I know Norris is a popular character and a lot of people here like him.... but I can`t stand him. And here`s why....
He treated Derek Wilton like dirt and even mocked him in front of his wife at his funeral. He hasn`t paid a penny into Ritas business but still expects all the rewards of a partnership and is petty as hell with freebies such as pens. Wanted to sue Roy for Norris slipping in the cafe and ruin Roys hard earned business and reputation into the bargain Makes fun of Ken Barlow, but still expects Ken to do his dirty work when Norris is on a free holiday to Budepest. Treats every kid at the Kabin like a potential shoplifter.
Has Norris every done anything nice for anybody??? I can`t recall.

He also cheated in that pub quiz the other night.
Norris is ok in small doses but he annoys me. How Reet puts up with him day in day out ive no idea. No wonder she drinks lots of Voddy!

He annoys the hell out of me too, but I love him as a character - the Street just wouldn't be the same without him, and some of the bickering between him and Reet is priceless.

You're right CG - he is quite nasty, but he's meant to be. I love the character - he's a perfect example of the bitter and frustrated older man, who has failed in life and is desperate to put one over on anyone at any opportunity.
Reet must be quite fond of him deep down - she wouldn't want someone wittier or tougher than herself as a partner - just someone who can parry a bit and accept his role as inferior, yet proud enough to work hard.

He annoys me but I agree he is meant to be like that.
The bickering between Norris and Reet can be amusing sometimes but not anywhere near as good as Mave and Reet were. Reet was definately very fond of Mave and often referred to her as her best friend (yet she also referred to Bet as her best friend too!). Im not sure whether Reet is that fond of Norris?

I felt sorry when the cops nicked him for making a citizen's arrest on Ryan. I feel there is more mileage in the Norris/Ryan war, especially now the Connors live above the Kabin. More classic Norris material on the horizon...be warned!

Mave was more her equal. Norris is her handmaiden.
As Reet and Norris is practically all I watch of it the bickering and storyline are really tedious. I would much rather watch Reet and Mave. They were wittier and they weren't tied together 99% of the time for stories.

The only scene I enjoyed with Norris in it was when he dressed up as Eartha Kitt...he was superb. I`m glad that Reet can see how petty Norris can be and cuts him down to size. But it really bothers me how rude Norris is to the Kabin customers. If Norris had been my employer he wouldn`t have lasted 5 minutes....let alone be a partner.

No and they made Reet too weak over the years to deal with him properly. If Mave had ever been like that she'd have given her hell.

When I put Reet and Alan onto separate tapes I included a lot of Reet and Mave and love watching them. I could never watch Reet and Norris like that.

If Norris got himself a budgie he might be more likeable.

Its a shame that Rita didn`t show Mave the same courtesy like she did Norris and offer Mave a free partnership. I almost fell off my chair in yesterdays Corrie when Norris was being nice to Chesney. A new gentler kinder Norris on the way perhaps?

Was it really a free partnership? Didn't he have to buy a share? I can't imagine Reet GIVING anything away?

He's meant to have bought a share in it after practically blackmailing her into it. She only give in because she really didn't want to lose her slave. Wouldn't have otherwise seeing as she hates him. But he's a junior partner. I reckon 0.0000000000000000000000000000000000001/8 of a percent. Patsy
