Part 1
In the console room of the Tardis, the Doctor and Ace were on their way to their next destination after leaving the Liberator crew.
ACE----------So, Professor, who's this Leela then Vila and that prat Avon kept arguing about? DOCTOR----She used to travel with me several regenerations ago. She was a savage from the tribe of the Sevateem. ACE----------Pretty? DOCTOR----I hadn't really noticed. But, I suppose she was, in a primitive sort of way. What I did notice was how she gave me a lot of trouble, just like you. ACE----------I never give you no trouble! Well, not that often, anyway. DOCTOR----Of course not, Ace (!) ACE----------What happened to her? You told them she got married. Stupid cow. DOCTOR----It's a long story. ACE----------We've got time. DOCTOR----Very funny. Yes, she did get married. To a guard on Gallifrey. ACE----------Was that her, when we were having all that trouble with the Master and Black Guardian? DOCTOR----That was her. ACE----------Looked like a bit of a wimp to me. DOCTOR----I can assure you, Ace, she is no wimp. ACE----------Now she's living happily ever after on Gallifrey. I don't envy her! DOCTOR----Actually, she isn't. ACE----------Eh? But I thought you said- DOCTOR----She's with Avon and back with her people. ACE----------How did that happen, then? I thought she had taste, to dump him like that. She's gone way down in my estimation now! DOCTOR----It's all very complicated, Ace. It seems I was inadvertantly to blame for her marriage breaking up. ACE----------What did you do, bit of marriage guidance? DOCTOR----Nothing like that. I-
He was interrupted by a beeping coming from his pocket. He rummaged through them and pulled out a small cube.
DOCTOR----A-ha! Looks like I'll have to explain leter. I've got an errand to run. ACE----------On the Dalek payroll now, are you(?) DOCTOR----Sometimes I despair about you. ACE----------Only sometimes, Professor (?) DOCTOR----I think you know the answer to that. ACE----------So, where are we going? DOCTOR----Earth. ACE----------Pants! DOCTOR----It's not that bad. ACE----------Sure (!) Why do we have to go there? DOCTOR----And old friend of mine - Sarah Jane Smith - has sent me a message. Her K9 is in need of repairs. We won't be too long, okay? ACE----------We'd better not be.
Meanwhile in London, there was a convention to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of the science-fiction series, "Blakes 7". It was evening and a break between the panels and cabaret so most people decided to go out for food. Three people were making their way back to the hotel - English redhead Patricia Dempsey, Australian brunette Juanita Adie-Cooper and Scottish coiffeured Graham Donaldson. Actors Gareth Thomas and Paul Darrow pushed past them as they came out of the pub.
JUANITA----Hey! They nearly had me over then. PATRICIA---Are you complaining? JUANITA----I'm not that desperate, thanks very much! PATRICIA---I could be! Although Paul Darrow definately ain't what he used to be. JUANITA----Do you think he wears a wig? PATRICIA---There's only one way to find out. Give us all the gossip in the morning! JUANITA----Why me? You're the one who can't keep her hands off old men. PATRICIA---Only one old man. I do have my standards. Well, only just. Besides, you're the one who wants to know whether he's got a shagpile on his head or not. JUANITA----As you're the youngest, you do it. PATRICIA---No, thank you! I'll stick with my lovely Ant if it's all the same to you. At least he's not a drunken fat pig who can't remember your face a minute after talking to you. GRAHAM----Can't argue with that. JUANITA----Who can't? GRAHAM----I'm really surprised to see Peter Tuddenham here. PATRICIA---Oh, yes. Didn't you say five years ago he'd be dead by now? GRAHAM----Did I? I don't remember. PATRICIA---Bloody liar! You know damn well you did! GRAHAM----Well, I might have said something along those lines. I see David Jackson's as popular as ever (!) PATRICIA---Yes. And if he gives that, "Where's Makepeace?" comment again in five years time, I'll probably land him one. Third time unlucky! GRAHAM----He's even more, Professor Kettlewell! JUANITA----What about Michael Keating? PATRICIA---Ahh, now him I'd have no problem finding out if he wears a wig. JUANITA----Pour a bucket of cold water over her quick! PATRICIA---Don't be like that. He's so sweet. JUANITA----Can't disagree there. PATRICIA---Makes a change! JUANITA----I'm older than you so don't argue back. GRAHAM----What about Jackie? PATRICIA---No, I don't fancy jumping her! GRAHAM----I didn't mean that. PATRICIA---You mean, you wanted to jump her?! GRAHAM----No. You know what I mean. JUANITA----Of course we don't. We're two sweet, innocent girls, you know (!) GRAHAM----About as innocent as Jackie. PATRICIA---Was he being insulting? JUANITA----You know, I think he was. PATRICIA---That's it, Graham. No view of our bums for you, mate! JUANITA----Seconded. Can't have you enjoying yourself at our expense when you can't even