From DSCoronation Street star Sue Cleaver has signed a new 18-month contract with the soap, according to a report. The actress recently met with the show's new producer Phil Collinson and was told that "dramatic twists" are being planned for her character Eileen Grimshaw, The Mirror claims. It is thought that the news came as a relief to Cleaver as she had apparently feared that she could be axed following her drink driving conviction. A source said: "Sue loves playing Eileen. She is so excited at the great story being lined up for her." Yesterday, it was reported that Helen Flanagan had renewed her Corrie deal and will continue playing Rosie Webster for at least another 12 months. However, there are also cast departures ahead as Steven Arnold (Ashley Peacock), Julia Haworth (Claire Peacock) and Rachel Leskovac (Natasha Blakeman) are all being written out later this year. As Eileen is my favourite female character ( now Blanche is no more) I am really pleased at this....I just wish she got more airtime.
