi-megalomaniac then. It's still power. Now, the Doctor. PRESIDENT---What do you want him for? MAN---------That is no business of yours. Let's just say, I owe him something. PRESIDENT---Which particular Doctor do you want? MAN---------How many are there? PRESIDENT---Seven. MAN---------Really? Well at first, I only wanted his fourth and fifth incarnations. But, on second thoughts, it would be good to have them all. PRESIDENT---Why all of them? MAN---------So he can see himself being killed, of course. Now, get him! PRESIDENT---Any particular order? MAN---------No. We'll begin with the nearest one. PRESIDENT---I'll need to consult the timestreams. MAN---------Then get on with it! Oh, and do make sure they don't land in the same place. PRESIDENT---I'll do my best. MAN---------And do not cross me, Time Lord. If you tell anyone of my presence or plan, I will not hesitate to destroy you.
Back in the Tardis, a light started flashing and the cloister bell rang, which made the Doctor worry and Ace dart back to the console room.
ACE----------What's going on, Professor? DOCTOR----I'm not sure. ACE----------What's that loud banging? DOCTOR----The cloister bell. It means impending doom and gloom. ACE----------Just like, "News at Ten". DOCTOR----That's not funny Ace. This is serious. ACE----------Sorry. So? DOCTOR----I've had a message. ACE----------From who? DOCTOR----Whom. From Gallifrey. ACE----------What's the problem? DOCTOR----Last time I received a message from there, the Master tried to have me killed. ACE----------So you think he's at it again? DOCTOR----I wish I knew. ACE----------Why don't you just ignore it? DOCTOR----You can't ignore a summons, Ace. It's not like a gas bill. ACE----------What? You mean the Time Lords rip you off an' all? DOCTOR----Be serious. ACE----------So, what ya gonna do, Professor? DOCTOR----(sighs) What can I do? I have to go. ACE----------Just like that? DOCTOR----(bitterly) Just like that. They've even given me landing co-ordinates. ACE----------What do they want with you? DOCTOR----I wish I knew. ACE----------Perhaps they're in trouble. DOCTOR----Or perhaps it's a trap. Mind you, I haved saved them several times from disaster and they know I can be trusted. ACE----------Let's hope that's all they want you for. DOCTOR----Yes. And it would be nice to see Leela and Andred again. And, of course, K9. ACE----------Who are they? DOCTOR----Leela? A savage who used to travel with me a few regenerations ago. She stayed and married Andred, a guard who was trying to kill me. ACE----------Seems everyone wants to kill you, Professor. DOCTOR----Not everyone, Ace. She was very good with a knife. ACE----------Really? DOCTOR----Yes. You and she would get on very well. As long as you don't give her any nitro-nine. ACE----------Promise. DOCTOR----And don't use any on Gallifrey. ACE----------As if (!) Who's this K9? DOCTOR----My dog. ACE----------You had a dog? DOCTOR----Oh, not a real one. K9 was a computer. He stayed with Leela and his replacement stayed with Romana. ACE----------Who's- DOCTOR----A Time Lord. Or Lady. You ask too many questions, Ace. ACE----------And you keep telling me I need to be educated. DOCTOR----If you don't ask, you don't learn. ACE----------Yes, Professor. DOCTOR----Come on. Let's get this over with.
He set the co-ordinates and headed off to his home planet.
While this was happening, Doctor number 4 was sitting in the corner of the console room playing with his yo-yo and eating jelly babies, after having already set the co-ordinates for their next destination.
K9------------Master? DOCTOR----Yes, K9? K9------------Where are we heading? DOCTOR----I thought we'd have a little holiday. K9------------I am a computer, and computers do not need a holiday. DOCTOR----Everybody needs a holiday. K9------------What happens there? DOCTOR----Oh, I thought I might do a little fishing to start with. Have you ever gone fishing, K9? K9------------Fishing for what? DOCTOR----Fish! K9------------That is an impossibility, master. DOCTOR----I think your predecessor went fishing. K9------------Predecessor? Insufficient data. DOCTOR----Your other self, K9. (thinks) Other self? I could be talking about me. Odd. K9------------Yes, master? DOCTOR----How very odd. K9------------Insufficient data. DOCTOR----Now, what made me think of that? K9------------Insufficient data. DOCTOR----What? Look K9, you are, now how can I put this? You are like a son. K9------------Son. Offspring of two different sexed species. DOCTOR----Well, not quite like that. You are, K9 mark two. K9------------Master? DOCTOR----Look (crouches), K9 went off to live with Leela. K9------------Leela? DOCTOR----Yes, Leela. A girl who was here before you. K9------------Master? DOCTOR----K9 and Leela stayed on Gallifrey. K9------------Gallifrey. Small planet in the constellation of Kasterborous. DOCTOR----I do know that. I was born there! K9------------Master? DOCTOR----Oh dear. Stop analysing everything for a minute and please listen. K9------------Master? DOCTOR----K9 and Leela left me. K9------------But I am still here, master. DOCTOR----Not you! The [/i]other[/i] K9! K9------------Master? DOCTOR----I made you from a blueprint of K9's circuitry before they left in case they ever did go. Therefore, technically, that makes you K9 junior. Now do you understand? K9------------Master? DOCTOR----Why did I ever start this ridiculous conversation? K9------------Insufficient data, Master. DOCTOR----Never mind, K9. Just forget it. K9------------Information wiped from my memory banks. DOCTOR----What? Oh, why can't I have someone intelligent to talk to? K9------------You have me, master. DOCTOR----Quite. K9------------Master? DOCTOR----What is it now? K9------------We appear to have arrived. DOCTOR----(looks round) Have we? Good! Now perhaps I'll be able to have some peace and quiet.
He went to the console and opened the door.
DOCTOR----Coming, K9? K9------------Master.

Part 2
On Gallifrey, the invader's little scheme seemed to be working, much to the disgust of the Lord President.
MAN---------Has he arrived? PRESIDENT---Yes. MAN---------Where is he? PRESIDENT---Level twelve. MAN---------Which one is he? PRESIDENT---The sixth regeneration. MAN---------Good. Who is next?
---------------------------------------
ACE----------Well, Professor? DOCTOR----I'm thinking. ACE----------We can't stay here all day. DOCTOR----The cloister bell's still ringing. ACE----------So? DOCTOR----So, it means there's still danger around somewhere. ACE----------Then let's go and find it. DOCTOR----(sighs) I suppose we'd better. ACE----------Yeah. Preferably before it finds us. DOCTOR----I've just thought. ACE----------I thought that's what you were doing. DOCTOR----If the Time Lords sent the message, where are they? ACE----------Good question. DOCTOR----Ace! You don't even know what a Time Lord looks like. ACE----------Yes I do. I've met you and the Master, remember. DOCTOR----They don't look like that. They wear different coloured robes. ACE----------Then it's a trap? DOCTOR----Could be. ACE----------Well, we'll never find out this way (opens doors). Come on. DOCTOR----(sighs) Might as well. Where's your nitro-nine? ACE----------In my room, Professor. DOCTOR----(suspiciously) I hope so.
In the Tardis, Doctor number 5, Turlough and Tegan were resting after their confrontation with the Malus on earth.
TEGAN-------I'm really sorry, Doctor. DOCTOR----It's not your fault, Tegan. TEGAN-------Yes it is. If I hadn't wanted to visit my grandfather, none of this would have happened. DOCTOR----Why don't you just look on it as a good thing? TEGAN-------How? DOCTOR----Now it's destroyed, countless lives have been saved. TEGAN-------I suppose you're right. DOCTOR----I know I am. Trust me. TEGAN-------Don't I always? DOCTOR----Good girl.
