The "Get It Off Your Chest" area is a trial. Please let us know if you like the idea? If it is a success then may be the whole of Let's Talk Soap can have one big one for everything. However Corrie is the one thing that is causing the most controversy at the moment so hence why it is being tested here.
Corrie's getting a lot of flack and some subjects like Kate Ford have always been an issue of many arguments. So this area was set up for people to let out their frustrations. May be you think there should be less episodes, may be you love it how it is but no one else will agree with you?
This is the place for all arguments or if you just want a rant or a moan. This is the place for good and bad. Hence why Kate Ford has a fan area for her fans to be able to show their appreciation without anyone coming down their back. To keep things fair there is also a place for the Kate Ford critics to post where they can let it all out without anyone saying to them you are being too nasty.

There had been some complaints about negative posts however we don't believe in deleting anyone on these boards. So this seemed like a nice idea where people can go on to their heart's content and others won't condemn themfor it.

Yeah. Us lot moaning about how crap The KF Show is. No disrespect to those who did complain but we're ahead of them so they've still got fairly decent stuff.

I think this is a good idea. But can I ask why Kate Ford has been singled out. We could start up a thread for postive/negative comments for any number of actors on the show but she is the only 1. Im not complaining just interested why.

Probably because no one has had as many complaints as her in entertainment history. But then, she's also been rammed down our throats far more over the past almost 3 years more than anyone else in Corrie's history. I'm sure when they finally get rid the threads will be deleted. But I think other good/appalling is a good idea.

Jez people complained about the Kate Ford complaints. She was singled out in the general feedback the admins have been getting. And I do know people sometimes feel they can't post they like her without fear of being shouted down. So she deserved to have an area where her fans feel safe to post.
However by doing a thread for the Kate Ford fans it seems only fair that her critics also had an area where they could rant to their hearts content. Like it or not there is no mistaking that Kate Ford is one of the most controversial casting choices in Coronation Street history. This has been said by Daran Little himself back in July 2003. Since then the condemning of poor Kate and I do mean poor Kate to a point, has got far worse. Even you have said recently you feel that she may not be such a good actress after all and you are one of her biggest fans. And you are not alone.
Everyone is able to set up any threads they like in here. It is your area to go on unmoderated as much as you like within reason. We will also have to check but I have a feeling that no members can even post in this area too.
I hope that explains it a bit better than my first post where I did think I had explained why she had been singled out?

Everyone's a person. But when you're in the spotlight you're bound to get more criticism than the average man and woman on the street. It's part of the job description. She, like TPTB, clearly ignore it all otherwise she'd make more of an effort to improve her performance.

It does say in the anti KF one that keep to opinions and facts and don't muddle the two. If you see anything you don't like you can always complain. The advantage to having an anti Kate Ford thread does mean those like you and I who get sick of keep reading the same complaints don't need to. They are more contained in their little bit and poluting everywhere else. However Jez YOU CAN'T STOP FREEDOM O F SPEECH. It is a message board and people are entitled to their opinions and you just have to find a happy medium. People are complaining about going into lots of threads and finding anti Kate Ford things however people will als quite rightly complain if we ban Kate Ford discussions. |

Yeah. CSVU kept banning it but it kept creeping back in even with threats of deletion. Not that they need an excuse. As you know, all you have to do on there is say Barbara Knox is great and they delete it and you get banned. Then they turn around and claim they have nothing against her! The only freedom of speech on places like that is what they allow you to say.

I`ve vented my spleen on quite a few ocassions with Shelley Unwin (the character, not the actress). I know it happens in real life what has happened to Shelley, and I know in theory it is a good storline..... but it`s dragging on far too long. How many times can she say "I`m sorry Charlie, I love you Charlie" without me reaching for a bucket to hurl in? And I`m sure I`m not the only one.
I used to like Shelley when she first joined, but lately she`s known to me now as Shelly

Anyone who invests their time in watching a programme is fully entitled to complain if it was badly made, badly written, badly acted or a particular scene or character offends. Congrats and back-slapping are more suitable for the realms of awards ceremonies and fan-mail, and a place to vent spleen on message boards is usually more necessary.

I know I cant stop freedom of speech. But you and Patsy would get sick of me posting for example that Emmerdale is crap constantly in threads. Im not saying Emmerdale is crap, im just giving an example as I know you and Pats love Emmerdale. Everyone is entitled to think and say that they like about KF of course, I just think it went too far sometimes. Im used to it though, people have been slagging off KF since the old days on the Granada Plus forums. |
