Part 1
On the planet Exxilon, a tall, white-haired elderly man in a grey velvet jacket and his young female companion, had just entered a blue police box.
DOCTOR----There you go, Sarah Jane. I told you we'd get the power back. SARAH------You did. DOCTOR----Just a pity that beautiful building had to be destroyed to do it though. SARAH------Well, I'd prefer that to being sacrificed or killed by those horrible Daleks. DOCTOR----I think most people would agree with you. Right then, shall we go? SARAH------Where to? DOCTOR----Florana, of course. SARAH------If we ever get there. DOCTOR----We will. You can hardly blame me for a forced landing, you know. SARAH------I know. DOCTOR----Right then. I'll just program the co-ordinates and I suggest after that, we both clean ourselves up. SARAH------Now you're talking. I could really do with a bath. DOCTOR----And a good cup of tea, eh? SARAH------You know me too well, Doctor.
The Doctor set the co-ordinates after smiling then led Sarah to the bathroom. After a few minutes an alarm sounded and they raced back to the console room. The Doctor checked the console, then hit the button which turned the alarm off.
SARAH------Temper. DOCTOR----Sorry. SARAH------What's going on? DOCTOR----The Tardis seems to have developed a fault and is making an emergency landing. SARAH------Oh, no, not again! DOCTOR----I couldn't have put it better myself. SARAH------It's not Exxilon again, is it? DOCTOR----No. SARAH------Florana? DOCTOR----I'm afraid not. SARAH------Then where are we, or shouldn't I ask? DOCTOR----A planet called Gauda Prime it would seem. SARAH------Is it nice, with very friendly people? DOCTOR----I really have no idea. I've never been here before. SARAH------Oh, marvellous (!)
Meanwhile, in the building, Kerr Avon was surrounded by Federation troops. He'd not only killed his only help because he wouldn't let him answer a question, but also seen his travelling companions cut down. He was the only one left and with no hope of saving his skin. He stood astride Blake and slowly began to raise his gun. Suddenly he heard a familiar noise and smiled. It was only faint, but enough to make the troops turn their attention from him, and fire in the direction the sound came from. Avon stood perfectly still, still smiling. The troopers fled as the Tardis materialised, and only then did he allow himself to turn around.
AVON-------Just in time, Doctor.
The door opened and the Doctor and Sarah stepped out, horrified at the massacre before them. Avon went over, gun lowered. AVON-------Thank you, Doctor. You seem to have saved my life yet again. DOCTOR----Pardon me, but have we met? AVON-------You are the Doctor? DOCTOR----Yes, but I'm sure I've not seen you before, young man. AVON-------We have met four times, two of which, your appearance had changed. DOCTOR----Then it must have been in my future. Tell me, er... AVON-------Avon. DOCTOR----Tell me, Avon, what happened here? AVON-------I would have thought that was obvious. DOCTOR----Quite. Are they all dead? AVON-------The woman by the desk, I killed myself. The man in the corner I didn't, but is. DOCTOR----And the one with the scar? AVON-------Ah, yes. Blake. I killed him too, but it seems I may have been a bit hasty. DOCTOR----And the others? AVON-------I presume so. Look, Doctor, we must get out of here very quickly. The Federation troopers are bound to get reinforcements, and will return any moment. DOCTOR----I have to check on the other first, my good fellow. AVON-------But, there may not be time! DOCTOR----I quite understand your feelings, Avon, but we can't just abandon anyone who may well still be alive, you know. AVON-------Can't we? SARAH------No, we can't! Where's your heart? AVON-------So, you do speak. As for my heart, as Vila or any of the others would tell you if they were alive, I haven't got one. SARAH------I think I've worked that out for myself. AVON-------A brain too? Well, well, well. DOCTOR----All right, Avon.
The Doctor went over to a tall, blonde girl and felt her pulse.