be nice now, can we? GRAHAM----I don't have any interest in your fat arses anyway. JUANITA----Cheeky bugger! PATRICIA---Bet he would cause a stink if it was Lis doing the threatening. JUANITA----Damn right, he would. And she's got an even fatter arse than us! PATRICIA---Saggy too. Probably down to her knees but she keeps it in with a corset. JUANITA----Dirty old perv. PATRICIA---Oh, look. He's getting all embarrassed now. He always goes all coy, quiet and smiley when he is. JUANITA----Look, you shag Jackie. Pat'll shag Michael and I'll shag..... er.... PATRICIA---Peter Tuddenham? JUANITA----Do me a favour! PATRICIA---David Jackson, then. Ow! JUANITA----There's no one even remotely fanciable. PATRICIA---Chris Boucher? Ow! JUANITA----Am I the one wearing glasses? PATRICIA---No. But if you had my eyesight you'd see them quite differently. JUANITA----Lucky I haven't then. By the way, I still have to kill you. PATRICIA---For what? JUANITA----Marrying that lovely Avon off to that bloody Leela! PATRICIA---Oh, yeah. I'd forgotton about that. I thought you liked it. JUANITA----I don't now. PATRICIA---Well, give us a chance to book the hospital bed first. JUANITA----Don't you mean morgue drawer? PATRICIA---Er, yeah, probably. JUANITA----How long will that take? PATRICIA---Five minutes? JUANITA----I can't be expected to wait that long! I've flown thousands of miles for this! PATRICIA---Well get on with it then. JUANITA----I'll wait for my dinner to digest first. Don't want to get heartburn. PATRICIA---That's fine by me. JUANITA----But I won't forget. PATRICIA---Didn't think you would. GRAHAM----What time is it? JUANITA----Six-thirty. GRAHAM----It doesn't start again till eight. What'll we do until then? PATRICIA---I can always leave you alone. I'm not into threesomes. JUANITA----I'm not into twosomes. Sorry, Graham. GRAHAM----Not into twosomes? JUANITA----Er, nothing. By the way, did you bring that thong I've heard so much about? GRAHAM----No. JUANITA----Why not? I've flown thousands of miles to see it. PATRICIA---And kill me. JUANITA----That goes without saying. Never mind, Graham. I'll try to get up there before I go home. You can show it to me then. GRAHAM----(blushing) So, what shall we do to pass the time? PATRICIA---I dunno. JUANITA----Might as well stay out here and enjoy the lovely London pollution.
They made their way to a shop window and sat on the ledge, legs outstretched.
JUANITA----Ahh, this is the life. Skin cancer, lung cancer, bronchitis, asthma, early death. Lovely (!) GRAHAM----What's that noise?

Part 2
DOCTOR----Here we are, Ace, South Croydon. Hill View Road if I'm not mistaken. ACE----------Yeah, well, I'll belive it when I see suburbia on the scanner. What's that banging? DOCTOR----No idea. ACE----------Water pipes? DOCTOR----It's coming from outside. I suppose we'd better go and find out what's going on.
The Doctor opened the doors and they went outside. Once there, they saw the Tardis had materialised on one of Graham's feet.
DOCTOR----Oh dear. That's never happened before. ACE----------You do surprise me (!) DOCTOR----This is no time for levity, Ace. ACE----------I'm not levitating! DOCTOR----Never mind. Are you all right, young man? GRAHAM----What do you think?! Get it off! DOCTOR----What? Oh, yes. Sorry. You stay here, Ace. ACE----------Where are you going? DOCTOR----To move the Tardis. ACE----------You're not going to leave me here! DOCTOR----Of course not. I'm just going to move the Tardis a bit. Won't be long.
He went back in, closed the doors, dematerialised and rematerialised a short hop away. He came back out.
GRAHAM----About time! What is that thing, anyway? ACE----------It's the Tardis. It's our ship. GRAHAM----Eh? DOCTOR----Never mind that. That foot needs looking at. (sighs) I suppose we'd better get him inside the Tardis. ACE----------Professor! DOCTOR----Is't the best place, Ace. I can't examine it properly and make it better on a street corner. ACE----------I suppose so. Where are we anyway? PATRICIA---Don't you know? ACE----------If I did I wouldn't be asking. JUANITA----London. ACE----------Professor, you've gone and done it again. DOCTOR----It was close enough. ACE----------Hmm. Whereabouts in London? PATRICIA---Paddington. ACE----------And the year? JUANITA----2003. Why? ACE----------Just asking. DOCTOR----Right, young man. Can you walk? GRAHAM----Are you stupid or what? DOCTOR----I'll ignore that remark, due to your obvious pain. PATRICIA---No. He's just a pain. DOCTOR----So, who's going to carry him inside? JUANITA----Where? DOCTOR----The Tardis. JUANITA----In that blue box? DOCTOR----Yes. JUANITA----There's not enough room. ACE----------Course there is. DOCTOR----Come on. We haven't got all day. JUANITA----Don't start bossing us about! It was your fault in the first place! DOCTOR----That's why I want to get him seen to as soon as possible. PATRICIA---Now there's an idea! DOCTOR----Ace, you give them a hand. ACE----------And, what are you going to do? DOCTOR----Prepare!
