Apart from the fact they've already done this story and any bombs would have been found everytime building work took place on the site, if there's a community centre to replace the one they knocked down in 1990, why has it never been mentioned before?

It was all stupid tonight. They have had at least 3 different buildings on that site so it would have been discovered. Even Reet and Doreen's scenes were crap! I noticed Liam was in 2 scenes yet had no lines. Is he an overpaid extra now? Barbara will be jealous

Let's see. We know the raincoat factory, flats, Baldwin's Casuals and now the houses. Must have been things before the raincoat factory.
LOL!

An absolute farce...where was everybody?...and why were Roy and Hayley there?..the cafe wasn't even in the cordoned off zone..and why was the older side of the street evacuated?..the bomb was sheltered by the new side of the street
when they did this in the old days ALL the cast were involved..and it gave you a feeling of community spirit
And i agree about the bomb..of course it would have been discovered before now..what was Roy on about..the mound of earth..when would there have been a mound of earth there??
and where the hell did that Community centre come from??..why not just all go into the doctors surgery waiting room??...and would there,in this day and age, really have been tea and coffee urns there??..I'm sure a modern community centre would have a drinks machine

it wasnt,t bad even if it was a bit of a Farce Roy and Hayley would be there because the street would be cordoned off because of the bomb so they wouldn,t be able to get back to the cafe , Dev would be in his shop or maybe had gone somewhere to buy stock, Kev in the garage and noone had thought to tell him , Sally wasn,t bothered but whos bothered about her ? Sophie maybe would be skiveing school as kids often do that. The Community Centre was around when Ena Sharples was in the Street Nick but was called the Mission Hall then I think but there hasn,t been any storylines mentioning it until its appeared in this one and the Tea and Coffee urns would be from then too not every hall is updated to coffee and tea machines too expensive to buy and they can,t afford them. I can,t wait until Sunny,Sean and Michelle love triangle storyline

Valda Valda Valda...a brief history lesson The mission of Glad tidings hall was demolished in 1968..Ena was the live in caretaker....it was pulled down along with the raincoat factory... After that the maisonettes were built where Valerie Barlow ended up getting electrocuted which caused them to catch fire, after that they were pulled down.... Then they built the warehouse and the Coronation Street community centre...Ena was caretaker of that till she left for St Annes in 1980....the first ownersw of the warehouse were Sir Julius Berlin then Mark Brittain..then in 1976 Mike Baldwin came up from London to take over and it became 'Baldwins casuals'... Then in 1989 the whole area was demolished and cleared ready for the current houses, factory, garage and shops that now occupy the site... This community centre is a new one and has never been mentioned before. Roy and Hayleys cafe is in Victoria Street outside of the cordon The trouble with these storylines nowadays is that they throw them in and a week later they are forgotten..when they did things like this in the old days it would have had reverbarations for months. Tyrone will now get rid of his metal detector and it will never be mentioned again I mean everyone seems to have forgotten that Mike,Ray and Fred have all died in the last year..its as if they never happenend

Wasn't Percy Sugden once the caretaker of the community centre ??

thank you for the history lesson Nick but I thought the mission hall was renamed the community centre and Ena was the caretaker then Percy Sugden at a later date and didn,t Emily also do something at the community centre for awhile after that?

Didn't Percy take over from Fred and Eunice? He moved in with Randy and his niece ended up marrying Bill Webster. When he was forcibly retired while Deirdre was on teh council he moved in with Emily for 'two weeks' while his new flat was being done up but ended up staying.
Nick you are so right. It's all crap. I know you didn't say that but all these pointless forgettable storylines make it crap. I have a good memory for what happened when it was twice a week because storylines and characters were developed. Now they're not. Instantly forgettable drivel. I haven't seen that yet but even Jez hates it which is saying something. Compare that to the original bomb scare when they holed up in the Glad Tidings Mission and there's a huge difference.

I remember Emily went to visit Percy at his new flat (somewhere away from the Street) but he was so lonely she ended up asking him to come back to live with her at Number 3! LOL Patsy - very true. Me slagging off Corrie must mean it really was tripe!

I thought it was a wonderful episode. It really brought the community spirit back. Roy as usual was his usual brilliant self. I did notice a continuity error though. When Jack took his pint from the Rovers it was half full. Then when he was sat down in the community centre, it was topped up again. And towards the end of the show the beer level was back to half full, yet you could see Jack swigging on that pint a lot. Do they have beer barrels in the community centre now? lol

Well I guess there is no real reason for the residents to mention the bomb scare now - its 'old news'.

But as they claim to portray real life, in real life events like that would be long talked about. Everything is so quickly forgotten in their desperate need to fill 5 eps a week.