DOCTOR----Do you know her? AVON-------Soolin. Is she dead? DOCTOR----I'm afraid so. And him? AVON-------Tarrant. Dead too? DOCTOR----I'm sorry. AVON-------Don't be. We never became close. I won't shed any tears for him. SARAH------Didn't think you would. AVON-------Dayna? DOCTOR----I'm afraid so. AVON-------Pity. SARAH------You care? AVON-------She was very good with weapons. I quite liked her and Soolin. That's Vila. No use checking for any activity because he never had a brain. DOCTOR----This one's alive! AVON-------He would be (!) DOCTOR----Quick, help me get him into the Tardis! AVON-------I'm sorry, Doctor. DOCTOR----We must hurry, Avon. AVON-------I have to get something else more important into your Tardis. SARAH------You, I suppose. AVON-------You suppose wrong. Orac. SARAH------Orac? AVON-------A super computer. I've hidden it but unless I move it soon, the Federation will find it and that must never happen. SARAH------Why not? AVON-------Because they would be more dangerous with it and totally unstoppable. SARAH------How? DOCTOR----Avon, you go and get this, Orac of yours and explain once we're safe in the Tardis. AVON-------Thank you, Doctor (leaves). SARAH------What about him? DOCTOR----You're going to help me get him into the Tardis. SARAH------Me?! DOCTOR----I don't see anyone else here who can help me, Sarah Jane. SARAH------What about, Avon? DOCTOR----My dear Sarah, by the time he returns- SARAH------If he ever does. DOCTOR----Quite. This young man could be dead. Do you want his death on your hands? SARAH------All right, Doctor. You win, as usual. I'll take his feet. DOCTOR----Thank you, my dear. SARAH------He weighs a ton! DOCTOR----You should try it from this end. SARAH------No, thanks!
They carried Vila into the Tardis, and gently placed him on the floor.
DOCTOR----Careful! SARAH------Sorry. I wonder where that Avon is? AVON-------I'm here. DOCTOR----Good (closes doors). What's that? AVON-------Orac. SARAH------That pile of junk? It's just a plastic box full of flashing lights. AVON-------You sound just like Vila. It may not look like much, but it is the most sophisticated and brilliant computer you are ever likely to see. DOCTOR----Of humanoid technology, I agree. AVON-------What? DOCTOR----But, my people have far superior technology. AVON-------Like this Tardis of yours, I suppose. DOCTOR----You suppose correctly.
On the floor, Vila groaned.
DOCTOR----Now, I propose we get as far away from here as possible and give your friend the urgent medical attention he desperately requires. AVON-------He's no friend of mine, Doctor. SARAH------Surprise, surprise (!) DOCTOR----Sarah Jane.... SARAH------Sorry. AVON-------But, I agree about leaving. DOCTOR----Excellent. At last we finally agree on something. I'll set the co-ordinates for a temporal orbit, until we decide what we're going to do with you both.
The Tardis dematerialised, just as Servalan appeared. She cursed when she saw it vanish then inspected the bodies. SERVALAN---Where is Avon? TROOPER---He was here, Commissioner Sleer. SERVALAN---Well, he's not here now, you fool! Del Tarrant. Dayna Mellanby. Soolin. Deva. Blake. Vila? Where is Vila, you incompetant fool? TROOPER---There's a body missing! SERVALAN---Obviously! TROOPER---I-I don't know, Commissioner. SERVALAN---Take me to Supreme Command headquarters, at once! TROOPER---Yes, Commissioner.
Meanwhile in the Tardis, the Doctor and Avon had taken Vila to and enormous room Sarah would class as a hospital ward. Avon stood back, fiercely protecting Orac as though it were his favourite toy, while the Doctor treated Vila.
