All these tourist attractions are money spinners.
It's a shame when they overcharge genuine fans.
Stuff like the Tower of London etc is all very well and good, it's authentic history and all - but are the visitors 'fans'? Or are they tourists who just think they should see certain things for the sake of it before they go home?
Visiting Granada studios tours should be reasonably priced - so that fans will be pleased to pay to get in, and not feel ripped off.

Sometimes not being able to have them is an advantage. Think of all that money you save. Although come to think of it, I should be a zillionaire by now. LOL!
Jez, at the time you went I had absolutely NO money coming in. I had three operations between 1992 and 1996 as well as medical treatment during that for 18 months and the buggers wouldn't even give me sickness benefit because it wasn't what they classed as incapacitating. My parents paid for me to go to the Czech Republic in 1995, using whatever was left over for Holland, because they thought I needed a break after a tough couple of years. I'd have loved to have even HAD £13 because I didn't even have savings then. You paid it so can't really complain. People worse off couldn't have even gone especially, as Pearly says, they had kids.

Americans seeing the 'quaint old country' and Japanese taking photos of anything that moves - or doesn't. I went to one Dr Who day at Longleat with my friend Jo who came down from Redcar. No ripping off at all. You just paid your normal entrance fee and even the merchandise was lower in price than normal. That's the way any resumed tours ought to be. But they'd probably charge top whack (or whatever they could get away with) for merchandise. ITV are just too greedy these days to care about fans of anything. Patsy

I agree its a shame they overcharge people who are genuine fans like we are. I can understand how paying £25 would be a lot for an average family of 4, even if the kids went for half price it would still be around £75, and when you take into account lunch and train fares etc you are looking at well over £100 for a day out which is a lot. Also its not just visits to the set they would rip us off for - they seem to charge a lot for books and DVD's about Corrie these days. Wasnt the Corrie Treasures book RRP £30 which is a lot for a book.

I never bought that purely because of the price. If it had been a tenner or at the very least £15 I probably would have.

Patsy Oh I know. My sisters kids are spoilt as she buys them everything they want. They dont value money at all. Give them a fiver and they look at you as if its 50p. A lot of kids dont appreciate what they have these days. We used to. Well I was 15 so I had no money of my own either. I got pocket money but that was money given to me by my mum really which she went out to work for so it was her money I was spending LOL! My dad gave up work in 1994 at the age of 53 due to ill health and has been on mobility ever since so my parents were/are hardly rich. I had to save to go as it wasnt just the enterance fee, I bought two of the Corrie videos (released in 1990) which were around £8 each. So I probabaly had to save a few weeks pocket money for that. I used to buy lots of Corrie related stuff out of my pocket money including the Corrie mag which was monthly, and the timelife videos. OK so my mum would have given extra money for us to have food as I remember there was one of those burger places on the Granada site. And my brother and sister and myself paid for our parents to go on holiday to Italy last year for their Ruby wedding present, so we do nice things for them too.

LOL! Mine aren't rich either. My dad cashed in a life insurance policy to send me on holiday and my mum gave me the spending money from her savings. Bloody good job there was plenty of koruna to the pound back then. LOL! I didn't realise until I got back just how much I needed that break.
When I was at senior school I had £1 a week pocket money while my friends were getting a fiver. I felt so inadequate so do know how you felt and I only had one parent working. But the value of £13 was nothing compared to now because it went further. That's what I'm saying. Granada are so greedy they'd probably charge £40.
Can't be arsed now. LOL!

Great photos Pearly queen. I know a lot of Canadians who would be more than happy to pay 25 pounds to go on the set. Lots would even pay two, three, four times that. There's a trip each Sept from Canada that is about 2000 pounds- 10 days in the UK and includes a trip to the set. Many pay that price just so they can see Corrie. www.kemptvilletravel.com/index.php?id=78Last year when I was in York I found mostl the tourist places very expensive. Thank goodness we didn't have kids. Unfortunately these days they try and get as much out of you as they can.

LOL! Id probabaly pay £40 as well. Call me mad but id pay that amount just to visit Corrie. Well people pay ridiculous amounts of money for other things these days and visiting the Corrie again set would be at the top of the things id most like to do!
Thats true Deborah - they charge a lot at most tourist attractions these days, the refreshments in particular the put the prices up for especially if there isnt anywhere else you could go for lunch or a drink. Its good though that the science museum in Manchester is free. Did you know they have covered the windows now so we cant see the Corrie set?

I didn't know they'd covered up the windows at the museum. That's too bad. On Sunday I watched the episode I saw being filmed when I was at the museum last May. It was a scene where Steve had picked up the Connors from their trip to Ireland for Paul's funeral. (yes, we're that far behind. LOL) Five times we saw Steve drive the taxi in front the Kabin, Michelle, Ryan, Liam and Carla got out and they got the cases out the trunk. They could have done the scene more than 5 times, but that's what we saw and to think that clip was only 2 seconds.

They must have done that to the windows sometime between August and February as last August I could see the set!
