I have to admit that Episodes Three and Four are really good, with Episode Four upping the mystery quite a bit as Betty learns something surprising about her father.
Episode 3 had Betty's Queens connections getting a top photographer to shoot for Mode. She had an hilarious makeover which Willemenhia totally put down. The biggest surprise for me was that I actually felt a slight bit of empathy for Willemenhia - whose father arrived in town. I didn't guess that it was her father at all, assuming that it was her boyfriend. I think they can develop her quite a bit as the season continues - so we can discover why she is the way she is. Also the episode showed that Daniel hasn't had a great life at all, living in the shadow of his brother.
about 7/10
Episode 4 showed how well Betty has done in such a short time, and was really funny once again. The drama factor was upped, with Fey Sommers plans for revenge hotting up. I don't want to say too much about the episode, as you all have to wait until next week to see it - but IMO it was one of the best so far. A sweet ending as well, but with a surprise for Betty about her father.
9/10

I thought Episode 3 was better than episode 2. And the more I see of Daniel the more I really like him. I think the Fay mystery is getting very interesting, it alone gives you a purpose to keep watching. The A Plot was okay but was predictable how it would be sorted out. Following the same pattern as the previous 2. However all the Queen's stuff was fun.
Besides from Daniel himself, the characters are starting to be better defined now. Amanda is really shaping up to be a good bitch. I find Wilhelmina too much of a panto dame still though. I still think this show is very much pitched at children and possibly wouldn't tape it if I had to miss it, but it is something I'm happy to watch if I am around.
Shall look forward to episode 4.
Oh almost forgot is Alan Dale sounding more Australian each week? The first week he did well to hide his accent? The second week it chopped and changed but by tonight there was no mistaking that he was Jim Robinson in Neighbours. I hope he keeps his real accent now. It suites him better.

Glad you liked Episode 3 Lane. I totally agree that Daniel is quite a likeable character really. More so than his father anyway who seems quite evil. Amanda is a bitch, but she has a nicer side (seen slightly in Episode 4). She is really, really funny in Episode 4.
Wilhelmina is a true panto dame, but she was softened slightly in Episode 3 don't you think?

Just love this show - IMO one of the most original things on TV for ages. So now that DH is also back for a new season, there at least two things worth watching during the week!

Agreed as our TV really sucks these days. In the next few days I'll get a thread up for Ugly Betty linking to the video promos, episode titles and spoilers from the ABC press site and schedule info.

Episode Five was another really good episode, even if it was slightly confusing since it is set at Halloween, and episode four was centred around the Christmas edition of Mode magazine.
Again I ended up having sympathy for poor Wilhemnia, while Daniel learns quite a bit about his father and Fay Sommers. Overall another good episode, which mixed the comedy with the darker scenes very well.

The series seems to be improving every week - and Salma Hayek is brilliant as the magazine editor.

Yep - agreed. I'm getting more hooked on it every week, and ... ...she's also gorgeous.

Brilliant twist at the end of last night's show. There was us thinking that the 'mystery woman' recovering from a bad accident was ex-editor Faye, and it turns out to be Daniel's supposedly dead brother Alex, now re-incarnated as the gorgeous Alexis!!
This show contunues to entertain on all levels - we just love it!

I have watched this show once, when it was relatively new, and although I thought it was good they were focusing on the 'plain Jane' Betty, rather than the ambitious and gorgeous, and the others were so glamorous, I could not help thinking there was something missing, and I cannot think of what it is. Maybe they were just needing to come into themselves, as it was very new at the time.

I thought it was improving, then I missed one or two and haven't been able to get back into it. Has it really improved as I might have to try and give it a go again. I think I got to episode 6 or 7? I see the ratings have considerably dipped since it started.

To be honest, I haven't bothered with it since, so maybe I should have another look.
