How did they cast this drippy kid? He's supposed to be an East End boy, spawned by a Mitchell, brought up in a tough place like Cape Town (complete with snakes) by a mother as rough as Kathy - he's an absolute wimp.
Given he's bereaved, and being told Phil Mitchell is his dad - but even so the kid has no spark about him.
Obviously Ben has inherited the nerdiness from Kathy because she also inflicted the same traits on Ian (remember her knitted jumper stall anyone?)
The child cannot act and on top of that, due to the semi-profile camera angles he always seems to look vaguely like a bottle-nosed dolphin.

I remember Grant seeing his nephew for the first time and saying something about how "Ben don't look like one of us" I was sitting thinking bit of an understatement.
I don't think the actor is great but he is only 9 or 10. He's not the worst actor ever, and I do think he's better than his annoying cousin anyway!!!
By the way, anyone though of Louise recently? I wonder when/if she'll be mentioned. I expected her to be mentioned last night when Phil was going on about how Jake had saved the Mitchell children from becoming fatherless.

Louise is Phil's daughter by Lisa, who was briefly brought up as Louise Fowler by herself and Mark, but when it was discovered she was a Mitchell- Peggy took over. Eventually Lisa got her back with Den's help and managed to flee the country while Phil was banged up.

It was Den along with Lisa who got Phil sent to prison, so you would think that with Den gone before he had a chance to get revenge that Phil would at least want revenge on Den's co-conspirtator, and would want to get his other child back.

Thanks, Pearly. Maybe he's forgotten she exists with more sprogs than Ian Beale, Mike Baldwin and Ken Barlow combined! Patsy

Lucy Benjamin is unlikely to come back, so if they were going to do a Lisa/Louise thing they'd need to re-cast a new Lisa. And get a Louise who can act.

I suppose it would be unlikely that Lucy Benjamin would come back - now herself and Steve McFadden are broken up. I doubt they would recast her. They'll probably recast Louise and bring her back in a few years, after not mentioning her for a long, long time.

What's On Tv states that Lucy Benjamin is in talks wih the BBC to discuss returning as Lisa Fowler!! Now she has married some rich oil baron bloke she might be able to forget her relationship with Steve Mcfadden, and just get on with playing Lisa with no hard feelings.

I heard that as well. Maybe they read on here! I wonder which of our members is a BBC scriptwriter? Gee whizz, would'nt that be fantastic!! I'd love a job as an Eastenders scriptwriter - especially if I got to write the last scene: the tortured grimace and the drum roll. Apparently that's the bit all the actors skip straight to first before reading the other gripping stuff about ordering bacon rolls in the cafe and shagging their brother's/friend's/son's missus.

Sonia did a good job of it tonight then when Martin asked her for a divorce!

What was she expecting him to say, the dozy cow?
I have no sympathy for Sonia at all. Pauline always wanted to keep Chloe (now Rebecca) all along, but it was Sonia who insisted on giving her up so she could have a better life; then she attempted to snatch the kid back from the adoptive parents; then she stalks the grieving adoptive grandmother and forces herself on her; then she leaves Martin for another woman - and surprise, surprise now nobody likes her.
She is acting like a spoilt brat, and is in no fit state emotionally to look after a little kid.
Go Martin! This is the first time I've ever actually liked the character of Martin Fowler - he's really taking his responsibilities seriously for once (at last).
