Who do you think should be the next doctor..??...these are a mixture of possible contenders and a few ideas of my own......Why shouldn't Tom or Peter come back ..there is no law saying he can't regenerate back into an old Doctor...or a woman

I have voted for Bill Nighy..i think he would be ideal...an air of slightly batty, dishevelled aristocracy....David Tennant would be a mistake..his career is just taking off,I don't think he would stay long

I haven't seen Bill Nighy in anything (keep meaning to watch Love Actually but forget). As a woman I don't want a woman Doctor. I think doing that would pander to the PC brigade. After all, there's plenty of female fans of the show who don't want a woman either. I'd much rather have a man and preferably one over 50 who's hired for ability rather than looks. Ideally I'd go for Paul McGann and discount CE. BUT he said at Stockton he wouldn't play the part again on TV so that rules him out. Not sure. Don't want any hanky panky in the Tardis either. A companion should be just that and nothing else.

i agree patsy..no hanky panky.......I wouldn't want to see a female doctor either..but I remember back in about 1990 there was talk of Joanna Lumley taking over the role

She was okay in the Comic Relief skit but that's all. She hasn't got what it takes anyway. She's posher than Pertwee. JNT started that woman rumour originally when Tom left I think. Any old crap he'd spout. We don't need hanky panky in the Tardis. It'll turn it into any other programme that has to have sex between friends rather than just being friends. Let's hope there isn't any.

I know you don't count it any more than I do, Nick, but what did you think of the kiss in the McGann film? I thought that was cack. If that had gone to series, they'd have probably had him jumping into bed with everyone breathing! Didn't think much of the half-human crap either.

Just as long as he doesn't keep saying, "I don't belieeeeeeeeeve it!". LOL!
Saw Geraldine Alexander (Areta in Vengeance on Varos" in Midsomer Murders. I had to laugh when she said "To hell with the birds!" After all, she was almost turned into one!

the kiss should never have happenend..plus also the Doctor must be aware that he is Galifreyan (is that right)..and surely you can't 'cross pollinate' with a human, who after all is a different species..........

The Doctor is a superior being, not a human being, and so should have no earthly romance type feelings. ( Even though that Jabe fancied him ) ;D
I have seen another name in the frame now...Michael Maloney. ( or is it Mahoney ) ?

Although I'm sure there's cross-pollinating between the drippy Andred and Leela on Gallifrey. Probably done in the Time Lord labs though. Remember the Doctor's affection for Cameca in The Aztecs? I laughed when he choked on his cocoa after she announced they were engaged. But there wasn't any more too it that fondness. He didn't jump her behind the hedge. I hate that TV Movie and also hate the way the half-human b/s is being accepted in fandom.

Tom was my Doctor although I know I watched The Three Doctors. I was amazed watching that on UK Gold 20 years later I remembered the UNIT building going through the black hole. However, I must have been traumatised by the spiders being responsible for the death of the Doctor the following year because I remembered absolutely nothing of Tom's years even though I know I watched because I always wanted a scarf and bought Dr Who Weekly! LOL!

I can't even remember that. We've got this sort of funny shaped hole on the toilet wall that I've always called Tom Baker because it looks like a face (blank) with curly hair. LOL! I do remember being bored with it when Davison took over so until UK Gold didn't watch it any more except Remembrance after all that hype about Daleks setting alarms off and people thinking the explosions were the IRA.
I see the Beeb are back-tracking now about CE's reasons for leaving. Is he trying to save face? After all, it makes no difference. The anger would still be there when he didn't turn up in series 2 even if they'd kept it quiet. And why apologise now? Why not the same day or day after?

From what I have been reading, being in Doctor Who has fast tracked CE to Hollywood, which is what he wanted.!!