The Doctor returned to the Tardis leaving the girls to carry Graham.
GRAHAM----And don't drop me. JUANITA----Don't tempt us!
They entered the Tardis and Patricia and Juanita nearly dropped Graham when they saw the console room.
DOCTOR----Bring him over to this chair.
They did as they were told then the Doctor examined Graham's foot.
DOCTOR----It's absolutely shattered, I'm afraid. GRAHAM----What?! DOCTOR----But I can soon mend it. Well, it'll take a couple of hours. ACE----------What about this Sarah Jane Smith? DOCTOR----We'll just have to take him with us. PATRICIA---What about us? JUANITA----Yeah. We're not going anywhere without him. GRAHAM----I didn't think you cared. JUANITA----We don't. We just don't trust him. PARICIA----Oh, I don't know. A few hours without him going on about Lis will be refreshing. JUANITA----That's a point. No. No. Wherever he goes, we go. No matter how tempting it is. DOCTOR----Then you'll have to come too. Just don't get in my way. PATRICIA---Wouldn't dream of it, would we, Juanita? JUANITA----We're just here to keep an eye on him. DOCTOR----Fine. Then you won't mind if we take off then. PATRICIA---Take off? DOCTOR----To South Croydon. I have a little job to do. Shouldn't take long. JUANITA----And how are we supposed to get there? DOCTOR----You'll see. JUANITA----It doesn't fly, you know. And I didn't see any wheels. Did you see any wheels when it was on your foot, Graham? GRAHAM----Can't say I noticed. I had more important things to think about (!) DOCTOR----Well, you'll soon find out.
The Doctor pressed some buttons and dematerialised.
DOCTOR----Now then, let's get that foot sorted.
The Doctor went deeper into the Tardis and came back carrying a box. He knelt beside Graham and took out a capsule.
DOCTOR----I want you to take this. GRAHAM----What is it? DOCTOR----It'll make the pain go away. It's all right, it's quite safe. Apart from.... GRAHAM----What? DOCTOR----Well, it is Gallifreyan medicine. It's perfectly harmless to humans, but there could be side-effects. GRAHAM----Like what? DOCTOR----Nothing dangerous. Here.
Graham was about to protest when the Doctor popped the capsule into his mouth and it dissolved instantly.
DOCTOR----Well? GRAHAM----Hey, the pain's gone! DOCTOR----Excellent! Now, I'll sort out that foot. ACE----------Doctor, we seem to be materialising. DOCTOR----What?! Oh, just a minute.
He got up as the time rotor stopped. He turned on the scanner and saw an irate-looking Sarah Jane Smith. He opened the doors.
DOCTOR----Back in a minute. Er.... You know, I don't even know your names. JUANITA----I'm Juanita, that's Pat and that wuss over there is Graham. DOCTOR----Pleased to meet you. I'm the Doctor and this is Ace. Er, Graham, could you remove your footwear while I'm gone? Thanks very much.
With that he was gone through the doors beaming at Sarah.
DOCTOR----It's so good to see you again, Sarah. How are you? SARAH------Better, if I still had a bedroom!
The Doctor looked up and saw the top of the Tardis had materialised through the ceiling. He looked embarrassed.
DOCTOR----Ah. I'm sorry about that. I don't know what's up with the Tardis today. First, she materialised on someone's foot, and now she's arrived in your living room and turned it into a bedroom. SARAH------Well, what are you going to do about it? DOCTOR----Nothing. SARAH------You've ruined my house! DOCTOR----I can see that. But I'm in the middle of mending the young man's foot. I'll fix that too. I promise. Where's K9? SARAH------In the corner. DOCTOR----Bring him into the Tardis, will you? SARAH------What?! DOCTOR----I must get back to the foot.
With that he'd disappeared back inside. Sarah was livid but couldn't stay angry with him for long, no matter how he looked. After all, the Doctor was the Doctor. She picked up K9 and carried him in, carefully walking over the rubble and bits of furniture. Once inside, she put the dog on the floor and watched the Doctor carefully placing what looked like a sock over a man's foot. She noticed the man was drifting in and out of conciousness.
SARAH------Is he all right? DOCTOR----Perfectly. Just a side-effect of the anaesthetic.
Graham looked up at the sound of the strange voice and saw Sarah. He was instantly in love, even though she was at least twenty years older than him. He tried to stay concious so he could see her but it was a losing battle.
DOCTOR----Where's K9? SARAH------Here. Are you sure he'll be okay? He looks very pale. DOCTOR----Trust me, Sarah, eh? Have I ever been wrong? SARAH------Well.... DOCTOR----That should do it.