AVON-------He will live, then? DOCTOR----There's no reason why he shouldn't. AVON-------Shame. DOCTOR----It was only a shoulder wound, you know. AVON-------Trust him to have his body in the wrong place at the right time. DOCTOR----His head took a nasty knock when he fell, which is why he was unconcious. I don't think there's any chance of brain damage, though. AVON-------No brain to damage. SARAH------Don't you like anyone, apart from yourself? AVON-------Occasionally. SARAH------You could've fooled me. DOCTOR----That's enough bickering, you two. I think we should leave Vila here to get some rest. Sarah, I want you to let me know when he comes round. SARAH------You want me to play Florence Nightingale? DOCTOR----I think dear Florence would be insulted if anyone made out she was playing. SARAH------You know what I mean. Look after him. Mop his brow, that sort of thing. DOCTOR----Precisely. AVON-------He'll like nothing better than to wake up and see a pretty face. SARAH------Good job the Doctor didn't ask you to do it, then. AVON-------What do you meant by that? SARAH------The poor man'll probably have a relapse. AVON-------You could be right. SARAH------How long do you think he'll be like this, Doctor? DOCTOR----It's hard to say. Could be hours or years. SARAH------Years?! DOCTOR----It's a possibility, but I should think it's highly unlikely.
Suddenly, a beeping sounded and echoed around the room. The Doctor removed what looked like a small calculator from his jacket pocket and pressed a button.
SARAH------More trouble? DOCTOR----Could be. The Brigadier requests my presence. SARAH------"Requests"? DOCTOR----Orders, then, but very politely. SARAH------Are we going? DOCTOR----It could be important, Sarah. SARAH------But, what about these two? DOCTOR----We'll just have to take them with us. SARAH------If you say so. DOCTOR----My dear Sarah Jane, it seems we don't really have a lot of choice in the matter. Unless you want to return them to where we found them with the possibility they may be killed. SARAH------I suppose not. I wonder what the Brigadier will make of them? DOCTOR----Well, not soldiers, for a start. They're far too intelligent for that lark. AVON-------I am at least. SARAH------How do you get through doors? AVON-------I don't know what you mean. SARAH------With a head that size. DOCTOR----Sarah, please. SARAH------I'm trying my best, Doctor, but he's so aggravating. AVON-------The feeling is entirely mutual. DOCTOR----Oh dear. No chance of marrying you off, then. SARAH------Certainly not! You weren't being serious? Oh, Doctor. DOCTOR----So, Avon, how do you fancy a trip to the twentieth century? AVON-------Twentieth century? Oh, that would be the old calendar. DOCTOR----Yes, I suppose it would. AVON-------And, where would we go in the twentieth century? DOCTOR----Earth, of course. AVON-------I expect it will be quite different from the earth I know. DOCTOR----More than likely. AVON-------And, it will be a long way from Servalan and her trained monkeys so it is likely to be safer than staying around here. DOCTOR----Is that a yes, then? AVON-------Yes, Doctor. DOCTOR----Right, then. Keep an eye on Vila, Sarah. Come on, Avon. You can tell me all about this Orac of yours.

Part 2
At Supreme Command headquarters, Servalan was paying a visit to an old friend of hers down in the cells.
SERVALAN---Well, what do you think, Rani? RANI---------It sounds like that meddlesome Doctor, which goes to prove, my dear Servalan, I didn't double-cross you all those years ago over John Benton. SERVALAN---I see that now and I apologise. RANI---------Does that mean I'm free to go? SERVALAN---Yes, but not yet. RANI---------Oh? SERVALAN---There's something I'd like you to do for me first. RANI---------And, what might that be? SERVALAN---Find this Doctor and take me to him. RANI---------Why? SERVALAN---Because he has something I desperately want. RANI---------Then I can go? SERVALAN---Once I have retrieved it, of course you may. RANI---------Thank you. SERVALAN---After you have helped me regain the Presidency. RANI---------Nothing could be simpler there, although.... SERVALAN---Although? RANI---------It might not be so easy finding the Doctor. SERVALAN---Oh, I'm sure you'll manage it. RANI---------And, if I don't? SERVALAN---Now Rani, you know I never answer stupid questions. RANI---------Shall we go, Servalan? SERVALAN---I thought you'd never suggest it.
