Oh no...how tragic. How terribly terribly sad. Such a brave woman and she fought her cancer with everything she had - and with such dignity. My sincere condolences to John and Wendys family and friends. RIP

I just saw that on Teletext, Sharon. Now she fought with dignity and puts a certain media hogger to shame.

I agree she kept quiet and fought with dignity and was not in your face all the time as Jade is. I feel sorry for Jade of course, but she is all over the TV at the moment, where as like you say, Wendy has fought with dignity and not thrust herself into the limelight. I mean Wendy still had Cancer, Breast Cancer so it is still the same thing only different part of the body? Does that make sense?

Yes but she had it 3 times and none of those was she everywhere day in, day out for months on end. Cancer's cancer but while most get on with fighting, Jade is pissing more and more people off with each passing day and rapidly losing sympathy. She claimed Wendy was nice to her but I haven't seen any tribute from her about Wendy.

Patsy Damn good point there Patsy, but then I noticed a small thing from Jade, but then THAT was because Wendy rang her to wish her well on her wedding day, so I guess it is NOT the same. My brother in law is well P**d off - as he says, 'Oh and there is not one else in this world that is suffering like her ( we know of someone whose father has cancer and has only days to live) and as for her hubby, he has BROKE the law so why should he get special treatment?? SOmeone in the paper....think it was Jane Moore commented that, why now for Jade and Jack?? They separated as he was a nasty peice of work and she realised he was immature kid, so why has she 'suddenly married' him? WHats in it for him? ?? The main thing here is basically, Wendy was dignified and fought quietly, and as my brother in law said 'This Goody woman should already be rich from what she has already earnt - so why still do this publicity grabbing stunt?'

Do you really believe what's come from Max Clifford today? I don't. She could have said this yesterday instead of using the death of a selfless woman to get back on the front pages today. No one close to Wendy will be in the mood to confirm or deny. Clifford knows that because he's been in the manipulating game a long time so can get away with saying any old crap. She made out they were such great friends last year, yet Wendy barely mentioned Jade in any interviews. I very much doubt Wendy would have been part of that media circus called a wedding regardless of how well or ill she was.

Patsy Too be honest I just saw Jades pic - yet again - and what Wendy had apparently done - now I could believe that of Wendy, because she been very dignified in all of this, I mean Rebekah Gibbs who was in Casualty, SHE has a colomn in the Daily Mirror on a Thurs and has been talking of her illness (Breast Cancer) and she did a special feature when Jade came out with a bald head, and Rebekah was giving her her full support -But NOTHING from Jad back and considering she has the full media attention you would think in all these articles she is giving, she would spare a thanks to Rebekah Well this is it, Clifford can do it, he can stay in the limelight, as it is making him look 'good too' I think it is another way to keep Jade in the papers again AND in the forefront which is sick in itself as this was to do with Wendy not Jade I am going to complain I think - may not do any good, and may not be listened too, but I will feel better. I have actually got the email address of the editor......She did tell me to email her 'anytime' she may regret that! ;D LOL

LOL! The trouble is Clifford has the dirt on certain people which is why his clients get all this coverage. Everything Wendy's supposed to have done regarding Jade came from his mouth, not Jade's. He has done everything possible to make her look good since the CBB incident. Now he's hijacked a decent woman's death. Over the past couple of days with Ivan Cameron's death followed by Wendy there have been more anti-Jade comments on the Internet and other places. Now he's trying to manipulate again only more and more people are fed up. Look at Jane Tomlinson. She was given 6 months to live but carried on several years. The same could happen with Jade and we'd get wall to wall coverage. But again, Jane Tomlinson was a selfless woman like Wendy. She put herself through hell to raise money for charity while having two young boys. Jade's earned millions and wasn't exactly destitute before all this yet everything's about her.

Patsy Yeah I think you are right, its all to do with Max Clifford and him. The only thing I agreed with Jade on, was when she said 'there are loads of people out there in the same boat' and there is. I think they are manipulating the public and like you say using Wendy Richards death. We have just found out that a friend of ours has died of cancer but nothing will be heard about that. It says she is doing all this for her sons - what about all the royalties she recieves from perfumes etc? Like you said there has been little Ivan Camerons death and then Wendys so Jade didnt get a look in, but then they had to do something about that. Its just money grabbing thats all. God only knows what will happen when she does die - state funeral? ?

