its a funny do..Archie Shuttleworth used to be Audreys best friend, helping her through the Richard Hillman business..and now he's dissapeared and never gets a mention...I know Roy Hudd gave up the role, but he could have a mention occasionally

It would be nice for him to get the odd mention. I was sad to see Archie leave, I would have loved to have seen him and Audrey get married. They would have made a great couple.

Yea, they would hv! But, its a soap @ the end of the day, isnt it? If my memory serves me correctly the last time he was metioned was when Sally was on her taking over the garage and Rosie is a star streak and she asked Audrey who Archie has his vehicles serviced by and also i think that er... Was shortly after Billy died.

Your right, it is just a soap afterall! LOL It is sad though to see good characters leave. Harry hasn't left here in Canada yet, but he is another one I will miss. He gets a lot of good lines!

yes I thought it was a shame Harry was axed..his character wasn't given enough time to develop..and he could have been a good romantic attachment for Eileen

I didn't like the way after Richard, Archie became your usual boring character. He was great but all rumours of his return are always news to Roy Hudd. There they are letting Debra Stephenson and others go off and do things but wouldn't let him have time off to record his News Huddlines.
Agree about Harry. There are worse characters they could have axed.

Regarding Archie: This is from The Daily Express in December
Actor Roy Hudd ( Who played undertaker Archie Shuttleworth )said:
" I am thinking of returning to the series for a limited run. We are in talks. My problem is that I live in Suffolk and the series is filmed in Manchester" " It used to be an easy show to do. I once went up on the train, had a pint in the Rovers, sat there, then went home. But now it's five shows a week and a full on commitment." " There was talk of killing off my character, but they won't do that. They are keeping it open for me.

I knew I had read it somewhere.I didn't realise it was as long ago as December.
He makes it sound as if he was in it years and years ago..it was 5 episodes when he was in it before wasn't it?

The months have flown - again.
It was 5 a week when he had a more permanent role in the Richard Hillman storyline then left because they wouldn't let him do The News Huddlines so I don't know what he's talking about there. Then he came back briefly and it was still 5 a week.