He stood up and packed his box away.
DOCTOR----Now then, what about K9? SARAH------Can you fix him? DOCTOR----You know me, Sarah. I can fix anything. SARAH------How long will it take? DOCTOR----That depends on what's wrong. SARAH------Well, I'll leave you to it and phone some builders. Probably rip me off terribly. DOCTOR----Don't worry about that. I'll pay. SARAH------I should think so too!
At that moment Graham stood unsteadily and tried to get to Sarah. He fell on the console and the doors closed. Then the familiar sound of dematerialisation filled the room. Graham slid to the floor.
DOCTOR----Oh, no! ACE----------What's he done, Professor? DOCTOR----Isn't it obvious, Ace? ACE----------Any idea where we're going? DOCTOR----No. But away from Earth that's for sure. Get him to a bedroom where he can't do any more damage. PATRICIA---What do you mean, "away from Earth"? DOCTOR----Just what I said. JUANITA----That's impossible! DOCTOR----Is what you see around you impossible? JUANITA----Well, no. Unless it's done with mirrors. ACE----------The Doctor's telling the truth. SARAH------I can vouch for that. I used to travel with him, a very long time ago. PATRICIA---Will we get back? JUANITA----You're just accepting what they say? PATRICIA---Why not? Isn't it better to just go along with them just in case they're telling the truth? JUANITA----I suppose so. But I don't like it. PATRICIA---Neither do I so blame Graham. If we do end up elsewhere, it'll be all his fault. JUANITA----Yeah, okay then. I'll accept it. But only for now. So, will we get back? DOCTOR----Yes. JUANITA----Why don't you just turn around now? DOCTOR----Because, the Tardis is on some pre-set destination. If I interfere with that, who knows what will happen? ACE----------Boom? DOCTOR----Possibly. Ah, we seem to be materialising. PATRICIA---That was quick. We haven't gone far then. DOCTOR----That depends. JUANITA----On what? DOCTOR----On whether either of you understand the concept of time. JUANITA----Got no idea what you're on about, Doc. DOCTOR----Didn't think you did.
He turned on the scanner and looked at the barren, dusty landscape which awaited them outside.
DOCTOR----Does that convince you? JUANITA----Depends. DOCTOR----On what? JUANITA----On whether we're in Western Australia or the Sahara desert. DOCTOR----That is an alien planet. I'm sure I know it from somewhere. JUANITA----Sure it is (!) DOCTOR----Come on then, you hard-bittien old cynic (opens doors). JUANITA----Hey, not so much of the old! PATRICIA---Can't we go back to Earth now? DOCTOR----No. PATRICIA---Why not? ACE----------Because he's got a mission. PATRICIA---For what? ACE----------To prove others wrong. He hates cynics more than Daleks. PATRICIA---I won't even bother to ask what they are. DOCTOR----Very wise. Besides, that bandage has to be on his foot for four hours. Gives us some time to have a look around. Coming, anyone? SARAH------I think I'll have a quick look. It's been a long time since I was on an alien planet. DOCTOR----Ace? ACE----------Do you really have to ask? DOCTOR----Patricia? PATRICIA---What about Graham? DOCTOR----With luck he'll sleep and not know we've even gone. PATRICIA---Okay, then. DOCTOR----Cynic? JUANITA----Why not? I could do with a good laugh when you see you're wrong. DOCTOR----Let's get him tucked up in bed then. SARAH------On second thoughts, Doctor, I'll stay. DOCTOR----Are you sure? SARAH------Yes. Someone had better stay behind to keep an eye on him. PATRICIA---I'll do it. SARAH------It's okay. Besides, I know my way around the Tardis. PATRICIA---I suppose so. JUANITA----Afraid? PATRICIA---No. JUANITA----Looks like it. SARAH------I really don't mind. JUANITA----Fair enough. Just don't bend over anywhere near him. SARAH------Why not? JUANITA----You'll find out if you want to risk it. SARAH------Better not then. JUANITA----Wise woman. Come on, then. Let's get this walking pain to bed-e-byes. PATRICIA---Hopping pain, surely. JUANITA----I don't know about that. All I know is,he's a massive pain in the arse - and I don't mean mine either before you say anything! PATRICIA---Would I (?) JUANITA----Yes, you bloody well would! PATRICIA---Ha! You know me so well.
So they carried Graham to Adric/Turlough's old room, which relieved Ace because she didn't like the idea of anyone being in hers, except the Doctor which she had to put up with. Then they left Sarah babysitting and went to explore. Before the Doctor had a chance to close the door properly, they were jumped on and hauled towards a building and thrown into a room. The Doctor was furious.
DOCTOR----We haven't even been introduced! ACE----------Er, Professor? DOCTOR----Cheek! What? ACE----------We've got company. Familiar company.
She pointed and the Doctor turned round and sighed.