Suddenly the Tardis shook and sent them all crashing to the floor.
-----------------------------------
PRESIDENT---I have complete control of the time capsule now. MAN---------Excellent! Bring it in. PRESIDENT---Where would you like me to land it? MAN---------Wherever the space is the largest. PRESIDENT---That would be the Panopticon. MAN---------Then that would do very nicely for my purposes. PRESIDENT---What shall we do with him when he's arrived? MAN---------Nothing. PRESIDENT---Nothing at all? MAN---------What can he do with locked doors? PRESIDENT---Locked? MAN---------Yes. And make sure that whatever means he uses to try and open them, they stay firmly shut. Understood? PRESIDENT---Perfectly.
--------------------------------------------
TURLOUGH---What's happening, Doctor? DOCTOR----The Tardis is being controlled. TEGAN-------Do you have any idea where we're going? DOCTOR----No. I'll check the co-ordinates. TURLOUGH---Well? DOCTOR----I don't believe it! TEGAN-------Doctor? DOCTOR----We're going to Gallifrey. TEGAN-------Gallifrey? TURLOUGH---Isn't that your home? DOCTOR----Yes it was. Once. TURLOUGH---Can't you change the co-ordinates? DOCTOR----I'm afraid not. I wonder why we're going there?
Inside the Tardis, the sixth Doctor and Peri were relaxing after their little trip to reality.
PERI---------Are we nearly there, Doctor? DOCTOR----Very nearly. Only another few minutes or so. PERI---------Is it really nice there? DOCTOR----It's marvellous. So peaceful and relaxing. PERI---------Anywhere's better than reality Earth. DOCTOR----Yes. PERI---------Doctor? DOCTOR----Mmm? PERI---------What happened to that man Waters and the other one? DOCTOR----What do you mean? PERI---------Well, I know the Master killed them- DOCTOR----Ah, but did he? PERI---------Well he must have done to take control like that. DOCTOR----Perhaps, when we jettisoned ourselves back into this world, they became alive again. PERI---------Do you really think so? DOCTOR----It's possible. PERI---------And the Master? DOCTOR----Ah. well, on that sore point, I'm not too sure. PERI---------So he could be back around here somewhere too? DOCTOR----It's possible. Ah, we seem to have arrived. PERI---------I hope it is like you say it is, Doctor. DOCTOR----Trust me. Now, where did I put my fishing rods? PERI---------We're going fishing? DOCTOR----Why not? Very relaxing. PERI---------For you, maybe. What about me? DOCTOR----I'm sure you'll find something to do while I'm by the stream. Found them! Come on.
In the Tardis, Doctor number one, Ian, Barbara and Vicki were too relaxing after their lucky escape from the Space Museum.
DOCTOR----Phew! Well that was a very close thing, hmm? BARBARA---Too close. IAN-----------I'm glad we got it all sorted out in the end. VICKI--------So am I. Just looking at ourselves like that made me nervous. IAN-----------Where to next, Doctor? Or is it pot luck time again? DOCTOR----"Pot luck"?! Well, I suppose it is in a way, hmm (chuckles)? BARBARA---Well, I don't care we it is as long as I get cleaned up before I have another gun in my face. Us girls must look our best, you know. VICKI--------(posh) How very ture. Come along Barbara (leaves). IAN-----------(laughs) Those two. DOCTOR----Quite so, quite so. Hello. What's this? IAN-----------Looks like some sort of flashing light to me, Doctor. DOCTOR----Oh, very amusing (!) Really Chesserman, you could start to pay attention to the workings of the Ship. IAN-----------Chesterton! DOCTOR----What is? IAN-----------My name. Ian Chesterton. DOCTOR----I know what your name is. I'm not a half-wit. IAN-----------(mumbles) Sometimes I wonder. DOCTOR----What was that? IAN-----------Nothing, Doctor. DOCTOR----Oh, yes it was. I may be over 350 years old young man, but my hearing is as sharp as my wits. IAN-----------Whatever you say, Doctor. DOCTOR----I know. IAN-----------So what's it all about, Doctor? DOCTOR----What? IAN-----------The flashing light. DOCTOR----It's a telepathic message, sent through the Tardis' communications unit to me. IAN-----------Who's it from? DOCTOR----(bluntly) Gallifrey! IAN-----------Gallifrey? DOCTOR----The cheek! IAN-----------What do they want you for? DOCTOR----Probably to punish me for leaving. IAN-----------Or for arriving and leaving the last time. DOCTOR----Last time? IAN-----------When we rescued Susan from that Master bloke. DOCTOR----Oh yes. I'd forgotton about that. IAN-----------I hadn't. DOCTOR----No. Humans never do. IAN-----------I don't suppose Susan has forgotton, either Doctor. DOCTOR----No. I don't suppose she has. IAN-----------So, what are you going to do? DOCTOR----Do? IAN-----------About Gallifrey? Are we going or not? DOCTOR----Well, it is a summons.... But I daren't risk it! (goes to console) IAN-----------What are you doing? DOCTOR----Trying to pull the Tardis away from our present course. IAN-----------Can you do that? DOCTOR----I sincerely hope so.
------------------------------------------
MAN---------He's trying to get away! Stop him, you fool! PRESIDENT---I'll try. MAN---------And land him on a different level. Hurry!
To be continued....

Part 3
In the Tardis, Doctor number 3 was busy singing his Venusian lullaby to himself to take his mind off Jo's leaving. His concentration was interrupted by the door to the console room opening. He crept over to beside the door and was just about to perform his Venusian aikido on the intruder, when the stowaway turned and faced him.
DOCTOR----My dear Brigadier. BRIGADIER---Doctor! DOCTOR----What are you doing here? I thought I'd left you at Jo's party. BRIGADIER---You did, but that was yesterday. DOCTOR----I'd already left by then. BRIGADIER---I know. We noticed Bessie was missing. DOCTOR----Earth! BRIGADIER---Earth, what? DOCTOR----I left Earth! BRIGADIER---I know. Why? DOCTOR----Because I wanted to be on my own for a bit. BRIGADIER---Is that why you just left the party, without saying a word? DOCTOR----(nods) I was very fond of Jo. She reminded me of my granddaughter. BRIGADIER---You've got a granddaughter? DOCTOR----Well, don't look so surprised. I am, after all, over 700 years old so it was bound to happen sooner or later. BRIGADIER---Quite so, Doctor. DOCTOR----That still doesn't explain what you're doing here, Brigadier. BRIGADIER---I wish I could explain it, Doctor. DOCTOR----Well, try. BRIGADIER---I was on my way to my office after getting back from Wales this morning. DOCTOR----Well, go on. BRIGADIER---I opened the door, went in and came out here. DOCTOR----That's very strange. BRIGADIER---I've spent hours roaming about. This place is bigger than it looks. DOCTOR----That's because it's dimensionally transcendental. BRIGADIER---What? DOCTOR----It's bigger on the inside. BRIGADIER---Oh. Well, I knew instantly where I was. DOCTOR----How? BRIGADIER---I recognised the indented circles. So, I tried to find my way here. DOCTOR----You could have been in the Master's Tardis, you know. BRIGADIER---I hadn't thought of that. So, what now? DOCTOR----Now Brigadier, we must try and get you home. BRIGADIER---Good. no offence, Doctor, but I do prefer my feet on terra firma. DOCTOR----None taken. Oh dear. BRIGADIER---What? DOCTOR----See that flashing light? BRIGADIER---Yes. What does it mean? DOCTOR----It means the trip home is postponed. BRIGADIER---Why? DOCTOR----Because I've had a summons and I have to obey. BRIGADIER---Where are we going then? DOCTOR----Gallifrey.
