I really enjoyed the 7th Doctor Virgin novel Human Nature and this could have been just as good if it wasn't for their obsession that every companion loves the Doctor! They'll be saying Ian, Jamie, Ben, Harry, Adric and Turlough were in love with him next! Patsy

Well we actually sat down and watched this weeks episode...nothing special....ok.....I agree patsy...it seems every companion is destined to fall in love with The Doctor...I think that is Russell T Davies' way of expressing his 'love' for first Christopher Ecclestone and now his crush on David Tennant ;D

Maybe they mean love as in love for a friend rather than romantic feelings?
Either way ive given up watching now and only saw the first 3 of this series.

Same here jez - it's no longer 'Must See' TV, and I don't even bother to record it any longer if I'm busy/elsewhere on a Saturday evening.

I have missed the last two and there will be no point watching the next as it's part two.
I haven't the same enthusiasm any more.

This episode should restore the faith in the few who have lost the faith in the show. It was brilliant, backed by some terrific acting.

Love as in love, Jezziekins. Not the fondness and friendship of the original series. Even now, thanks to this drivel, they're trying to make out the Doctor loved Jo Grant and was jealous of her going off with Cliff. Not to mention the insinuation last series about Sarah Jane Smith and rewriting the circumstances surrounding her original exit to make it something it never was. The Doctor was their best friend and nothing more.
Hasn't restored mine, Yasmin. The book was hard to put down and one of the best Virgin New Adventures ever. This is a poor version. For one thing the novel was set in 1914 after the war had started and there are so many changes including removing Joan rescuing the Doctor leading to him proposing. We'll have to wait and see if the boy in this starts turning into a Time Lord, is murdered by the school bully and returns to life or in part 2. Probably not since the aliens have stormed the dance (school in the book) and that all happened before then.

I thought that this was brilliant, and as Yasmin said restored my faith in the series. The third series/season has been decidedly patchy so far - with plenty of potential being wasted by RTD's rubbish writing or desire to have CGI every single episode. But this was good, with all the actors on top form, especially the woman playing the nurse.
Patsy - I am sure the book was better, as is always the case.

Funny how a 7th Doctor story is so highly praised for the 10th Doctor. I wouldn't be surprised if previous New Adventure and Missing Adventure writers who work on this start adapting their books because they've run out of ideas.