DOCTOR----Oh, no! No offence. Hello, Jo. JO------------Er, hello. Doctor? DOCTOR 3---It's perfectly all right, Jo. It's only me. JO------------Like the other two? DOCTOR 3---I'm afraid so. Though I have no idea which one. DOCTOR 7---Don't you remember? DOCTOR 3---Remember what? ACE----------Last time we met. Only then you had Colonel Blimp with you. DOCTOR 3---Colonel Blimp? DOCTOR 7---She means, the Brigadier. I thought you liked him. ACE----------I do. DOCTOR 3---I assure you, my dear, we have never met before. ACE----------Course we have. Gallifrey? The Master? The Black Guardian? DOCTOR 3---I really have no idea what you're talking about. DOCTOR 7---Never mind, Ace. It's obviously down to the Time Lords, again. Otherwise, I'm sure I'd have been prepared and know what was going on. ACE----------Do you ever? DOCTOR 7---It has been known. Anyway, what are you two doing here? DOCTOR 3---Getting extremely bored. JO------------We just arrived and, as soon as we left the Tardis, we were dragged here. ACE----------Same as us, Professor. DOCTOR 7---Yes. How long have you been here? JO------------Days. Weeks. Years! DOCTOR 3---Several days. DOCTOR 7---I thought it looked familiar. Honestly, my memory is not what it used to be. ACE----------So, you have been here before? DOCTOR 7---(points) Well, obviously! ACE----------Oh, yeah. Sorry, Professor. I'm probably still disorientated from being dragged upside down. PATRICIA---They were very unpleasant. JUANITA----It was like they were waiting for us. DOCTOR 7---Yes. But, I very much doubt it. No one knew we'd be coming. So, have you tried to escape, yet? DOCTOR 3---What do you think?! DOCTOR 7---Sonic screwdiver no good then? ACE----------Depends on what for! JUANITA----A girl after my own heart. DOCTOR 3---No. The door's hermetically sealed. No locks or bolts or anything. ACE----------Professor? DOCTOR 7---No, Ace. ACE----------Why not? DOCTOR 7---Because I say so. We'll just have to plan our method of escape. DOCTOR 3---It won't be easy, you know. DOCTOR 7---I know. But we've still got to try. I don't want to spend the rest of my lives here and watch you turn into me. JO------------Yes, but have you seen them? If it's all the same to you, Doctors, I want to get out of here before all my teeth fall out. DOCTOR 3---We'll see what we can do.

Part 3
Meanwhile, in the Tardis, Graham was coming round. The first thing he saw was Sarah, who was sat in a chair by the end of the bed. She smiled and he was in love. He smiled back.
SARAH------How are you feeling? GRAHAM---Tired. SARAH------That'll be the anaesthetic. How's the foot? GRAHAM----Surprisingly pain free. How long have I been asleep? SARAH------About two hours. GRAHAM----Where am I? SARAH------In the Tardis. GRAHAM----Tardis? Oh, aye. Where's everyone else? SARAH------They went out to have a look around but haven't come back yet. I'm getting very worried about them. GRAHAM----I'm sure they'll be all right. SARAH------You don't know the Doctor! Look, you stay here and I'll go and see if there's any sign of them, okay? GRAHAM----Whatever you say. SARAH------Won't be long. GRAHAM----Okay. Graham watched Sarah leave and smiled as he caught sight of her bum in her tight trousers. He closed his eyes.
Meanwhile in the console room, Sarah switched on the scanner. Nothing, except the unwelcoming barrenness of the planet. She switched it off in frustration then opened the doors, took a few steps outside, looked around then returned inside.
SARAH------Where are they, K9? K9------------Mistress? SARAH------I just know the Doctor's got them all into trouble. Do you have any idea where they can be?
K9 started computing while Sarah sighed. K9------------In a room, mistress. SARAH------Are they all there? K9------------Affirmative. SARAH------Looks like he needs rescuing again. Come on, K9.
She went back outside, turned and saw K9 hadn't moved.
SARAH------Come on, K9! K9------------Negative, mistress. SARAH------What do you mean, negative? We've got to free the Doctor. K9------------My motor circuits have still failed, mistress. I cannot move. SARAH------What?! Oh, yes. I forgot. I'm sorry, K9. You track and I'll carry, okay? K9------------Affirmative.
Sarah went back, picked up K9, carefully balanced him on one leg and shut the doors.
SARAH------Straight ahead, mistress.
Back in the cell, the Doctors were increasingly getting on each others nerves.
