I don't remember the launch of Channel 5 because I wasn't 'tuned in' at the time. When they came round and did it - I watched Channel 5 with anticipation and it was, and still is, complete rubbish.

The picture quality has certainly improved.....they do have some good documentaries on...only trouble is there are ad breaks every five minutes

CG if memory serves, Channel 4 started at 4.30pm with the voice of Paul Coia welcoming people then Countdown started.
I remember the opening night of five. The ruddy Spice Girls! I hardly watch it. There was a good drama about the kidnapping of Stephanie Slater by Michael Sams though starring Sylvester McCoy I saw.

No idea. Last I saw of Paul Coia (is he still married to Debbie Greenwood?) was some quiz years ago on Sky One we used to play along with using that card that came with the Sky mag but never won anything.
Oh it was then BBC copied their various forms for BBC2.
Countdown was so different back then to now. Very starchy and serious.

My son used to have such a crush on Carol Vorderman when How2 was shown on the WAM channel over here a few years ago ;D