-----------------------------
DOCTOR----We've arrived. Welcome to the twentieth century, Avon. AVON-------Thank you. Does it have a year? DOCTOR----Erm, 1973, if I'm not mistaken. AVON-------That is a long way back in time. DOCTOR----Not when you're used to it. Mind you, as I was born centuries after you, I suppose it is really. Would you be so kind enough as to help Miss Smith bring our friend out? AVON-------Miss Smith? DOCTOR----Sarah Jane. AVON-------Oh. And who is, "our friend"? Oh, don't tell me. You mean, Vila. DOCTOR----You didn't need me to tell you after all. AVON-------Very well. But I think I'll keep Orac's key with me. DOCTOR----Anyone would think you didn't trust me. I did just save your life, you know. AVON-------I know and am very grateful. DOCTOR----Well, you don't show it, young man. AVON-------It's not that I don't trust you, Doctor. It's just that I don't trust anybody. DOCTOR----That's understandable I suppose, after what you've told me. Very well, keep the key. I'll arrange for Vila to be taken to the sick bay, all right? AVON-------Very well, Doctor. Oh, Doctor? DOCTOR----Yes? AVON-------Do you think we are safe here? DOCTOR----I hope so. AVON-------But you can't be sure? DOCTOR----Does this, Servalan, have a space/time machine? AVON-------Not as far as I know. DOCTOR----Then you should be safe. Right, you get off to Miss Smith while I find out what the Brigadier wants and, er, prepare him for the sight of you and Vila.
------------------------------
BRIGADIER---Ah, there you are at last, Doctor. DOCTOR----Observant as ever, Brigadier (!) So, what's the emergency? BRIGADIER---No emergency, Doctor. DOCTOR----No alien invaders? BRIGADIER---Not as far as I know. DOCTOR----Then, why call me? BRIGADIER---It was the only way I knew to get you back. DOCTOR----Why? BRIGADIER---There's someone who wanted to see you. DOCTOR----Couldn't it have waited? BRIGADIER---No, it couldn't. Knowing you, you'd have arrived under your own steam too late. Or too early. Come in, miss. DOCTOR----Now, see here, Brigadier, this really isn't on, you know. I left that with you in good faith and if you can't use it properly, I'll take it away from you! Jo! JO------------Hello Doctor. Nothing changes round here I see then. DOCTOR----What are you doing here? JO------------I've come to see you, of course. DOCTOR----But I thought you were in South America. JO------------Slight hitch, but we're finally off tomorrow. DOCTOR----I'm glad. JO------------Glad I'm going? DOCTOR----Glad you're here. JO------------So am I. We never really said goodbye, did we? DOCTOR----No. JO------------You buggered off without so much as a by your leave. DOCTOR----I know. I shouldn't have done it. I'm sorry. JO------------I forgive you. You're too nice to stay annoyed with for longer than a second. DOCTOR----Thank you, Jo. So, how are you? I've missed you, you know. JO------------I missed you too. I'm very happy. DOCTOR----And Cliff? I do hope he's treating you well. JO------------Oh, yes. He says he'll carry on where you left off. DOCTOR----With what? JO------------Turning me into a scientist of course. DOCTOR----And is he succeeding? JO------------What do you think? DOCTOR----Never mind, Jo. I'm sure he'll get there in the end. Now, what about Nancy and everyone else at the Nuthutch? JO------------They're all well and send you their love. BRIGADIER---What the blazes?! DOCTOR----Ah, yes. I'd forgotton about our guests. BRIGADIER---Is that you, Miss Smith? SARAH------Well, it ain't Florence Nightingale(!) DOCTOR----Sarah Jane! SARAH------Sorry, Doctor. JO------------So, you missed me, did you, Doctor (?) DOCTOR----Of course. JO------------So, who's she, your daily? DOCTOR----She's no one important. SARAH------Thank you, very much (!) DOCTOR----You know what I mean. JO------------It's all right, Doctor. I always knew you'd replace me. You need someone to get you out of trouble, pass your test tubes and say how brilliant you are. DOCTOR----So, you don't mind? JO------------Doctor, you never could tell when I was teasing you, could