-----------------------------------------
DOCTOR----Caught anything yet, K9? K9------------Master? DOCTOR----I said, have you caught anything? K9------------Negative. DOCTOR----I have. K9------------Negative, Master. The jamjar is empty. DOCTOR----Not fish. A cold! K9------------Master? DOCTOR----What now, K9? K9------------I still maintain I heard the noise of a Tardis. DOCTOR----Nonsense, K9. There's nobody here but us fishermen. And fisherdogs. K9------------Negative, master. DOCTOR----What do you mean, "negative"? We're the only ones here. K9------------Negative. There are two strangers approaching.
The Doctor pulled his hat over his eyes.
DOCTOR----Oh, rubbish. Go back to sleep, K9.
--------------------------------------
PERI---------I thought you said there's be no one else here. DOCTOR----There shouldn't be. PERI---------But there's a man and a tin dog over there. DOCTOR----Tin dog? Let me see. A-ha! PERI---------Do you know them? DOCTOR----Well, well, well. Fancy that. PERI---------Doctor? DOCTOR----K9 (smiles). K9 and.... Wait a minute. PERI---------What? DOCTOR----That shouldn't happen. PERI---------What shouldn't? DOCTOR----I'm going to put a stop to this, right now!
Peri watched the Doctor march up to the man slouched in the chair and tap him on the shoulder, then noticed something appear from the tin dog's nose and ran over to them.
PERI---------DOCTOR! LOOK OUT!
At that point, the man in his chair removed his hat and looked up at the stranger in the multi-coloured coat. Luckily, K9 didn't fire because his sensors recognised him. The stranger noticed Peri, tipped his hat, put it back on his head and gave a toothy smile.
PERI---------Doctor? DOCTORS 4 & 6---Yes? PERI---------Doctor? DOCTORS 4 & 6---Yes? PERI---------Will you stop playing games. DOCTORS 4 & 6---Who's playing games?
Peri tugged her Doctor's sleeve.
PERI---------What is this, a double act? DOCTOR 6---Something like that. Why did you shout? PERI---------That tin thing was going to shoot you. DOCTOR 6---What, K9? You wouldn't shoot your master, would you boy, eh?
He patted K9's head, who then wagged its tail.
K9------------Negative. DOCTOR 6---There you are. PERI---------I-I don't understand. I thought the dog was with him. DOCTOR 4---He is. DOCTOR 6---Yes. And what exactly are you doing here? DOCTOR 4---Fishing. It's one of my.... our favourite sports. Now you know what I'm doing, how about you? DOCTOR 6---I thought I'd do a spot of fishing too. DOCTOR 4---Well, isn't that an amazing coincidence? DOCTOR 6---Isn't it though (?) DOCTOR 4---Great mind think alike. PERI---------Don't you mean, minds? DOCTOR 4---I know what I mean. I see my taste in female companions has greatly improved. DOCTOR 6---After Tegan. DOCTOR 4---And my dress sense has declined. DOCTOR 6---That is a matter of opinion. DOCTOR 4---Yes. Mine. Look, why don't you find somewhere else to fish, mm? DOCTOR 6---Why don't you? DOCTOR 4---Because I was here first. In both senses. DOCTOR 6---Well, now it's my turn. Also in [/i]both[/i] senses. DOCTOR 4---What about the first law of time? DOCTOR 6---What about it? DOCTOR 4---Well, seeing as I'm here, [/i]you[/i] shouldn't be. DOCTOR 6---That's hardly my fault. PERI---------Doctor? DOCTORS 4 & 6---Yes? PERI---------Don't start that again. DOCTOR 6---What is it, Peri? DOCTOR 4---Oh, Peri, is it? I'm very pleased to meet you Peri. What's it short for? PERI---------Perpugilliam Brown. DOCTOR 4---No wonder you shortened it. PERI---------What's it to you anyway? DOCTOR 6---Peri! Don't talk to me like that. DOCTOR 4---Thank you. PERI---------I wasn't talking to you, Doctor. DOCTOR 4---Yes, you were. PERI---------I was talking to you! DOCTOR 4---Same thing. PERI---------No, it isn't! Doctor.... My Doctor! DOCTOR 4---But I am your Doctor. PERI---------The one in the stupid coat! DOCTOR 4---She means you, I think. DOCTOR 6---What is it, Peri? PERI---------Would you please tell me what's going on? DOCTOR 6---What would you like to know? PERI---------Who he is, for a start. You obviously know each other. DOCTOR 4---You could say that. PERI---------Shut up! DOCTOR 4---I'll let you explain then, shall I? DOCTOR 6---He's someone from my past. PERI---------Like the Master? DOCTOR 4---(insulted) Certainly not! DOCTOR 6---I thought you were going to let me explain. DOCTOR 4---Sorry (!) DOCTOR 6---Peri, please don't ever compare me to the Master again. PERI---------I didn't! DOCTOR 4---Oh yes you did. DOCTOR 6---Look Peri, it's quite simple. So simple even your American brain should be able to understand if you concentrate. DOCTOR 4---She's from Earth, then. DOCTOR 6---I'm afraid so. DOCTOR 4---Don't like Americans much. Whinge all the time. DOCTOR 6---How true. But they're not as bad as Australians, especially Tegan. DOCTOR 4---Who's Tegan? DOCTOR 6---Oh, of course, you haven't met her yet. PERI---------Doctor, please. DOCTOR 4---Go ahead. DOCTOR 6---Thank you. Peri, he is me. PERI---------I don't understand. DOCTOR 4---So much for her brain (!) PERI---------Shut up you! DOCTOR 6---Look, you know all about regeneration. PERI---------I should do. I was there when you turned into you. DOCTOR 4---How ghastly for you. PERI---------What was? DOCTOR 4---Seeing my other persona change into that! PERI---------Your other persona? DOCTOR 4---Oops. Sorry. It hasn't happened yet, has it? PERI---------What hasn't? DOCTOR 4---My regeneration. What was I like? DOCTOR 6---Sicklier than you are now. PERI---------Doctor? DOCTOR 6---This, creature- DOCTOR 4---Now, now. There's no need to insult yourself. DOCTOR 6---If I may continue? PERI---------Him, yes? DOCTOR 6---He was the unfortunate accident- DOCTOR 4---(stands) "Unfortunate accident"?! DOCTOR 6---Sorry. Wrong choice of words. The result- DOCTOR 4---That's better (sits). PERI---------The result? DOCTOR 6---The result of my third regeneration. PERI---------I still don't understand. When I first met you, you were- DOCTOR 4---Sweet and sickly? PERI---------(ignores him) So nice and kind. DOCTOR 6---Yes I was, wasn't I? DOCTOR 4---Do I detect the sickly aroma of an ego creeping in? DOCTOR 6---Well as I remember rightly, yours was bigger than mine is now. DOCTOR 4---Isn't jealousy a wonderful thing? DOCTOR 6---(ignores him) And that was my fourth regeneration. PERI---------And now you're on your fifth? DOCTOR 6---That's right. DOCTOR 4---Go ahead, ignore me. I don't care. I'll just sit here and fish. PERI---------You mean, sulk. DOCTOR 4---I mean, fish! PERI---------Sulk! DOCTOR 4---Don't you talk to me like that. You're not Sarah-Jane, you know. PERI---------Who? DOCTOR 6---An irritating scream-ball who acted worse than Victoria. DOCTOR 4---Are you sure? DOCTOR 6---Positive. DOCTOR 4---(thinks) Yes. You could be right. Irritating scream-ball! Still, I was quite fond of her. DOCTOR 6---Yes, I know. PERI---------So, you two are each other? DOCTOR 6---That's right. You've got it. DOCTOR 4---Seems she does have a brain in her head, after all. PERI---------Thank you(!) DOCTOR 4---(smiles) Pleasure. PERI---------So, if you're the same person, how come you're here together? DOCTOR 4---Good question. See if you can answer that, smarty pants. DOCTOR 6---Obviously we both had the same idea at the same time. DOCTOR 4---Where were you then? DOCTOR 6---When? DOCTOR 4---When you had this holiday idea. DOCTOR 6---We'd just left Earth. DOCTOR 4---Ha! Beat you! DOCTOR 6---Where were you then? DOCTOR 4---I'd just left Gallifrey and Leela. DOCTOR 6---Oh. PERI---------What does that mean? DOCTOR 6---It means- DOCTOR 4---It means, Peri, that I thought of coming here before he did. PERI---------How come? DOCTOR 6---Because Gallifrey is nearer than Earth. PERI---------Oh. So what now? DOCTOR 4---Bye, bye Doctor! DOCTOR 6---All right, I'm going. DOCTOR 4---I'll enjoy my fish. K9------------Master? DOCTORS 4 & 6---What is it, K9? DOCTOR 4---He's my dog! DOCTOR 6---And he's mine. PERI---------Honestly! Arguing over a tin animal. DOCTOR 4---A very sensitive tin animal, Peri! K9, whose dog are you, eh? Mine or his? K9------------Both, master. DOCTOR 6---Ha! What is it, K9? K9------------Warning. Telepathic communication in the Tardis. DOCTORS 4 & 6---Whose Tardis? K9------------Both of them. PERI---------Is it important? K9------------Urgent. PERI---------Well, come on then Doctor (grabs his sleeve). DOCTOR 6---I'm coming! DOCTOR 4---Goodbye, sweet Peri. PERI---------Er, goodbye, Doctor. DOCTOR 6---See you, K9. Look after me, won't you? K9------------Affirmative. DOCTOR 4---Aren't you going to say goodbye to yourself? DOCTOR 6---I said goodbye to myself two regenerations ago. (leaves) DOCTOR 4---Come on K9. Back to the Tardis. K9------------Master.
