Linda Thorson quits Fri 3 Aug
Emmerdale star Linda Thorson, who plays the evil Rosemary King, will leave the soap this autumn, itv.com can exclusively reveal.
Rosemary can currently be seen plotting against her daughter-in-law Perdy, making her believe she is mentally unstable.
The storyline will come to a dramatic ending resulting in Rosemary’s exit.
Emmerdale producer Kathleen Beedles said: “The character of Rosemary has been integral to storylines over the past year but will be leaving the village next month as the storyline draws to a natural conclusion.”
Many of Rosemary's best scenes during her 17 months in the show have involved the notorious King brothers.
Jimmy, Matthew and Carl wanted rid of their new stepmother as soon as their father, Tom, was murdered on their wedding day.

Not surprised - I think Linda Thorson's been fine in the role, but there's only so much they can do with the character of Rosemary - she can't go on persecuting Perdy for ever - there has to be an ending to this storyline eventually, and if Cruella is found out, then it is fairly logical that she'll leave, one way or another.

Yes and this Perdy persecution is tedious.
No idea, Sooty. Soon find out.

Hmm. Not necessarily. People have done far worse (Carl King?) & still stayed around. Of course, the fact that she's leaving no makes a mockery of her "threats" to get even with the King brothers & Carrie. Of course, she could always return at some point in the future to exact her revenge.

It does. That's what happens when they go an announce it. We now know Perdy will survive it all.

Well, she had to, didn't she? Especially if the rumours about Paul & Grayson turn out to be true.
Perhaps it was Linda's decision to quit which is fair enough if that's the case. However, if it was a producer / writing team's decision because they feel that the character has nowhere else to go then I think that's completely ridiculous.

If she had nowhere else to go (as is their usual excuse) then it would be their fault for not thinking of anything.
