Why is it in EE, whether someone's being arrested or married, the legal bods (police, vicars etc) use the shorter version of names? Tonight was a prime example. "Chrissie Watts I'm arresting you for the murder of Den Watts." It would have been Christine and Dennis. Like when Peggy married Frank (which I saw) it wasn't Margaret and Francis. Even on things like the sign above the Vic it's the shorter version of names. Why are they the only soap to do this?

What is 'Minty' supposed to be short for? 'Mintgimery' in a Spike Milligan Goon Show voice?

lol no, it`s quite cute how he got his nickname actually. I can`t remember his real name...Gavin or something like that. But Phil Mitchell nicknamed him Minty because years ago he never used to get up til after 8 in the mornings. After 8 Mints geddit ;D

lol I can remember that episode where Phil told someone how Minty got his name. It always made me smile when Sam called him Mints. Before I knew the story of how he got his name, I thought she called him mince ;D

Oh well that makes a lot of sense. Though if you have too many After Eight's you end up being sick. Wonder if Minty gives you the same reaction? Patsy