K9 followed Doctor 4, while Peri literally dragged Doctor 6 to the Tardis. They took off first and headed for Gallifrey. Unknown to them, Doctor 4 and K9 were heading in the same direction.

Part 4
In the Tardis, Doctor 2 and Jamie were relaxing after their brush with the Quarrymonsters.
JAMIE--------Where to now, Doctor? DOCTOR----Somewhere nice and safe this time, Jamie. JAMIE--------Safe? Where's safe in the universe? DOCTOR----Oh, there are quite a few places. JAMIE--------Are we going there, then? DOCTOR----Er, well, no actually. JAMIE--------Now why does nae that surprise me (?) DOCTOR----Now, don't be like that, Jamie. How about a little music to pass the time? JAMIE--------Aye, like what? DOCTOR----Let me find my recorder and I'll play something. JAMIE--------That's all I need (!) Er, Doctor? DOCTOR----You know where it is? JAMIE--------No. DOCTOR----Then don't disturb me until I find it. JAMIE--------But that wee light's flashing. DOCTOR----What?! Why didn't you tell me before? JAMIE--------I tried, but all you were bothered about was your wee flute. DOCTOR----It's not a flute! JAMIE--------Whatever. So, is there something wrong with the Tardis again? DOCTOR----No there is not! The Tardis is in perfect working order! JAMIE--------Aye? DOCTOR----Well, just about. JAMIE--------So what is it? DOCTOR----A message. JAMIE--------I cannae hear anything. DOCTOR----That's because it's communicated telepathically. JAMIE--------Eh? DOCTOR----Through the mind. It doesn't surprise me you don't understand. JAMIE--------Who's it from? DOCTOR----My people. JAMIE--------Are we going there then? DOCTOR----We most certainly are not! JAMIE--------Why? If they're your clan, what's the trouble? DOCTOR----There are reasons. Hold on Jamie!
----------------------------------
MAN---------Get them back! PRESIDENT---I'm doing the best I can. MAN---------Then do better! Bring them to me! PRESIDENT---Got them. MAN---------Good. Is that all of them now? PRESIDENT---Yes. MAN---------And they haven't landed in the same place? PRESIDENT---No. MAN---------How can you be so sure? PRESIDENT---Because, apart from the fifth incarnation, I gave them all different co-ordinates. MAN---------The seventh is on level twelve and the fifth is locked in this Panopticon. PRESIDENT---Yes. MAN---------He's still locked in, I hope. PRESIDENT---I've placed a small force field around his time capsule. MAN---------Excellent! Where are the others? PRESIDENT---The second is about to land on level forty three, the third is on level sixteen. The first is on level three, the sixth is on level thirty seven and the fouth is on level twenty nine. MAN---------You have done well. Let us hope for your and your species' sake, they find each other at the Panopticon.
------------------------------------
ACE----------So, this is where you live eh, Professor. DOCTOR----Where I used to live Ace. ACE----------Oh yeah. Before you nicked a Tardis and buggered off. DOCTOR----I didn't "nick" it. ACE----------No (?) DOCTOR----No. I borrowed it. ACE----------And when were you planning on giving it back? DOCTOR----Er, eventually. ACE----------When, Professor? DOCTOR----It's all irrelevant anyway now Ace. ACE----------Why? DOCTOR----Because they've forgiven me. ACE----------Are you sure? DOCTOR----Positively positive. ACE----------How can you be certain? DOCTOR----Because they'd have taken my Tardis away from me after they regenerated me and exiled me on your miserable little planet. ACE---------Oh. DOCTOR----Now be quiet and follow me. If it is a trap we don't want to let them know we're here. ACE----------Right Professor. What was that? DOCTOR----I heard nothing. ACE----------It sounded like the Tardis. DOCTOR----Nonsense Ace. Probably just your imagination. ACE----------I hope so. DOCTOR----Come on. ACE----------Where we going? DOCTOR----Where are we going? ACE----------That's what I asked you. DOCTOR----To the Panopticon. ACE----------What's that when it's at home? DOCTOR----It's where the best minds on the planet gather. ACE----------They've got no heads?! DOCTOR----Of course they've got heads. All right, it's where the cleverest Time Lords meet. ACE----------So what you going there for (?) DOCTOR----Very funny, Ace. Come on. ACE----------Gloomy place. Poo city! DOCTOR----I know. ACE----------I just hope there aren't any Daleks or Cybermen lurking around the corner. DOCTOR----So do I. let's take the lift.
--------------------------------
DOCTOR----Here we are, Brigadier. BRIGADIER---This is your home planet? DOCTOR----Yes. Depressing, isn't it? BRIGADIER---I don't know. I've seen worse. DOCTOR----So have I, Brigadier. BRIGADIER---Still, I can see where you got your taste in clothes from. DOCTOR----Here? Oh no, Brigadier. Their dress sense is abysmal. BRIGADIER---If you say so, Doctor. Right, where to now? DOCTOR----The Panopticon, I think. BRIGADIER---The, where? DOCTOR----You could call it a Time Lord social club. BRIGADIER---I see. DOCTOR----We'll go by lift, I think. BRIGADIER---It seems to be already coming in our direction. DOCTOR----Probably the Lord President on his way to greet us. Smile, Brigadier.
The lift door opened and the Brigadier followed the Doctor inside.
