Yesterday morning I was at Bromley South station heading for Ashford International when a young ginger lad walked past me, exiting the station towards the High Street. I did a double-take as I realised it was the rather wonderful Charlie Clements taking time off from following Stacey around like a love-sick fool. He's quite short, only a couple of inches taller than me, but every bit as ginger and rosy-cheeked as he is on the telly. Maybe he lives round there, or maybe he'd just nipped up on the train to do some shopping in the Glades shopping centre. Incidentally I saw Laila Morse shopping in there a couple of years ago - another midget.

I never had you down as a celeb spotter pearly! I've never really met anyone properly famous - apart from the President of Ireland and a few Irish soap stars.

Oh I'm not a spotter, eithne - he just walked past me and I didn't approach him, he looked a bit wary to be honest. Maybe he's not got used to people gawping at him in the street yet.
Living in London I've noticed a few people around and about over the years - eg. Grace Jones, David Bowie, Danny Baker, the boy who played Ashley Cotton(Dot's grandson), the two blokes who played SGT Cryer and PC Stamp in the Bill, Robbie Coltrane, Bill Bailey and the actor John Thomson.
They were just going about their daily business, I didn't scream or swoon, or ask for an autograph because that doesn't really interest me. Had I appraoched any of them -in a nice, friendly, non-aggressive way of course, I would have expected a polite acknowledgement. I don't like celebs who don't think they owe anything to the public, who complain about being recognised - it goes with the territory as far as I'm concerned.
You can't earn a living acting on Tv or on films - the job description of which is effectively summed up as 'Look at me, look at me' - and then get angry when people look at you off screen, too.

Glad that Charlie Clements won the best soap newcomer award at the Soap Awards - although his acceptance speech was a bit crap. They all say 'I haven't prepared anything' which I don't believe. If they've been nominated they have as much chance of winning as the other nominees - and should have some sort of short, witty speech prepared.

I didn't bother with the Soap Awards this year. But I agree about the speech side of things. There is only so many 'I haven't prepared anything's you can take in one night!
