Phil and Grant's return has been a bit of a mess so far.
Hated Phil's arty farty 'Lady Macbeth' dream sequence, and Grant giving advice on therapy and psychology just wasn't believable. A few hours on a couch can no doubt help - but it won't turn Grant Mitchell into Terry Waite.
How did they handle Grant's return anyway? Isn't he still wanted for the violent robbery that put Phil in hospital, causing Grant to flee the country with a briefcase full of cash and little Courtney under his arm?
Billy Mitchell has reverted to type. He's become a more sensible, caring father-to-be recently, and as soon as Phil and Grant turn up he goes back to a snivelling lap-dog, sitting up and begging for attention, pleading with them to be taken along like a big boy, instead of concentrating on more pressing priorities like providing for his pregnant girlfriend.
Couldn't hear all of the dialogue in the car because of bad sound quality - the noise of the road, the music etc. no doubt it was corny as the rest of the script.
The line in the service station cafe about Right Said Fred was pretty good, but inevitably the bloke took a good pasting.
Johnny Allen's house - wow!! Not a bad little gaff - who'd live in Walford, when you can afford a palace like that?

I agree totally with what you said pearly!!! Billy's change back to the way he was has taken away all the developement they've given him. Johnny's house must be worth a million or two!!! Why they hell did he ever come to Walford?
Does this storyline really need a week to get justice for Dennis? I sure don't think so. Everybody in the Square has long forgotten Dennis, so for him to be centre of attention 3 months later is just idiotic!

It must be to do with Phil and Grant's obsession with Sharon - how they both loved her, but both used her cruelly and Phil ultimately messed up her life, as he was the one who wound up Dennis, who bashed Johhny, who ordered the hit on Dennis who lived in the house that Jack built......
I'm wondering if Phil will ever tell Grant the reason she thought herself infertile was because she contracted an infection after terminating Grant's baby?

Probably is. My dad's taping it for me and I do hope to see it all before the omni and said it was boring (that was Monday) so I had to explain what had happened, though he already knew Johnny ordered Dennis's death.
Good question there, Pearly. Maybe it will come out by accident.

Caught up with this now. Bad example having Phil (or Philth) threatening Johnny with a broken bottle. Some of the dialogue between Johnny and Phil has been good, like when Johnny taunted him over his own guilt. But the rest is just so awful. And since when did Peggy suddenly change her tune over Ben?

I also wonder if the fourth Mitchell grandchild will ever be revealed - Mark Fowler Jnr? ANd I wonder if there will be any mention of Lisa/Louise? After all Lisa did conspire with Den to get Phil sent down in the first place!

Patsy Johhny Week or whatvever they were calling it has been complete rubbish - especially the last episode on Friday. Jake Maskell is the worse actor on Earth, hardman Johnny 'I slam womens' fingers in doors' Allen was wearing a girly pink jumper and we were treated to several sights of Phil's podgy little run. All the running and car chase scenes were just irritating - no real tension. Danny drugged and undressed Ruby (disturbing) and when the police came they only nicked Johnny on his doorstep without searching the rest of the house or questioning Ruby, or Jake who had just shot his own brother round the back of the house. How come Jake gets a way with it? A complete mess. However I laughed out loud when the Mitchells escaped being shot and then called the cops and Johnny snapped 'They are so out of order!' I thought he was going to continue with 'They're not my friends anymore, and I'm not playing, so... ner...' and sit arms crossed with his bottom lip sticking out. .

I saw the last 2 eps today. Talk about padding! The car chase. Yawn. It could have all been done in 2 eps. I did like the last one best. I felt really sorry for Jake and there was some good acting there after he shot Danny.

LOL! When Grant was driving to Essex I kept waiting for him to crash the way he was jiggling his head about and not looking at the road. Oh it was so bad.

I agree totally with what you said Pearly. I got the feeling that there could have been a lot more going on between Johnny and Jake the way they were talking about each other, and with Johnny in his OTT and out of character pink jumper.

I got the feeling that there could have been a lot more going on between Johnny and Jake the way they were talking about each other, and with Johnny in his OTT and out of character pink jumper. How can Johnny confess to all that stuff without implicating everybody else? It's impossible. The police won't believe he acted alone and will want to know about accomplices, witnesses etc. If his flash pad was bought with the proceeds of crime it will be taken off him and Ruby will be homeless. Spose that's why Jake dropped her off at the Slaters. Jake's time must soon be up - he witnessed Johnny killing Andy Hunter, and then killed Jake - how come the cops haven't come to see him ? If only to inform him that his brother has been found dead in woodland. It's all a big mess.

Well Jake buried Danny, so that takes care of that. And maybe Johnny might have refused to give the cops the names of his accomplices - to save him having to deal with them if they ended up inside with him. All pretty badly written though!!!

I'm only putting up with the other mitchells because i want Courtney to stay and she cant if they go, unless they die and she doesn't but then she'd still go because she'd be in care. Also Ben, although living with Ian, is a mitchell and hes ok.

Wonder what Ben would be like under Phil's influence though? I'm surprised he hasn't said wearing glasses makes him look like a geek.

yeah, its a good thing hes not under Phils influence, the character would just be another chip off the block mitchell, it's nice to see a mitchell that doesnt rely on threatening people to get what they want.

Yes, it's true Ben has had nicer, gentler influences in his life. Then again they are writing for a small boy whose lost both his parents in a violent way and he's been moved across continents - no wonder he's nervous and frightened of what the hell is going to go wrong next.
Courtney on the other hand seems just like Tiffany - spoilt and manipulative.

Courtney is so annoying! She really is. She isn't a great actress either. Definitlely from the Hannah Migdely School of Acting. (She's Victoria Sugden in Emmerdale in case you are wondering!)

They shouldn't let kids have any lines or major stories until they are absolutley sure they can act, otherwise it spoils the whole scene. David Platt and Chesney in Corrie have always been good, and so was Sonia Jackson/Fowler at a young age, but as a rule they always seem to cast kids with no talent for acting.

And the thing is that there are children who can act out there - as proven by Sam Aston and Jack P. Shephard.

Not just casting kids with no talent. Looks over talent for grown-ups. Jack P Shepherd seems to have got lazy though. He was marvellous when he was younger. Now he just pulls faces. It does make you wonder where they get these kids from and why?