BRIGADIER---Where to now, Doctor? DOCTORS 3 & 7---The Panopticon. DOCTOR 3---Jumping Jehosophat! DOCTOR 7---What are you doing here? ACE----------Professor? DOCTOR 3---I was sent for. DOCTOR 7---So was I. BRIGADIER---Would somebody please tell me what's going on? ACE----------Yeah. I'd like to know that an'all. DOCTOR 3---Oh, excuse me my dear. I'm afraid we haven't been introduced. I'm the Doctor. ACE----------You can't be! Professor? DOCTOR 7---I'm rather afraid he is, Ace. BRIGADIER---And who might you be? DOCTOR 7---I'm the Doctor. DOCTOR 3---Which regeneration? DOCTOR 7---Sixth. BRIGADIER---So, there's seven of you now. DOCTOR 7---Yes. BRIGADIER---Good lord! ACE----------Who's this ponce, Professor? DOCTOR 3---"Ponce"?! DOCTOR 7---Me Ace! I've already told you that. ACE----------I know you have, but which one of you? DOCTOR 3---Third, my dear. ACE----------Blimey, Professor! Did you really look like that? DOCTOR 7---I'm afraid I did. Luckily, my dress sense has improved a great deal since then. DOCTOR 3---So, you're what we look like in the future. DOCTOR 7---Yes. DOCTOR 3---Don't like it much. DOCTOR 7---Well, I didn't like it much when I looked like you! DOCTOR 3---So, what did the message say? DOCTOR 7---To get here as soon as possible because the whole fabric of time is in danger. DOCTOR 3---Same. And you thought of heading for the Panopticon? DOCTOR 7---Yes. That must be the key to it all. BRIGADIER---They must be pretty desperate to get you together again. DOCTOR 3---Perhaps. DOCTOR 7---You think the same as me? DOCTOR 3---I should do. We have the same brain you know. DOCTOR 7---How could I forget (?) ACE----------If my brain was diluted like yours, things'd slip my mind too. DOCTOR 7---Ace! BRIGADIER---I think we should leave them to it, young lady. When the Doctors are together there's no chance of getting any sense out of them. ACE----------So I see. Professor? DOCTOR 7---What is it? Can't you see I'm in deep coversation with myself? ACE----------Must be the only place in the universe you don't get locked up for talking to yourself, Brigadier. Talk about split personalities. DOCTOR 7---Do you want me or not Ace? ACE----------Yes. DOCTOR 7---Well? ACE----------The lift's stopped. DOCTOR 3---And about time too. BRIGADIER---Where to now? DOCTORS 3 & 7---(points) The Panopticon! Follow me. DOCTOR 7---(points) Follow me. ACE----------He's completely bonkers! BRIGADIER---All of him obviously are. Come on. we don't want to get left behind. ACE----------Or kidnapped.

Part 5
PERI---------Where to now, Doctor? DOCTOR----I should think, the Panopticon. And before you ask, it's where members of the High Council meet. PERI---------Do you think we'll bump into that horrible man again? DOCTOR----You seem to forget, that "horrible man" is me. PERI---------All right then, do you think we'll bump into you again? DOCTOR----I shouldn't think so. Come on. This way, I think. PERI---------You think? Don't you know? DOCTOR----Well it's been a while sice I was last here and they've redecorated the place. We'll try down here, okay? PERI---------Whatever you say, Doctor.
---------------------------------------
IAN-----------Where are we going, Doctor? DOCTOR----Well, I thought we'd start at the Panopticon. IAN------------Why there? DOCTOR----Hopefully, there's someone there who can tell us why we've been brought here. BARBARA---Can't we use the lift? DOCTOR----Too risky. BARBARA---Why? DOCTOR----Because if it's some sort of trap like I suspect, that's what we're expected to use, hmm. IAN------------And they could be waiting for us inside? DOCTOR----Exactly. That's why we must use the stairs. Come on. It's not much farther.
--------------------------------------
PERI---------Are we nearly there, Doctor? My feet are killing me. DOCTOR----Not far now. PERI---------You said that two hours ago! DOCTOR----I'm beginning to think I was right about Americans whinging too much. PERI---------He said that, not you. DOCTOR----You keep forgetting Peri, he and I are the same person. PERI---------Oh yeah. DOCTOR----Hello! PERI---------Hello. DOCTOR----Was that meant to be funny? PERI---------You said it first. DOCTOR----And with good reason Peri, look (points). PERI---------It's only an old man with a couple of other people. DOCTOR----It's my past, Peri. PERI---------Not another one! DOCTOR----Indeed it is. PERI---------Which one this time, dare I ask? DOCTOR----My pre-regeneration incarnation. PERI---------You looked like that? DOCTOR----I wouldn't have said it if it weren't true. PERI---------I can't believe it. DOCTOR----Believe it, Peri. And believe something else; there's something very peculiar afoot here. PERI---------What is it? DOCTOR----Isn't it obvious? PERI---------Not really. DOCTOR----Think Peri. First, we met my fourth persona and now my first. Coincidence? PERI---------So it is a trap? DOCTOR----It's beginning to look like it. PERI---------Why don't we go and ask him? DOCTOR----Me! PERI---------Well, why don't we ask them? DOCTOR----Good idea.
--------------------------------------
VICKI--------Hey, Doctor? DOCTOR----What is it, my child? VICKI--------There's someone coming towards us. IAN-----------So there is. She's very good looking I must say. BARBARA---You would! VICKI--------Could they be hostile? DOCTOR----I shouldn't think so, my dear. DOCTOR 6---Hello there. DOCTOR 1---Hello. What have you come as, hmm, a scarecrow? DOCTOR 6---Certainly not! DOCTOR 1---Pity. Dressed like that you could certainly scare the crows. DOCTOR 6---You see Peri, how my disposition has improved greatly. PERI---------It hasn't changed that much. DOCTOR 1---So, eh, which one are you? DOCTOR 6---Sixth. DOCTOR 1---Ah, so it's another five, eh? DOCTOR 6---As far as I know. DOCTOR 1---How are the Daleks? DOCTOR 6---Still going, unfortunately. DOCTOR 1---Pity. Oh well, at least it gives us something to do. DOCTOR 6---Yes, I suppose it does. BARBARA---Doctor? DOCTORS 1 & 6---Yes Barbara? PERI---------I know what you're going to ask. BARBARA---How? PERI--------Because I asked the same thing myself a few hours ago. BARBARA---And what was that? PERI---------Who is he? BARBARA---And? PERI---------They're each other. IAN-----------I'm confused. DOCTOR 1---It's quite simple, Chesterton. When a Time Lord's body wears out, he regenerates. VICKI--------Like becoming new? DOCTOR 1---Exactly. He becomes a whole new person. IAN-----------Literally? DOCTOR 1---Quite so. He can only so this twelve times and then.... BARBARA---It's the end? DOCTOR 6---I think they've got it. DOCTOR 1---It certainly looks like it. DOCTOR 6---I had so much trouble explaining it to Peri. Americans! DOCTOR 1---Quite so. IAN-----------So, this man is you, Doctor? DOCTOR 1---Yes. He's my future. BARBARA---I see. DOCTOR 6---I met your... our fourth persona today. DOCTOR 1---Really? What was I like? PERI---------Unpleasant. DOCTOR 1---Really? Oh, I do apologise. DOCTOR 6---She forgives us, don't you Peri? PERI---------I suppose so. DOCTOR 1---I wish I knew how I was going to turn out. DOCTOR 6---We seem to have drawn the short straw there. DOCTOR 1---Oh, dear. PERI---------Can't you do anything? DOCTOR 1---I'm afraid not child. You see, meeting myself across the timestream like this goes against the first law of time, which expressly forbids regenerated Time Lords to meet their other selves. PERI---------But you're here now. DOCTOR 1---Yes, but technically it hasn't happened to me yet. PERI---------I think I understand. DOCTOR 6---About time. PERI---------Oh, why do Time Lords have to be so complicated? DOCTOR 6---If we weren't Peri, I'm afraid we'd be as dull as you humans. COMPANIONS---Thanks a lot! DOCTOR 6---Now, what do you make of all this? DOCTOR 1---At first, I thought it might be some sort of trap. DOCTOR 6---Me too. Where were you heading? DOCTOR 1---The Panopticon. DOCTOR 6---What did I tell you Peri? Great mind. Let's go. DOCTOR 1---Yes, let's. Come along you four. And don't dawdle! COMPANIONS---Yes, Doctors! Of course, Doctors! PERI---------Up yours, Doctors!