Makes me wonder what he's got on whoever in the government allowed that thug Tweed out early. No compassion or even thought for the victim who is still scarred and traumatised. Now they tried to get the tag off? They're taking the piss now. As many people have said, why's he living at his mother's? Why not with Jade? Now there's this hospice thing. She already gets FREE nurses when she can pay, NHS treatment when she can pay and now a sodding hospice 10 mins down the road rather than hospital???!! Not only that but going in via the back door with the camera there. Nothing is done privately when this should be a private time. As for Wendy contacting her, if this was true we'd have heard about it while she was alive. Clifford would have spouted on the wedding day how Wendy had phoned his client to wish her well. He will sink to any low and I wouldn't be surprised if he tries for a state funeral. The excuses of getting money for her sons while she's only 27 and all those people getting smears doesn't wash. Many young mothers die, not only of cancer but other illnesses. Jade had more money before all this than normal people can dream of. And there was an increase of smear tests after Alma Baldwin then it dropped. It's a short term effect. She's not doing this for her boys but for herself like everything. You do not say you haven't told your sons then splash it across the front pages so they can see it at a friend's house or when buying sweets. She has given no consideration to those boys and spends more time with the media than with them. They'll discover in a few years just how much their vain mother couldn't live without publicity at the expense of spending her remaining time with them.
I'm sorry about your friend. There's a lot who have and will and are selfless which makes me more angry about what Clifford and his client are doing.

I hope he doesn't regret inviting mourners to watch from the street - it could get out of hand if thousands turn up.

This is nice from Laila Morse in the Sun from last week: Wendy saved me By JANE SYMONS Published: 05 Mar 2009 EASTENDERS actress Laila Morse believes she wouldn’t be alive today without co-star Wendy Richard who last week died of cancer. Leila, 63, who plays dodgy wheeler dealer Mo Harris in the BBC soap, discovered a breast lump in March 2000 but was too frightened to have it checked out. She admits: “More than likely I wouldn’t have done anything about it. “I’m one of those people who hates going to the doctor and the dentist. I don’t like having injections or anything like that. I’m just a wimp.” But Wendy, who had already overcome breast cancer several years earlier, insisted that Laila see a doctor. Laila says: “She was going on holiday and told me, ‘When I get back I want you to have it sorted’. “As soon as she got back, Wendy rang and asked if I’d been to the doctors. I told her I had and she asked me what they’d said. I told her it was just a mammary gland and nothing to worry about. It was a lie. I hadn’t been. “And I knew from the tone of her voice that Wendy didn’t believe me.” A few weeks later Laila was having a blood pressure check and couldn’t get Wendy’s words out of her head. “As I was on my way out I said, ‘By the way, I’ve got this lump’.” Two weeks later Laila was diagnosed with cancer. She says: “The funny thing is, once I knew I had cancer, I just got on with it. I soldiered on. In a way, worrying about it was more frightening than being told I had it.” Laila had a lumpectomy and her lymph nodes removed. She had follow up radiotherapy and took Tamoxifen for five years after the operation. Last month she was told she was 100 per cent clear of cancer. But she says: “If it hadn’t been for Wendy, more than likely I wouldn’t have done anything. It’s thanks to her I’m here. I would have just brushed it off but she wouldn’t let me.” It made Wendy’s death last week all the harder for Laila to bear. She says: “It knocked me badly. I thought she’d get over it. I still can’t believe we’ve lost her. I was so angry, I knew I had to do something.” That’s why Laila has signed up as an ambassador for Race For Life — which has raised £240million for Cancer Research UK. She is determined to finish the 5k run in memory of her friend. “I don’t care if it takes me all day and night. I want to do this for Wendy.” Race For Life 2009’s If I Can Do It campaign invites all women to take part in Race For Life, whatever their age, shape, size and fitness level. See www.ificandoit.org/

Seems like the funeral went off nicely. A sad occasion, but not without some smiles: recipe for chilli con carne?!! Wendy must have thought it was a bloody fantastic recipe for her to be concerned with it from beyond the grave! I hope as many people as possible go home and cook it in her memeory.
