Well Part 1...
Not too bad...why did all of the departments on the Mars station have those long passages leading to them?..why couldn't they be next door to each other?
was it me or did I hear the Cloister Bell towards the end
and why was that Ood stood there at the end..??
Answers on a postcard please lol

Well, TBH, I'm not a Doctor Who anorak, and just watch the show for it's entertainment value, so my view is on that alone.
Was really looking forward to it:- 'darker, more scary (etc etc)', bu was left ultimately disappointed. Not bad, but not great. Apart from the (excellent) makeup, and a lot of water, there didn't seem to be much substance to the story.

Very true BC....a mystery virus in the water...easy to explain away....in the old days they would have an explanation as to where it came from, what it was and how to defeat it

I watched it at the convention and glad it wasn't with the rest of the remaining attendees in the bar. They're all 'everything's brilliant'. So me and Paul saw it in our room. My verdict was it started off okay and it was a good premise but went too fast so what could have been a corker was yet again wasted. RTD just has no idea how to pace something to make it a slow burner. And we know it was co-written but he has the same fault on solo efforts. The last half hour was all padding and the last 10 minutes VERY predictable. It was also incredibly hammy. Too many unanswered questions AGAIN.
Nick, the ending reminded me of Logopolis. The Ood (Watcher), Doctor realising the end is nigh and the good old Cloister Bell.
Hoping there's some decent writing and explanations when Steven Moffatt takes over.

No idea. But when it was just a distant shape it was very much like the Watcher. Has RTD an original DW idea in his body?

It was noted to Katy Manning on Sunday how Rose was just a remake of Spearhead From Space and Katy said Rose was like Jo. Meanwhile Sophie Alread said she was like Ace. LOL!

BORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best part was the last minute when it was revealed the Time Lords were back! People slated Anthony Ainley's 'hammy panto villain' but John Simm REALLY out-hams him. At least Ant could act, even though he was crap, bless the daft old sod. Hoping the next part (and again the cliffhanger went on too bloody long) will be better but since it's RTD I doubt it. Also hoping the Time Lords stay since that arse shouldn't have blown up Gallifrey to start with. No planet - no working Tardis.

LOL! I think you'd faint if I did. A friend of mine loved it yesterday but this morning didn't think it was very good. And I had nothing to do with his change of mind. Honest!

*shrugs*
It's the most ridiculous end to a tenure there's ever been. Christopher Eccleston's was better, despite the over-inflated Daleks (I love them but they've been ruined by RTD) and excuse to snog Rose. Even Planet of the Spiders was better! Ohm...................... Or even the appalling Time and the Rani!

I don't think you needed to. I didn't watch the Catherine Tate ones and this brings everything together. It's all cack and hoping for better under Steven Moffatt.

No way was that first hour all RTD. It was good and made sense! Pity about the obvious Star Wars and other rip offs (those are clear RTD ideas). The last 20 mins was self-indulgent RTD claptrap and the bloody death didn't half drag on thanks to those pointless scenes. The regeneration was identical to the last and camera angles got on my wick. But does this mean a new Tardis interior? I do hope so! I hated that bogey thing. But Rassilon? So that means the Time War took place BEFORE his immortality. In which case Borusa wouldn't have been condemed and Leela wouldn't have gone off with that wet nelly. Time Lords would never have sent the Doctor to Skaro to deal with the Daleks OR dumped Romana on him. And 906 years old? Wasn't the Doctor 947 or something in Time and the Rani??? He said she was the same age. Looking forward to the Steven Moffatt era and hope it's a good one. Patsy

I couldn't work out why the Doc kept saying he was dying and acting as if it was the end of his life when he is only regenerating...technically he would be the same person inside and only different on the outside

Thinking more about it, it had a few similarities to Caves of Androzani (space ship). But since it was Bob Holmes who turned the Time Lords evil AFTER Rassilon's time, it means the second Doctor never regenerated into Jon Pertwee and there'd have been no Omega and all that lot. Rassilon's spirit was immortal in The Five Doctors but DEAD in body. This clearly took place before he snuffed it. Therefore RTD's effed it up again. Is he sure he's a fan?
Oh the melodrama of it all. Would've been better if he'd regenerated after falling through the roof a la Tom Baker's radio telescope. That would've been interesting. John Simm was STILL shite and like all RTD gimmicks, wear thin VERY fast due to overuse.

Couple more points.
Lovely touch the author of the book being Verity Newman.
If he met Rose before meeting her, then why didn't she say, "Oi, you're that bloke who saw me last year" when he regenerated?

I thought that about Rose too Pats
and another point...if the Time Lords are literally Lords of Time why did they need a batty old soothsayer spouting on about prophecies and predictions
