Wow! What a sad episode. I'm so upset! It was a pretty good episode, but I think the end could have been done slightly, slightly better. She died so quickly. Alfie went to fix the penguin and then she was dead. Really touching episode though, and a good send off for a much loved character.

I admit I cried a little bit with Alfie, I wasn't expecting her just to pop off like that on the couch - they usually love to write hospital death-bed scenes in soaps.
No doubt Nana's final wish in the letter is for Kat and Alfie to get back together.
Alfie's fight with Jake was crap - why did they put that bit in?

I hate it when in programmes or films they cut away to a person talking because you know the other is either fast asleep or dead. But it was good, especially the end. I was hoping though she would just collapse or something wheile Jake was there.
Agreed about that fight. Never mind Alfie fighting like a girl - they both did!

There wasn't too much of a build up all week, so it did seem a bit strange having it all in the one episode didn't it? I would have rathered if Nana had fell asleep, with Jake and Alfie on either side. I wish that Spencer and Danny were coming back for her funeral - especially since Spencer loved his grandmother so much. I think the actor who played Spencer was away when it was being filmed, but I'm sure they could have had a phone call between himself an Alfie with us getting to see Spencer. Been way more realistic than what is supposed to happen.

Like Charlene and Henry in Neighbours when Madge was dying then died and they never appeared. It's a shame Alfie or someone never told Jake. I was expecting Kat to yell it out after Jake pushed her away. I would have liked her to have gone while they were playing charades. Laughing so much then conking out.

I thought it was incredibly sad. A nice touch of the batteries going out on that penguin thing the same time as Nana passing away. An absolutely brilliant touch would have had the scene of Nana going to William in a scene with Nana and William young again (done in black and white). A bit of cloud, some fog and William saying he`s glad to be with his Victoria again and what kept her. And then Nana saying she had to say goodbye to her Alfie" Cue William and Nana hand in hand walking off while there`s a scene of Alfie sobbing. Doof doof doof etc

Awwww. That would have been really sweet but EE don't really go in for slush, do they? I was surprised though she'd slumped over. I was expecting her to still be sitting up.

Her funeral's a bit quick, isn't it? When my aunt died at the end of August, it was 10 days. And winter months can take longer.

I agree that either CorrieGirl's suggestion or a maybe shot of Nana and William's photo would have been a nice touch. I was at a funeral over the weekend. The aunt of mine died on Saturday night and was buried on Monday (yesterday).

Maybe it depends where people live. My aunt was in Liverpool. I'm very sorry about your aunt, Eithne.

Thanks Patsy! She had a long, long life though - living until 91. She was very, very proud of her age. One of her brothers is 92 and he is still alive.

None of my relatives have loved that long. Oldest was 81 I think for my mum's mum's dad in 1974.

It's close to Christmas and a shame you lost someone when we're all supposed to be at a happy time.

That funeral was quite sad tonight. I did feel for Jake though with everyone saying how sorry they were to Alfie and leaving him out.

Thanks for your kind words pearly! I'm watching the repeat on BBC3 now. I agree Patsy about the whole Jake getting no attention, Alfie getting it all thing. Jake is her grandson as well, (even if he wasn't when he first arrived!!! work that out. I'm guessing that Jake and Dawn will be a new couple. I'm liking the build up to Sonia and Martin's split as well! Poor Martin. The build up to the murder is also quite interesting.

I'm not surprised Sonia's left Martin. He's so wet.
Hmm, maybe Alfie's dad had Jake and Danny by another woman. But then that would make Alfie and Spencer half-brothers not cousins. EE family ties is getting more complicated than the Dingles!

It was a change on the EE writers part. When Jake and his brother Danny first arrived they were reffered to as being second cousins, but then it changed gradually so it seemed more like they were Alfie's first cousins. I'm almost sure that Nana was referred to as being their grandmother as well!! Confusing or what!

On the BBC Eastenders website there is a family tree finder. Nana Moon is quite clearly not Danny and Jake's grandmother, but a great-aunt. William Moon had brothers who married and had kids, who's sons had kids and they are all cousins to each other. Everyone appears to call her 'Nana', whether they are related or not.'

Maybe she was the only nan alive when they grew up. I'd love Corrie to have a family tree finder. They'd get muddled up themselves the way they keep changing history. LOL!

That sort of explains it. It would be nice if soaps actually bothered to explain these things though - wouldn't it? I'm interested to see Dawn get her first interesting storyline now - with Jake. It is a pity Mickey isn't around because of the actor's illness as he would be good to have around at this time.

It would. But do they have the faintest idea themselves what's going on? Maybe it's one of the drawbacks of so many eps. They have to fill them all so forget to tell the poor viewer what's going on.
