LOL! I wouldn't mind that as long as I could wallop Norris during Reet's absence. Deborah, your plaque ones came out so much better than mine. My Pat Phoenix one especially was really bad. So the fags were there all the time in the Kabin then? I only noticed last month because they were behind to the left before. Oh I'd love to see them, Pearly, especially the Sherlock Holmes ones. I was never a fan of SH, unlike my mum, but I really loved the Granada version. Can you scan them? Patsy

Thanks Nick. I really was very lucky. I booked my trip on the Dec. 21st, was invited on the set Jan. 21st, went to the UK in May, then not long after Jayne finished filming. It's amazing how it all worked out.
My mom and dad arrived in Manchester yesterday, first time back to the UK in 10years. I wanted to go with them so bad.

Excellent photos Deb...and they are something to treasure forever. I still treasure my Rovers Return fridge magnet that I have pride of place on my filing cabinet. One day I would love to buy the patten for the cross stitch Corrie themes and hang them with immense pride on my walls but I just can`t afford it yet.

I used to go to Manchester every other summer, but only to the airport. Then in 95 I went to the UK for the first time with my husband Al. We'd watched Corrie for 2 weeks then, so Al could see what England was like. My uncle asked what we wanted to do while over and al said go to Coronation Street. We didn't know about the tours, but the next day we were there and Al's first pint in the UK was in The Rovers. With only watching the show for 2 weeks we didn't really appreciate the tour as much as we should have. Luckily we were given another chance to go a few years later. In 2004 we went to the studios like Jez and stood at the studio gates for 7 hours. We met Audrey, Mike, Sunita, Tyrone, Ashley, Jason, Norris, Ken and Kevin. Had a great time. We also went to the Museum and saw the street. Excellent Deborah - you were so lucky to get a tour and go onto the actual sets. Well done. I have a pic somewhere of where Davenports was filmed so will have to scan it and add to this thread. They still have the outside of Davenports there now even though we havent seen it on screen since 2005!

Fantastic, Deborah! You even got to stand behind the counter at the Kabin - Patsy will be soooo jealous! I went to the Studio Tours in 1995, with my mum, my little brother and his friend (none of whom were fans, just me) It was a good day out, but a tiring journey from London. As well as the Street, they had a Sherlock Holmes Baker St set, a special effects show, a House of Commons debate, and a demonstration of how they present the weather - my brother was chosen to demonstrate. We took photos - on paper, in the old fashioned way, but I wouldn't know how to translate them onto a website. I remember they showed us how to do the weather when we were on the tours Pearly. It was so cool at the time. Being only about 13 I had no idea they stood in front of a blank screen and not a screen with the actual maps on. LOL! They also had a replica of the This Morning set on the tours, as well as Sherlock Holmes and Downing Street.

I remember the weather as well Jez. I got picked to go and point the stick on the screen- not knowing where any of the places were they were talking about.
Funny they never took the Davenport signs down. I remember being surprised when I saw them last year.

I guess they wont until they need that building for something else. I know they use another one of those buildings for the outside of the police station.

I feel quite mad that Granada had the gall to put up a plaque for Bryan Moseley considering the shabby way that poor man was treated. Publicly fired and weeks later he died of a heart attack...more likely died of a broken heart bless him. I`ve always loved Alf Roberts - he was a wonderful character over the years and he always seem so real to me.

Patsy I've dug out the pics, but there are none of Baker Street. The ones i do have aren't the best quality. Unfortunately I don't have a scanner, but I could ask around in case someone else has one and could help me out.

They really should run a Corrie weekend every year or something so us fans can have a chance to meet the cast and visit the set. Once a year wouldnt cause disruption to filming especially over the weekend.
If they did re-open the tours though how much do we think they would charge?

If they did re-open the tours though how much do we think they would charge? When we went it was a special offer combined train/entrance ticket, which only cost about £25.00 adults and £9.00 children. This was a real bargain - return train travel London to Manchester, plus entry to the Granada Studios tour. I think it cost about a tenner if you just paid on the door. Many tourist attractions in London currently cost around £15.00- £22.00, which is a fair whack if you're paying for a medium sized family. Some places have concessions or family tickets, but not everywhere. Places like the Tower of London, London Dungeon and Madame Tussauds are the worst value because you don't get to spend as long as you want in the venue: you are herded round, then suddenly find yourself in the souvenir shop by the exit. When we were in Blackpool a few years back it was much more reasonable than London, but not exactly cheap either. Corrie bosses would probably like to charge London prices, but I don't think they would get away with it: £15.00 or so would be reasonable if visitors were allowed to stay on the premises all day long and see everything at their leisure.

