She must have been more ill than Granada was letting on.

I`m gutted - I really am. I hope and prayed she would pull through. Blanche was mentioned in last nights Corrie, and I hoped then she would be coming back soon

Blanche was always such a great character and her battles with Annie Walker when Deirdre was engaged to Billy were classic. She got better with age and I think that's down to Maggie's acting. We've seen catty lines being given to other characters but not delivered as well.

Agreed - very, very sad news, and with Blanche gone, yet another reason for not watching Corrie.

It said in todays Mirror Maggie is quoted as saying that Blanche believed what she was saying so Maggie played them straight..if she had played them for comedy they wouldn't have worked

I am absolutely gutted by this news. Blanche was my favourite character of all times. There has never been another that could carry off the wicked comments and one-liners the way Maggie did. RIP Maggie, you will be sadly missed

She just delivered the lines deadpan which is why they worked. How many others on any programme have we seen try and inject something into them?

Not much of a tribute to her last night - just a brief mention at the end of Corrie. I thought to myself..."that`s it"? I really hope that Corrie will have a tribute show just for her amazing one liners for the 49th Corrie anniversary next Wednesday. Maggie/Blanche deserves it.
I wonder how Blanche will be written out? Any guesses?

I guess they'll probably wait till after Christmas and say she died in her sleep...they can't really make a big storyline of it because it wouldn't be right...mind you the way they try to grab ratings nowadays they are capable of anything !!

I remember when Pat Phoenix died. They immediately had a half hour tribute after Corrie. TV companies tend not to bother any more unless it's someone like Ronnie Barker.

It seems some regions didnt even get that brief tribute - in Wales we certainly didnt!

I can't think of another situation where the actor has died but has still appeared in episodes after their death...can anyone else?...Bernard Youens',Jack Howarth's & Arthur Leslie's last appearances were well before they died.

Knowing it was one of Maggie's last episodes....her fraility was more noticable.

I can't think of another situation where the actor has died but has still appeared in episodes after their death...can anyone else?...Bernard Youens',Jack Howarth's & Arthur Leslie's last appearances were well before they died. The guy who played Jerry Booth (Graham something) still had some scenes left and his family gave permission for his scenes to be shown as a tribute to him after he passed away so suddenly. Jerry Booth was always one of my fave characters over the years, that`s why I remember reading about it.

Then they killed Jerry off. Graham Haberfield was a brain haemorrhage or something, wasn't it?

Yes one more scene on Friday I think.
Apart from Graham I cant think of any other instances where the actor has passed away and still has scenes to be shown.

I`ve often wondered....had Graham/Jerry not died, do you think Mavis and Jerry would have gotten married?