She made the V-sign which made everybody laugh, so they copied her until the Doctors stopped and looked round.
DOCTOR 6---What's going on back there? IAN-----------(innocently) Nothing. DOCTOR 1---Well, stop giggling like schoolchildren and do try to keep up, hmm. BARBARA---(whispering) What do they expect when they treat us like schoolchildren? PERI---------(whispers) Well, my Doctor acts like a big kid anyway. IAN-----------(whispers) So does ours.
--------------------------------------
DOCTOR----How much further now, K9? K9------------Three hundred metres, master. DOCTOR----Good. I do wish the message hadn't been so cryptic. K9------------Insufficient data. DOCTOR----Thought there would be. Remind me to get on with your modifications when we get back to the Tardis. K9------------Reminder retained, master. DOCTOR----Good. How much further now, K9? K9------------Two hundred and eighty three metres, master. DOCTOR----Pity I couldn't fly. K9------------Master? DOCTOR----Nothing, K9. K9------------Master? DOCTOR----Yes? K9------------Hostiles approaching. DOCTOR----Really? From which direction? K9------------Ahead, master. DOCTOR----How many are there? K9------------One. DOCTOR----That's good. K9------------And you. DOCTOR----Me?! K9------------Affirmative. DOCTOR----The one with the ridiculous coat again! K9------------Negative. DOCTOR----Negative? K9------------That's what I said. Negative. DOCTOR----Oh. Well don't shoot them K9. K9------------Affirmative. DOCTOR----There they are. (calls) Hello there! I'm the Doctor and this is my friend K9. DOCTOR 2---Hello. I'm the Doctor and this is my friend Jamie. DOCTOR 4---Jamie. It is so good to see you again (shakes hands). How have you been? JAMIE--------Eh? DOCTOR 2---I'll explain later Jamie. Were you called here too? DOCTOR 4---Yes.
They both dug into their pockets and pulled out a battered paper bag.
DOCTORS 2 & 4---Would you like a jelly baby? JAMIE--------Doctor? DOCTORS 2 & 4---Oh, I'm sorry Jamie. Would you like a jelly baby? JAMIE--------No. K9------------Master? DOCTOR 2 & 4---Yes? JAMIE--------I think he meant the one with the scarf. DOCTOR 2---Did you? K9------------Affirmative. DOCTOR 2---I'm sorry. K9------------Apologies are not necessary, Doctor. DOCTOR 2---Thank you, K9. DOCTOR 4---What is it, K9? K9------------We must keep moving, master. DOCTOR 4---In a minute, K9. K9------------One...two...three- DOCTOR 4---Not literally! DOCTOR 2---Where you're heading, it wouldn't be the Panopticon, by any chance? DOCTOR 4---How did you know? DOCTOR 2---Do you really have to ask? DOCTOR 4---Not really. I've met our other replacement. DOCTOR 2---Which one? DOCTOR 4---The sixth one. DOCTOR 2---What's he like? DOCTOR 4---An incompetent fool. DOCTOR 2---Oh well, it can't be helped, I suppose. DOCTOR 4---And his coat. DOCTOR 2---What about it? DOCTOR 4---Well, let me put it this way: Joseph's got nothing on him. DOCTOR 2---That bad? DOCTOR 4---Worse! But don't worry. I only ran into him by accident. He shouldn't be here. DOCTOR 2---I hope not. I haven't brought my sunglasses. DOCTOR 4---Sunglasses? DOCTOR 2---To shield my eyes from his colourful coat. Come on. The Panopticon! DOCTOR 4---The Panopticon! Come along K9, Jamie. JAMIE--------Aye, come along....wee doggie. K9------------I am not a wee anything. JAMIE--------Whatever you say laddie.
The strode off whistling in unison while K9 and Jamie lamely followed behind with Jamie doing his best to keep up.

Part 5
DOCTOR 7---We seem to have arrived. ACE----------There's the Tardis! DOCTOR 7---It certainly seems to be. ACE----------I thought we left it on level twelve. DOCTOR 7---We did. DOCTOR 3---Very peculiar. Ours is on level sixteen. BRIGADIER---Well it's here now. DOCTOR 3---A Tardis, Brigadier. BRIGADIER---I don't understand any of this, Doctors. ACE----------Neither do I, Professor. DOCTOR 7---It isn't our respective Tardises. ACE----------Whose is it then? DOCTOR 3---Ours. DOCTOR 7---And then again, not ours. BRIGADIER---I'm confused. ACE----------So am I. DOCTOR 7---Each of our personas has a Tardis. Ergo, since both of mine are elsewhere in the Capitol, this obviously belongs to another incarnation. ACE----------I see. BRIGADIER---I wish I did, Doctor. DOCTOR 2---It's quite simple, Brigadier. BRIGADIER---Doctor! You too? DOCTOR 4---And me. But of course, we haven't met yet. BRIGADIER---Who are you? DOCTOR 1---Me! DOCTOR 6---And me! DOCTORS 2,3,7---And me! BRIGADIER---You're all the Doctor? ALL DOCTORS---Yes. ACE----------Ace! DOCTOR 7---You're enjoying this? ACE----------Yeah. This is wicked! DOCTOR 1---There's nothing wicked about it, my girl. DOCTOR 7---She means, it's great. DOCTOR 1---Then, why didn't she just say so? DOCTOR 7---Modern vernacular, I'm afraid. BRIGADIER---Hello again, Jamie. JAMIE--------Hello Brigadier. It's so nice to talk to someone with a bit of sense. BRIGADIER---I know what you mean. What's this? K9------------I am K9. BRIGADIER---What do you do? DOCTOR 4---He's a sophisticated computer who also shoots people. BRIGADIER---I could do with him at UNIT. DOCTOR 4---I know you could, but you're not having him. BRIGADIER---Fair do's, Doctor. After everything I've done for you. DOCTOR 4---You haven't done anything for me. I've done it all for you. And you're still not getting K9. DOCTOR 1---Am I all here then? DOCTOR 2---It certainly looks like it. DOCTOR 1---I might have guessed you'd be here as well. DOCTOR 2---I couldn't miss a party now, could I? DOCTOR 1---Party poopers never do. ACE----------How many did you say you were, Professor? DOCTOR 7---There's seven of me now. ACE----------I can only see six. DOCTOR 7---Six? (counts) So there is. I wonder.... ALL DOCTORS---The Tardis! BARBARA---Which Tardis? DOCTOR 1---The one in front of us of course, hmm? DOCTOR 4---Unless he's been taken somewhere. DOCTOR 3---You don't think...? DOCTOR 2---It's possible. Perhaps that's why we were hi-jacked here. ACE----------That's one way of putting it. JAMIE--------So, what are ye going to do? DOCTOR 2---Well, I suppose one of us ought to open the door. DOCTOR 6---Which one? DOCTOR 2---Anyone. BARBARA---Well? DOCTOR 1---I think one of them ought to do it. DOCTOR 7---Don't look at me. It could be booby-trapped. DOCTOR 2---He has a point. ACE----------(snatches key) I'll do it! DOCTOR 7---Ace! ACE----------There's six of you and none of you can even decide who's going to open a stupid door. DOCTOR 7---It's not that simple. ACE----------Of course it is. All you have to do is put a key in the lock, turn it and voila, it's open. DOCTOR 7---Ace.... ACE----------You're just a bunch of wimps. DOCTOR 7---Ace!