you? DOCTOR----Oh, Jo. SARAH------Could somebody please help us with Vila? He's heavier than he looks, you know. AVON-------Seventy eight kilos to be precise. SARAH------How did you know that? AVON-------Orac told me. DOCTOR----Bring him over to this chair. Brigadier, could you arrange to have him taken to the imfirmary? BRIGADIER---Just a moment, Doctor. Who are these people and do they have security clearance? DOCTOR----The answer to your second question is, no. BRIGADIER---What?! Now really, Doctor. You're making a habit of this. DOCTOR----Don't burst a blood vessel, Brigadier. Think of the mess. Now, Vila here has been severely injured and Avon was about to be murdered when I arrived. BRIGADIER---I see. Where do they come from? DOCTOR----Well, it certainly isn't Cromer. They are, I suppose, refugees from the very far future. SARAH------That's one way of putting it. BRIGADIER---Are they human? AVON-------We originally came from Earth, albeit a very different one. BRIGADIER---Not your parallel mumbo-jumbo again, Doctor? DOCTOR----Not this time. BRIGADIER---Well, human or not, from the future or present, they have no right to be here, you know. DOCTOR----I do know that. I was waiting for Vila to recover before taking them somewhere safe, when you summoned me here. JO------------That was my fault. DOCTOR----I know, but it doesn't matter. What does matter, Brigadier, is that Vila needs medical attention and, as soon as he's up and about again, I'll return them to their proper time and place. BRIGADIER---I'm not sure about that. DOCTOR----I'll take full responsibility for them while they're here. BRIGADIER---(thinks) All right, Doctor. Miss Smith, would you go to the sick bay and tell doctor Sullivan he's needed? SARAH------What did your last slave die of? DOCTOR----Sarah Jane. SARAH------Sorry. Where is it anyway? JO------------Come on, I'll show you. SARAH------Thanks. It's nice to get some help around here.
-------------------------------
RANI---------At last! SERVALAN---You've found him? RANI---------Yes. It wasn't easy, you know. SERVALAN---I knew you could do it. RANI---------Save your false praise, Servalan. I know you too well. SERVALAN---So, where is he? RANI---------Earth. SERVALAN---I can't go there yet. My power hasn't been restored. RANI---------Oh, I don't think you have to worry, Servalan. He's in 1973. SERVALAN---1973? Ah, that would be the old calendar. RANI---------Quite. Shall we go? SERVALAN---What do you think?
-------------------------------
AVON-------Will he live? HARRY------Oh, I should think so. Any reason why he shouldn't? AVON-------Plenty. SARAH------Don't start that again! JO------------So, have you known the Doctor long, Miss Smith? SARAH------Call me Sarah. No, not long. You? JO------------Years. How did you come to get tangled up with him, in the first place? SARAH------I impersonated a famous aunt of mine to investigate missing scientists and was doing very well, until the Doctor tumbled. I'm a journalist. JO------------He's not as senile as he looks. SARAH------So I've noticed. Anyway, I thought he was kidnapping the scientists and hiding them in his Tardis. So, I went in, and the next thing I knew, I was in the twelfth century. How about you? JO------------I got my uncle at the United Nations to get me a job, and I was the Doctor's new assistant. He wasn't very happy, since I kept messing things up, but I think I grew on him. SARAH------And now? JO------------I'm married to a Nobel prize winner, no less. Now, don't go thinking I go on for Doctor substitutes, because I don't. Cliff is quite young, as it happens. And tomorrow, we're off to South America to find an elusive fungus. SARAH------Urgh! JO------------It's a high-protein mushroom, really. SARAH------I see. I bet you could tell me a few stories about the Doctor. JO------------I could.... SARAH------But, you're not going to. JO------------You're the journalist so find out for yourself. SARAH------No little hints on how to cope with him? JO------------You'll find out. SARAH------I think I'm beginning to.
Vila groaned and started moaning.
