Karl and Susan decide to remarry and Izzy goes into labour at the wedding leading to Susan finding out about the baby being Karl's.

It depends Jezzy luv. If the BBC take off Neighbours yet again for the Wimbledon fortnight this year then we`ll be 2 more weeks behind. As it is, the UK is about13-14 weeks behind Oz in episodes. It was only a week or so ago that the UK had the Christmas eppies. So it will be about the end of June/beginning of July when we get to see these episodes

About 10 weeks then since we are 9 weeks behind currently (assuming we dont take any breaks)

We were about 9 weeks and a day behind when I got back last year then it stretched.

I think if they didn't take it off every so often, we would almost be neck and neck.
Both Neighbours and Home And Away cast have quite long holidays.
I remember the days when we were nearly 2 years behind.

Has H&A ever taken a break in the UK like Neighbours has?

Home and Away hasnt since it started on Five in July 2001. This is because it ended on ITV in June 2000 and when five started showing it in 2001 we were over a year behind as we picked up where ITV left off. We are now only 11 weeks behind as we havent taken a break at all whilst Oz take 6-8 week breaks a year.
Neighbours is different as it takes 3-4 weeks off which means the BBC have to drop it at least that amount a year as well.

Neighbours I know is definitely off 2 weeks over Christmas in Oz. Originally it was only 4 times a week there while we had 5 so caught up really fast. I don't know when they went to 5 times.

Which has the highest ratings out of the two? Neighbours or Home & Away?

In the UK Neighbours, in Oz Home and Away. The reason Home and Away gets less in the uk is because its on Five which gets the lowest ratings overall out of the main 5 channels. When it was on ITV it got loads more viewers.
IMO Home and Away is far better than Neighbours in terms of characters and storylines, but I guess Neighbours is more realistic.

When H&A first started, I prefered it to Neighbours. The thing is, Neighbours is on twice a day in the UK isn`t it Jez? lunchtime and teatime. Maybe those figures are added together.

They used to be added but when BARB went a bit loopy and ratings stopped appearing in mags and papers, they now only count one showing.
I agree about H&A. Neighbours had started going stale by the time that hit out screens.

Home and Away is also shown twice as well - but the difference is it gets a repeat the following day rather than the same 2 episodes the same day. Home and Away also gets a first look episodes a day ahead on Five Life, plus an omnibus on Saturdays.

Thanks for the info Jez. Do you know when the Oz channel will be up and running in the UK? You`re so lucky getting that channel, I`m so envious.

The Broadcasters' Audience Research Board. They deliver the ratings based on estimates. High time with all this technology they got it accurate.