The pics from our visit to Granada Studios Tour in 1995. Me in the cafe My mum in the Rovers. Me in the Rovers. Me in the Duckies. Me in the Rovers doorway. Me reading a paper outside the Kabin. Me outside Holdsworth's corner shop. My mum knocking on the Duckies' door. My mum standing on the sacred cobbles. The young man with his face blacked out in some of them is my brother, who's shy.

That's it, Pearly. I am officially jealous. You've been able to touch all of Reet's residences and I hate you! LOL!
The Duckies' set is tiny. Blimey. The power of television to create such an illusion.
Thanks for posting those. They're great.

Well they always say things are mutual, don't they? But then they also claim to film multiple endings and we all know they talk out of their backsides. I very much doubt it was Bryan's idea. Not really much anyone can do when they won't renew a contract. Your job is in their hands.
Corrie take their fans for granted. Any more news on this resuming of tours?

I would be willing to pay £25 to visit, even though I do think its too much id pay that to visit the Corrie set! I think it was around £13 when we went in 1996. But in the Corrie magazine there was a special offer of £3 off each person so we got in for a tenner which was more reasonable.
Excellent photos Pearly - I like the one by the Corner Shop where you can see the side of the studios where we wait for the cast! It looks so different back in 1995. There looks to be a different building opposite and there are tree's at the bottom of the road.

Prices rise. It depends what they include though. I mean a tour wouldn't be a patch on what it used to be because they knocked a lot of it down to pointlessly copy EE. I wouldn't pay £25 just for Corrie. I would for what they had before.

Yes I know prices rise. Im just saying that the time (Mid 1990s) £13 was quite expensive. But they have added so many new bits like the cafe/kebab show/butchers/health centre and now the new flats.
Id pay £25 just to set foot on those cobbles.

£13 was nothing back then. You could get more for it that you can now. LOL!
Yes but then the tour will be very boring unless that's ALL you're interested in. What about the things they used to have? It used to be one of the country's top 10 attractions. It will never be that again with just Corrie. I'd much prefer a proper tour. You pay that sort of money you expect more. I've done tours which have turned out to be the biggest waste of money ever because of the little included to see. I certainly wouldn't go all that way just for Corrie. Have to be a lot more to entice me.

Well it depends on how much money you had/have. £13 might not have been much to you but to some people it was a lot. I was only 15 then so had just pocket money.
Well we all have different opinions of whether we would go. I personally would as id like to visit the set as it is now. Its a long time since I went on the tours last. Of course they would have to provide other things like a restaurant/cafe, backstage tours of the inside sets, a bar in the Rovers etc.

Easy for you to say.
When you're bringing your kids with you on a day out, it's not just the entrance fee, it's all the the refreshments, restaurants, snacks, drinks, gift shops etc. that trap you into spending much more in these sort of tourist attraction places. Me too - I'd be happy to pay £20 - £25 for myself for a good day out, but when you're bringing kids with you it just gets too expensive. Sports events like major football and rugby matches are the same - very expensive, but people still pay it if they think it's important. The difference is - often these things are on tv, so everyone can see it for free. Granada Studios tour is unlikely to be a televised event - it wouldn't be interesting enough to watch on telly - it's the sort of thing that you have to experience first hand. And only true fans would go on this tour - so they shouldn't overcharge, they should welcome their fans not exploit them.

Im not saying they should charge £25, im just saying personally I would be willing to pay that amount. Id be happy to pay whatever amount they charge to be honest as I love Coronation Street. So yes it is 'Easy for me to say' as you put it.
I dont have kids so I dont have the problem of having to take them along and spend loads on refreshments and in the gift shops. In the event I did have children then I would either not take them with me as they might not be interested anyway, or limit the amount of "gifts" I bought them to a resonable amount.