SARAH------I'll go and get the Doctor. HARRY------Where is he, in his lab? SARAH------I expect so. JO------------Or the Brig's office. HARRY------I'll ring through and tell him the patient's coming round. SARAH------Good idea. That'll save my feet. I don't know my way around this maze of corridors. JO------------No change there. SARAH------What do you mean by that? JO------------Hasn't the Doctor taken you around space and time much, then? SARAH------Oh, I see what you mean now. You'd think he'd get some maps, or something. JO------------Yes, well, as he would most likely say, it wouldn't be half as much fun if we knew our way around the place. VILA---------I hear women. I must be hallucinating. JO------------Hello. SARAH------How are you feeling? VILA---------You're no relation to Zee and Bar, are you? JO------------You're in hospital. Well, of sorts. SARAH------Must be the bump on the head the Doctor said he'd had. VILA---------Now, that I understand. You know, the Doctor? SARAH------Of course. JO------------We all do. SARAH------I was travelling with him when we came across you. JO------------And I used to travel with him. VILA---------Do you know, Leela? SARAH------He's never mentioned her to me. What about you, er...? Do you know, we've done all that talking, and I don't even know your name. DOCTOR----Jo Grant. JO------------Jo Jones, Doctor, remember? DOCTOR----I try not to. So, he's awake at last, eh? AVON-------So, it would seem. Never mind, there's always next time. VILA---------Bloody hell! Is that who I think it is? AVON-------Well, that rather depends on who you think it is. VILA---------I might have known. What happened on Gauda Prime? DOCTOR----What do you remember? VILA---------Who are you? JO------------He's the Doctor, silly. VILA---------No, he's not. Where's Leela, or Peri, or Ace? AVON-------To use your terms, Vila, it is him, but he's got a different face again. VILA---------I see. DOCTOR----If I had a grotzit for every time I heard my regenerations described like that, I'd be incredibly wealthy. BRIGADIER---But, when you agreed to work for us, you said you had no use for money. DOCTOR----I don't. Oh, never mind. VILA---------Okay, so you're the Doc. What was the question again? DOCTOR----How much do you remember about what happened to you, Vila? VILA---------That bastard Avon got it into that so-called superior brain of his, to find Blake, despite the fact Servalan had told him he was dead and she'd seen him cremated. AVON-------I didn't believe her. VILA---------You had a funny way of showing it! Got our ship destroyed the first time he tried and got our other one destroyed this time. Anyway, we found the base and Tarrant comes out saying Blake had sold us out to the Federation. So, Avon there, gets totally irrational and egotistical and shoots Blake. Next thing you know, there's shooting all over the place and Federation troopers come from nowhere. I got hit and that's all I remember, until waking up here, surrounded by these two lovely ladies. DOCTOR----I see. Well, you're quite safe here, Vila. VILA---------Where exactly is, "here", Doc? AVON-------I'll explain all that later. VILA---------Where are Tarrant and the others? AVON-------Dead. VILA---------I see. DOCTOR----I'm sorry. VILA---------Which is more than he is! I bet you'd have preferred it if I'd died too, wouldn't you, Avon? AVON-------It wasn't supposed to turn out like that, Vila. You've got to believe me. VILA---------I'll never believe anything you ever say again, Avon. You killed Blake with your own hands. AVON-------Actually it was a gun. VILA---------With your finger on the trigger. AVON-------I did what I did because it was right at the time. VILA---------Bit late I'd have thought to say you acted hasty. AVON-------But, I did. You know what it was like there. Tarrant got it all wrong. VILA---------So, now you're blaming Tarrant. AVON-------He jumped to conclusions- VILA---------And so did you! AVON-------The alarm was ringing. It was chaos! VILA---------But you didn't even give poor Blake a chance to explain! AVON-------If there's been more time- VILA---------There was time, if only you hadn't been so trigger-happy! I don't know what happened to you, Avon. But somewhere along the way you went from a