She put the key in the lock and turned it. When the door opened, she pulled a face at the Doctors and handed her Doctor back the key.
ACE----------Told you. DOCTOR 7---I ought to put you over my knee and give you a good hiding. ACE----------You wouldn't dare. DOCTOR 7---No, I wouldn't. ACE----------You going inside or what, Professor? DOCTOR 4---There's no need. ACE----------Yer what?! DOCTOR 2---There's someone coming out. DOCTOR 5---Hello. What's this? DOCTOR 4---Ballet class (!) DOCTOR 6---Don't listen to him. We were all summoned here. How about you? DOCTOR 5---Yes. DOCTOR 1---What were you doing in there? DOCTOR 5---Trying to get out! DOCTOR 3---There's no need to be like that, old chap. DOCTOR 5---I'm sorry. It's just that I've been stuck in there for hours. DOCTOR 7---Couldn't you get the doors open? DOCTOR 5---No. Something was holding them together. DOCTOR 4---Or someone. DOCTOR 6---But who? MAN---------By me! It is so good to see you again, Doctors. I have waited a very long time. DOCTOR 1---Have we met, hmm? MAN---------Indirectly, Doctor. We met after your third regeneration. DOCTOR 2---Who are you? MAN---------I am the Black Guardian. And I am going to kill you all. DOCTOR 3---But we don't know you. BLACK GUARDIAN---No matter. My little friend will take care of you. DOCTOR 2---What friend? BLACK GUARDIAN---This one.
A man dressed in black approached and stood at the top of the steps.
DOCTORS 1 & 3---The Master! MASTER-----That's right, Doctors. DOCTOR 2---I don't know him. MASTER-----Let me refresh your memory. The Death Zone? Rassilon's tomb? DOCTOR 2---Oh yes. How silly of me to forget. MASTER-----I'm glad you think so. DOCTOR 2---After all, it's impossible to erase the memory of your ugly mug! MASTER-----Are you trying to provoke me, Doctor? DOCTOR 2---Who me? Of course! MASTER-----You will wait, Doctor. DOCTOR 2---You'll be lucky! MASTER-----Then come and get me. DOCTOR 2---Is that a challenge? MASTER-----If you like. DOCTOR 2---Right! JAMIE--------Doctor.... DOCTOR 2---It's alright, Jamie. I'll deal with him.
He marched over to the steps, ready to go up and punch him on the nose, but suddenly he stopped. The Master laughed.
ACE----------What's so funny, pig breath? MASTER-----You lot. You're all so weak and feeble. DOCTOR 7---That's what you think. MASTER-----That's what I know, Doctors. DOCTOR 1---What have you done? MASTER-----It's not what I've done. It's what the Black Guardian's done. DOCTOR 4---And what might that be? MASTER-----He's put a force field around the Panopticon. PERI---------We can't get out? MASTER-----That's right, my dear Peri. You're stuck until it's time to deal with you. DOCTOR 6---We should have dealt with you in the real world. MASTER-----But you didn't, did you? DOCTOR 6---I'll get you sooner or later. MASTER-----You haven't managed it yet. DOCTOR 6---There's a first time for everything. MASTER-----I must leave you now. Enjoy your time together. What little you've got left (leaves). DOCTOR 3---That man's a bounder. ACE----------I can think of worse names for him. DOCTOR 7---Ace. ACE----------What, Professor? DOCTOR 7---There are ladies present. DOCTOR 1---The point is, what are we going to do to keep ourselves alive? ACE----------All we need to do is shift that force field, right? DOCTOR 2---It's not as easy as it appears, my dear. ACE----------Rubbish. All that needs is a good blast with.... DOCTOR 7---Ace! ACE----------....nitro-nine. DOCTOR 2---That sounds terribly interesting. What is it? DOCTOR 7---You don't want to know. DOCTOR 2---I'll be the judge of that. Now, tell me my dear. DOCTOR 7---You'll regret it. DOCTOR 2---Shhh. Ace? ACE----------It's just like ordinary nitro-glycerine but with something added. DOCTOR 2---To give it that extra 'whoosh', eh? ACE----------That's right! DOCTOR 2---It sounds jolly interesting. DOCTOR 7---(mumbles) Oh, no. DOCTOR 2---I don't suppose you've got any on you, have you? DOCTOR 7---No she hasn't! ACE----------Well..... DOCTOR 7---You promised. ACE----------We all make promises, Professor. DOCTOR 7---Whatever possessed you to bring some? ACE----------You know I feel naked without at least one canister. DOCTOR 7---(sighs) Yes. ACE----------And it's a good job I did bring a couple, innit? DOCTOR 7---Depends on your "couple". How many? ACE----------Well...... DOCTOR 7---Ace..... ACE----------Six. DOCTOR 7---Six?! This is a peaceful planet Ace. They don't believe in violence or killing. ACE----------Someone ought to tell that to pig breath and scumbag out there. DOCTOR 4---She has a point. DOCTOR 6---Would it work against the force field? DOCTOR 7---It will make a terrible mess even if it doesn't. DOCTOR 1---Surely it's worth a try. Telepathic energy certainly won't DOCTOR 7---If it does, there'll be no shutting her up. DOCTOR 3---She looks like a very sensible young lady. DOCTOR 7---You don't have to travel with her. DOCTOR 2---Shall we try it then? DOCTOR 7---(sighs) I suppose so. DOCTOR 2---That's the spirit. DOCTOR 7---As long as you let me deal with the Master. DOCTOR 6---Ohhh. I wanted to deal with him. DOCTOR 3---Why? DOCTOR 6---Because I have a score to settle. DOCTOR 5---Haven't we all?! DOCTOR 7---Oh, all right then. And I do have an idea on how to rid Gallifrey of the Black Guardian. ACE----------How? DOCTOR 7---Wait and see. Ready? Contact. DOCTOR 1---Contact. DOCTOR 2---Contact. DOCTOR 3---Contact. DOCTOR 4---Contact. DOCTOR 5---Contact. DOCTOR 6---Contact. DOCTOR 7---That's settled then. DOCTOR 3---Do you think it'll work? DOCTOR 4---We won't know unless we try. DOCTOR 7---All right Ace. ACE----------Does that mean I can start blowing up the place now? DOCTOR 7---Yes. And try not to make too much mess. ACE----------With nitro-nine? DOCTOR 7---Do your best. ACE----------Okay Professor.
The Doctors ushered everyone into the corner while Ace planted her nitro-nine. She rushed to join them.
DOCTOR 7---How many seconds? ACE----------Twelve.
There was a huge explosion. Ace went over to the centre of the mess and walked up the steps. She smiled and jumped up and down, while everyone else coughed as they breathed in the smoke.