DOCTOR 3---Why don't you just leave things to me? We'd have been out of here by now if it weren't for your interference. DOCTOR 7---I was only trying to help since you obviously needed it. DOCTOR 3---I did not! I maybe I, but I'm not stupid, you know. DOCTOR 7---I know. I just thought you'd appreciate the help of an older and wiser head. DOCTOR 3---Maybe. But unfortunately the door won't open no matter how many times I banged yours against it. JO------------Why don't you just accept defeat? ACE----------The Professor ain't no chicken! JO------------I didn't say he was. But they never open it unless it was like to put you lot in here. We get all our food - if you can call it that - and water through a hole in the wall. Face it. We'll never get out of here. ACE----------Don't be such a wimp! All we've got to do is blow up the wall, then! DOCTOR 7---No, Ace. ACE----------Why not? You never let me have any fun. DOCTOR 7---Don't I? It seems you have a very short memory, Ace. ACE----------Yeah. Well. If we blow the wall, we can get out and get back to the Tardis. DOCTOR 7---It won't do any good. It's metal too. ACE----------It's not! DOCTOR 3---I'm afraid it is, me dear. It's just painted to make it look like brick. JO------------It was one of the first things we tried when we got here. ACE----------Oh. So, what now? DOCTOR 7---I really have no idea. DOCTOR 3---Neither do I. ACE----------We've got to do something! We can't just sit on our arses and let them keep us here forever! JUANITA----Speaking of arses, I wonder if Sarah's safe? PATRICIA---If Graham's still asleep, she will be. JUANITA----You said the magic word - if. PATRICIA---Yeah, but she looks like she can look after herself. JUANITA----Hang on. Doctor? DOCTORS 3 & 7---Yes? JUANITA----The Scottish one. DOCTOR 7---I'm Gallifreyan, if you please. So, what do you want to know? JUANITA----Will Graham still be asleep? DOCTOR 7---Hard to say. Why? JUANITA----Poor Sarah, if he's not! PATRICIA---Can you smell something? JUANITA----Shouldn't have farted, then! PATRICIA---Cheeky cow! DOCTOR 3---She's right. Look!
They all looked at the door and saw it was being cut open from the outside.
DOCTOR 7---I think we'd all better get well away from the door. JUANITA----Why? DOCTOR 7---Because you don't want it to fall on you, do you? JUANITA----Oh. DOCTOR 7---Right. Now, be patient. This may take some time, and I do hope no one comes and stops our only hope of freedom.
Back in the room, Graham was exhausted. He wondered where Sarah was. He decided to go and look for her. He threw the covers back and stood, carefully testing the weight on his broken foot. He winced, but it wasn't too painful. He tentatively took a couple of steps, holding onto the walls to keep him steady as he limped around, trying to find the console room. When he eventually found it, he was disappointed to see it was empty. He also noticed K9 was gone. He made his way to the chair and fell in it. He was feeling miserable without Sarah to look at.
GRAHAM----She must have gone outside with that tin dog.
He looked around the walls for some sort of handle but couldn't see one. He noticed a difference in one of the walls.
GRAHAM----That must be it. But how to open it. He looked at the console and hobbled over to it.
GRAHAM----It must be one of these.
He wondered where to start and was getting frustrated after flicking several switches. Slowly he pulled the red-handled lever and grinned when the doors opened. He limped out and, as an afterthought, pulled the doors shut, when he worked out how to do it.
GRAHAM----Sarah! Sarah! SAR-
Before he could finish, he was jumped on and fell to the ground. He fought to turn over onto his back and smiled. GRAHAM----Sarah! Oh, Sarah. I was so worried. SARAH------Were you? Aren't you going to fight me? GRAHAM----Why? I don't want to fight you, Sarah. Call me stupid if you like, but I love you. SARAH------You do? GRAHAM----Yes. SARAH------Even though I look like this? GRAHAM----I don't care what you look like. SARAH------That's the sweetest thing anyone's ever said to me. GRAHAM----I can say more sweet things. SARAH------Please do. GRAHAM----Can I sit up? SARAH------Oh, sorry. GRAHAM----Thank you. SARAH------How much do you love me? GRAHAM----This much.
He pulled her towards him and kissed passionately.
Meanwhile, the cell door was almost cut open. The atmosphere was tense, wondering who or what was on the other side.
ACE----------Aren't you worried? DOCTOR 7---Should I be? ACE----------I hate it when you're so calm. They could be coming to murder us! DOCTOR 7---Don't worry, Ace. There's nothing to worry about except getting back to our respective Tardises as soon as possible. Ah, get ready to run as fast as you can, everyone. DOCTOR 3---I do hope you know what you're doing. DOCTOR 7---If you can't trust yourself, who can you trust?
Suddenly the door fell towards them. The seventh Doctor and his companions smiled.
DOCTOR 7---What kept you? SARAH------Lugging K9. He weighs a ton! Do you think, when you fix his motor, you can make him lighter too? DOCTOR 7---I'll do my best. No, don't come in. Get back to the Tardis as quick as you can. SARAH------But- DOCTOR 7---No buts. Just go. SARAH------Okay, Doctor (leaves). DOCTOR 3---Who was that? DOCTOR 7---You'll find out. DOCTOR 3---Why the big secret? DOCTOR 7---No secret. DOCTOR 3---You could've let her come in. DOCTOR 7---Best not to. You'll understand one day. Come on. Let's get out of here as fast as possible. JUANITA----You'll hear no argument from me, Doc. DOCTOR 7---Finally, a companion who gives me no trouble. You wouldn't fancy travelling with me permanantly, would you? PATRICIA---Best if she doesn't, Doctor. You don't want to ruin the illusion you have of her. JUANITA----I'd hit you if I knew it wasn't true. Sorry, Doc. She's quite right. Thanks for the offer though. DOCTOR 7---Fair enough. Shall we go? JO------------You try keeping me here!

