Coronation Street star Samia Smith has been questioned by police after discovering a dead body.
The pregnant actress was visiting family in Sale, Greater Manchester with her husband Matthew yesterday when she found a man's corpse in the back of a van, The Sun reports.
It is believed that the vehicle caught the 27-year-old's attention when she heard a dog barking inside. She then made the gruesome discovery after staring through its back window.
Smith, known for her role as Maria Connor on the ITV1 soap, immediately phoned police, who closed the road and sealed off the van after arriving on the scene. Vets later arrived to deal with a Staffordshire bull terrier dog which was also found inside.
One neighbour commented: "[The van] has been parked here since Friday and the dog's barking was very loud and went on for quite a while. We have never seen the van before and don't know who owns it but it is very sad."
A Coronation Street spokesperson confirmed that Smith had reported the discovery of a body and was later questioned as part of routine procedure.
Meanwhile, police announced that they are following "several lines of inquiry" as they investigate the death of a 26-year-old man, believed to be from the Northern Moor area of nearby Wythenshawe.