ACE----------Ace! DOCTOR 7---(walks slowly towards her) I thought you said we had twelve seconds. ACE----------(stops jumping) Anyone can make a mistake, Professor. DOCTOR 7---Not as many as you. ACE----------Watch it, Professor! I did you a favour. BARBARA---She's right. IAN-----------If it hadn't been for her, we'd still be trapped. ACE----------Yeah! DOCTOR 1---Spirited young lady, isn't she? DOCTOR 3---Yes. I don't envy me. DOCTOR 1---Me either. DOCTOR 7---Just make sure when we get back to the Tardis you fix those timers properly. ACE----------I will. Promise. DOCTOR 6---Right, I'll be off then. DOCTOR 4---What are you going to do? DOCTOR 6---Fix the Master once and for all. DOCTOR 4---Just make sure no one spots you in that coat. DOCTOR 6---Why don't you hang yourself with your scarf? DOCTOR 4---If I did that, you wouldn't be here to wear that. You know, perhaps that's a perfect reason to kill myself. DOCTOR 6---And what's that supposed to mean? DOCTOR 4---Well someone has to save the cosmos from your taste in clothes. DOCTOR 6---At least I don't sulk if I don't get my own way. PERI---------Yes, you do. DOCTOR 6---Why don't you go and talk to the others? DOCTOR 4---Try Tegan. PERI---------Tegan? DOCTOR 4---The Australian. You'd get on very well, so I'm told. PERI---------Is that an insult? DOCTOR 4---(smiles) What do you think? PERI---------Doctor, are you going to let him talk to me like that? DOCTOR 6---He just did. See you later (leaves).
A little later, Doctor 6 came back smiling. Peri went over to him.
PERI---------I hope you're in a better mood now. DOCTOR 6---Of course. PERI---------I take it whatever you did was a success. DOCTOR 6---Uh-huh. PERI---------So? DOCTOR 6---So, what? PERI---------Are you going to let us in on the secret? DOCTOR 6---(shakes his head) Wait. Watch. Learn. PERI---------Doctor! DOCTOR 6---Right. Now it's time to get the Black Guardian here. ACE----------And pig breath? DOCTOR 6---Naturally. Is everything all set? DOCTOR 1---Yes. DOCTOR 3---We're ready whenever you are. DOCTOR 7---Let's get on with it then.
They got their heads together and irritated the Black Guardian and the Master so badly with their telepathic conference, that they both appeared at the top of the steps.
BLACK GUARDIAN---How dare you summon me! DOCTOR 4---We wanted to talk to you before we die. BLACK GUARDIAN---So, you have finally accepted your fate. DOCTOR 2---You gave us no choice. BLACK GUARDIAN---Marvellous! So, what so do want to know? DOCTOR 5---Why is Turlough here? BLACK GUARDIAN---Because he failed me by keeping you alive. DOCTOR 1---Revenge? BLACK GUARDIAN---Naturally. DOCTOR 3---And the Brigadier? BLACK GUARDIAN---It was his stupidity which prevented your death becuase Turlough let the Brigadier's 1977 and 1983 selves to meet. Anything else? DOCTOR 6---Not for the moment, thank you. BLACK GUARDIAN---Good. Now the time has come for your deaths. DOCTOR 2---Not so fast! BLACK GUARDIAN---Do not attempt to anger me, Doctors. DOCTOR 2---I'm not trying to. Only there's someone who's come a long way to see your ugly face. BLACK GUARDIAN---Who? WHITE GUARDIAN---Me. BLACK GUARDIAN---What do you want here? WHITE GUARDIAN---To prevent you from disposing of the Doctors. BLACK GUARDIAN---His fourth persona robbed me of the Key to Time. WHITE GUARDIAN---At my instruction. BLACK GUARDIAN---Yours? You stopped me from controlling the universe? WHITE GUARDIAN---You didn't think I'd lost my senses, did you? BLACK GUARDIAN---This is a shock. I need to think about what I will do. ACE----------You can piss off Gallifrey for a start mush! DOCTOR 7---Crude, but a good idea. WHITE GUARDIAN---You have been chasing the wrong enemy. BLACK GUARDIAN---It's a trick! DOCTOR 4----I assure you, it's no trick. WHITE GUARDIAN---Leave, and if you must fight, fight me in our own universe. BLACK GUARDIAN---(solemnly) I agree. MASTER-----What about our deal? BLACK GUARDIAN---You can do what you like. DOCTOR 4---Goodbye. I can't say it's been a pleasure. ACE----------Yeah! Up yours, snotface! DOCTOR 7---Ace!
With that, the Black Guardian vanished, followed shortly afterwards by the White Guardian.
DOCTOR 1---Right, now I think we can all go home now. MASTER-----Not so fast. ACE----------The game's over, pig breath. Your pet leech has chickened out leaving you to hold the bag. DOCTOR 2---Did any of you understand what she said?
Five of the Doctors, Jamie, Barbara, Ian, Vicki, the Brigadier, Turlough, the Master and even K9 if he was able to, shook their heads.
DOCTOR 7---I did and she's got a point. You've been abandoned, left to your own fate. Give up now and perhaps the High Council will go easy on you. MASTER-----Never! I haven't got where I am today by running away. DOCTOR 4---And where's it got you, eh? LEELA-------Doctor! I heard you were here. DOCTOR 4---Stay there Leela! Don't move! LEELA-------Doctor, what's happening? MASTER-----Ah, perfect! Your timing is excellent, my dear. Let me be the first to say, goodbye. LEELA-------Goodbye? DOCTOR 4---If you touch her, I swear I'll kill you myself! DOCTOR 6---Don't listen to him. Just get rid of the backward savage. MASTER-----I don't need any encouragement from you, Doctors. DOCTOR 4---(to Dr 6) How could you? DOCTOR 6---(whispers) Wait. Watch. Learn.
The Master pressed his tissue compression eliminator. Nothing. He pressed it again. Still nothing.
DOCTOR 6---Get on with it! We haven't got all day! MASTER-----(to himself) I don't understand.
He pointed it at himself and confidently pressed the button. He screamed loudly as his body shrank.
LEELA-------Is he dead? DOCTOR 6---I certainly hope so. DOCTOR 4---So that's what you meant. DOCTOR 6---I'm not the fool you seem to think I am. DOCTOR 4---I'm so glad I get cleverer as I get older. DOCTOR 6---(smiles) Thank you. DOCTOR 4---Pity about the clothes though. DOCTOR 6---Why, you.... DOCTOR 4---Don't hit yourself. You'll get hurt.
Several hours later, everyone said their goodbyes, including to Leela, and went back to their respective Tardises and their own timestreams.
Inside the first Doctor's Tardis a loud beeping could be heard. He smiled.
IAN-----------What is it, Doctor? BARBARA---The Time Lords again? DOCTOR----Quite the opposite. This is a message from Susan I asked her to make. VICKI--------What about? BARBARA---Well? DOCTOR----I'm a great-grandfather. IAN-----------That's wonderful! BARBARA---Congratulations, Doctor. DOCTOR----Thank you, thank you. But Susan did all the work. VICKI--------Are we going to see her, Doctor? DOCTOR----Yes. BARBARA---When? DOCTOR----Well, I told her I'd come right away, so there's no time like the present.
Meanwhile, in the seventh Doctor's Tardis, he was giving Ace a stern lecture on her use of nitro-nine.
ACE----------It got the force field down, didn't it, Professor? DOCTOR----Yes. But at what cost? I'll probably never be asked back. ACE----------Course you will. After everything you've done for that stuck-up lot. DOCTOR----Maybe you're right. ACE----------Great! Where to now, Professor? DOCTOR----Don't change the subject. I haven't finished yet. ACE----------Sorry, Professor. DOCTOR----Now, about those timers.....
And so everyone was back to their usual lifestyles, although Doctors 1-5 and their companions, forgot everything that happened on Gallifrey - killing Daleks, killing Cybermen, killing green blobs, killing multi-coloured blobs......
The End