Part 4
Back in the wilderness outside the Tardis, Graham and Sarah were lying on the ground.
SARAH------Now I know how much you love me. GRAHAM----Told you, didn't I? Er, by the way, you're not married, are you? SARAH------No. GRAHAM----Good. When we get back to Earth- SARAH------You're not going? GRAHAM----We are. SARAH------Why not stay here? We can be happy. GRAHAM----Here? SARAH------Of course. GRAHAM----Where will we live? SARAH------Come. I found somewhere. I will show you.
They heard a noise in the distance coming closer.
SARAH------Quickly!
Sarah got up and hauled Graham to his feet and he was dragged to who knows where just as the real Sarah - the one carrying K9 - and the others appeared.
ACE----------The Tardis! SARAH------At last! Hurry up and open it, Doctor. ACE----------Yeah. We don't want those things jumping on us again. PATRICIA---Seconded! JUANITA----Thirded! DOCTOR 7---Fourthed (opens door). Get inside, all of you.
Sarah, Ace, Juanita and Patricia didn't have to be told twice.
DOCTOR 3---Who was that girl with the tin dog? DOCTOR 7---No one important. Well, not yet anyway. DOCTOR 3---Well, this is where we must leave. DOCTOR 7---Is the Tardis far? DOCTOR 3---Not too far. Just over.... there, in fact. DOCTOR 7---(looks) So it is. Sentimental old thing, isn't she? DOCTOR 3---So much better than later models. Well, time to go, Jo. JO------------I hope you're not looking for an argument. DOCTOR 3---No. JO------------Good. Goodbye, er, Doctor. DOCTOR 7---Goodbye, Jo. Be happy. I know you'll look after me. DOCTOR 3---She has good taste. DOCTOR 7---I couldn't agree more. Goodbye. DOCTOR 3---Goodbye.
The seventh Doctor watched his past and Jo go to the Tardis a couple of metres away from his and sighed. His thoughts were interrupted by the others coming back out.
SARAH------Doctor! It's Graham! DOCTOR----What about him? SARAH------He's gone! DOCTOR----Gone? Oh dear. I wish I'd known the side-effects of the anaesthetic. I'm so sorry. ACE----------Not dead. Gone. Disappeared! DOCTOR----How? ACE----------There's only one way. DOCTOR----Humans! Where can he be? ACE----------After what happened to us, I dread to think. DOCTOR----What was he thinking of? (sighs) He could be anywhere. JUANITA----Do you think he's been captured? DOCTOR----I don't know. You all go back into the Tardis. ACE----------Why? DOCTOR----Because I don't want to be worrying about anything happening to you lot while I'm looking for him. ACE----------You can't go alone! DOCTOR----Why not? JUANITA----You're unarmed. DOCTOR----I have my umbrella and my wits, which are the only arms I need. Now, go in and stay there. ACE----------But- DOCTOR----If I'm not back in an hour, come and find me. Okay? ACE----------I suppose so. DOCTOR----Good. ACE----------But I don't like it. DOCTOR----Neither do I, but it's better if there's not a mob of us. Go on. I'll see you later.
They watched him wander off, stopping now and again as he checked for footprints until he'd disappeared. Then they all sloped back into the Tardis and closed the doors.
The Doctor eventually found Graham in a run-down wooden shack on the edge of a forest.
GRAHAM----Oh, hello, Doctor. What are you doing here? DOCTOR----I was about to ask you the same question. How's the foot? GRAHAM----Much better, thank you. DOCTOR----Come on, it's time to go. GRAHAM----Go? DOCTOR----Home. Back to Earth. GRAHAM----I don't want to go back to Earth. DOCTOR----Of course you do. Now, stop messing about. We have to leave. GRAHAM----I'll come back to the Tardis with you, but only to see you all off. DOCTOR----What's got into you? GRAHAM----I'm sorry, Doctor. But I'm afraid love is what's got into me. DOCTOR----Love? Who is there to love?
Graham looked towards the corner and the Doctor followed his gaze.
DOCTOR----You aren't serious! GRAHAM----I'm very serious. I've waited a long time to feel like this and I'm not going to give it all up now. And for what? A boring job on an expensive world. Sarah and I just want to be left in peace here. DOCTOR----Sarah? That's not Sarah. It's a side-effect of the drug. GRAHAM----It is. DOCTOR----It's not! Sarah's back in the Tardis! You're hallucinating! GRAHAM----I know what you're trying to do and it won't work. I want to stay here. You can't make me go back. DOCTOR----Can't I? GRAHAM----No. DOCTOR----No. I suppose I can't. But you're making an enormous mistake. GRAHAM----It's my life. DOCTOR----Yes, it is, isn't it? (sighs) All right, you can stay. But don't come crying to me when you do want to come home. GRAHAM----I can't very well, can I? DOCTOR----So, are you coming to wave us off, then? GRAHAM----Have you got some paper, a pen and an envelope, by any chance? DOCTOR----Yes. GRAHAM----Then I won't need to. May I have them? DOCTOR----What do you want them for? GRAHAM----To make Bowie CD's (!) What do you think?
The Doctor reluctantly handed the stationery over, warily keeping an eye on Graham's love who hadn't moved a muscle. Graham scribbled on the paper, put it in the envelope, wrote on it then handed them back to the Doctor.
GRAHAM----Thanks. DOCTOR----May I ask what you've written? GRAHAM----It's a letter to my parents. Bit of a lie really, but it should hopefully stop them asking too many questions. Can you ask either Patricia or Juanita to post it for me? DOCTOR----I'll try. What if they won't? GRAHAM----One of them will. Shouldn't you be on your way, Doctor? DOCTOR----Want to get rid of me? GRAHAM----Yes. DOCTOR----I can take a hint, even though you are making- GRAHAM----An enormous mistake. You've said. DOCTOR----I just hope you're not being forced into anything. GRAHAM----It's entirely my decision. DOCTOR----And mistake. GRAHAM----Goodbye, Doctor. Pleasant journey. DOCTOR----Is there nothing I can say to make you change your mind? GRAHAM----Not one word. DOCTOR----I'm sorry. Goodbye and good luck. GRAHAM----Aren't you going to wish me happiness? DOCTOR----I don't think you will be. The Doctor left and headed back to the Tardis. GRAHAM----Now, my love. Let's have a look at that lovely bum of yours.
The Doctor morosely entered the Tardis, closed the door, set the coordinates and stepped away from the console as they dematerialised.
JUANITA----Where's Graham? PATRICIA---Is he dead? DOCTOR----No. He's lost his mind, but he's not dead. JUANITA----Well, one out of two ain't bad! ACE----------You don't mean that. JUANITA----You don't know him. PATRICIA---Where is he, Doctor? DOCTOR----Isn't it obvious? PATRICIA---It's obvious he isn't here. So, what's going on? DOCTOR----He's asked if one of you two will post this. JUANITA----What is it? DOCTOR----What does it look like?! PATRICIA---All right! DOCTOR----I'm sorry. I shouldn't take it out on you because I'm angry with him. SARAH------But, what's he done? DOCTOR----He says he's fallen in love with you and the pair of you are going to live happily ever after back there. SARAH------I don't understand. DOCTOR----Neither do I. He says it's his own decision. But why does he think.... that is you? PATRICIA---Must be having wishful thoughts again! JUANITA----Now he's got them. Does he know it's not Sarah? DOCTOR----I tried to tell him but he wouldn't listen. JUANITA----He never does. Well, I hope he'll be very happy and knows what he's doing. DOCTOR----I get the feeling, he doesn't. Ah, here we are, girls. Back in London (opens doors). JUANITA----That was quick. PATRICIA---Can't wait to get rid of us, eh? DOCTOR----Not at all. Only I do have K9 to mend and Sarah to get home. JUANITA----We can take the hint. Ta, Doc. Its, er, almost been fun. See ya, Ace, Sarah (leaves). PATRICIA---Can't say much more to that. See ya too (leaves). DOCTOR----Right. Let's get you home then, Sarah. SARAH------And the roof fixed? DOCTOR----Er, yes.
------------------------------------
PATRICIA---Suppose we'd better get a stamp for this. JUANITA----I wonder how he's getting on up there? PATRICIA---Same as usual, I should imagine. Must've seen her arse then to get so fixated. JUANITA----Come on. We're not that late. Let's get back to the convention. PATRICIA---And forget all about Graham. JUANITA----Hooray! I never thought we'd ever manage to lose him. PATRICIA---Yeah, but who'll we have to take the piss out of now? JUANITA----Good point. Ah, but no murderous thoughts. I know which I prefer.
Up in space, Graham came over all funny. He closed his eyes and, when he opened them got a shock when he saw Sarah was, in fact, a green, six-tentacled blobby lady!
GRAHAM----Aaaargghh!
He fell backwards. She lost her balance and fell too, her backside completely smothering his face. She tried to get off with difficulty. When she did, it was too late. Graham was dead.
Back in the Tardis, the Doctor had deposited Sarah, repaired K9 and had arranged for the house to be mended with him paying. He decided to take him and Ace somewhere nice and safe to take his mind of his sad thoughts of Sarah's impending deathn so they continued on their journey.
The End