cold, heartless, selfish bastard who'd shoot you in the back as soon as look at you, to a totally insane, cold, heartless, selfish bastard who'd shoot you in the back as soon as look at you. AVON-------Am I really that terrible? VILA---------You tried to kill me to save your own skin. AVON-------Well, I am rather attached to it. VILA---------So am I, but I wouldn't use the measures you do to keep it! AVON-------I really don't know what has happened to me, Vila. Time, perhaps. Or even.... Anna. VILA---------Anna?! AVON-------It is possible. I kept going purely in the hope of getting revenge for her murder and all the time she was alive. How would that make you feel, Vila? VILA---------I suppose that could be the reason. Or at least one of them. Look, Avon, you and me have been through a hell of a lot together. The prison ship to Cygnus Alpha, the Liberator, losing Gan, Cally, Jenna, Blake even. Gaining Dayna, Tarrant, Soolin. Terminal. Gauda Prime. We're the only ones left out of all that. Doesn't that count for anything, Avon? AVON-------You have a point. A very small one, but a point nonetheless. VILA---------You've got to stop being so wrapped up in yourself and start to care, Avon, or you'll never survive. AVON-------And, what about you, Vila? VILA---------What about me? AVON-------What do you think of me? VILA---------I hate your guts, but I'd miss you if you got yourself killed. AVON-------I see. I shall need to have a think (leaves). VILA---------Take as long as you like, Avon. I'm in no hurry to leave. JO------------Pity. VILA---------What's the matter, girls, don't you like me? SARAH------Of course we like you, don't we, Jo? JO------------Of course. VILA---------I knew you did. I really don't know how you do it, Doc. DOCTOR----Do what? VILA---------And at your age, too. How old are you, incidentally? DOCTOR----Oooh, about six hundred and eighty. VILA---------Really? You look so young. DOCTOR----Thank you. VILA---------I hope I can still get the pretty girls flocking around me when I'm as old as you.
The Doctor was not amused, but Jo melted his fury by laughing.
JO------------Yes, Doctor. You really are a dark horse on the quiet, aren't you? SARAH------Well, he does have an interesting chat-up line. JO------------Hmm. "How about a quick trip round the galaxy", is more original than, "Do you come here often?" DOCTOR----All right, that's enough, you two. Or should that be, three? VILA---------I take it, Doc, you won't mind if I have this lovely little blonde here and Avon has the brunette? SARAH------We do have names, you know. VILA---------And nice legs too from what I've seen. I'm very partial to nice legs. SARAH------And I'm very partial to giving men a knuckle sandwich. VILA---------What's that, than? SARAH------Do you want to find out? DOCTOR----I wouldn't advise it, Vila. VILA---------Then, erm, no, thank you. I'm a vegetarian. SARAH------You know, I've often wondered something about vegetarians. VILA---------And, what might that be? SARAH------They always say, no meat shall pass their lips. VILA---------That's right, and it doesn't. SARAH------But do they have oral sex? VILA---------I wouldn't know. JO------------Didn't think you would. VILA---------Are either of you vegetarians? SARAH------No. JO------------I am now. VILA---------How about answering darkie's question? JO------------No fear! DOCTOR----All right. Time for you to rest, Vila. VILA---------Okay. Can the girls stay? DOCTOR----Of course they can. They can tend to your every desire. JO------------Doctor! SARAH------Doctor, please. DOCTOR----See you later (leaves). SARAH------Isn't that typical? JO------------Crafty old bugger. VILA---------Now, which one of you lovely ladies is going to give me a bed bath?
They just looked at each other then poured a jug of water over his head.
To be continued...

Part 3
Meanwhile, the Rani's Tardis had turned into a tree just a few yards from UNIT HQ, and the Rani had taken Servalan down the road to steal a car.
SERVALAN---But, I can't drive. RANI---------So? SERVALAN---I'll crash! RANI---------That's the idea. You drive as close to the gate as possible, then crash it and pretend to be badly injured. They're bound to let you in then, because you'll be hurt. SERVALAN---I see. And, where will you be? RANI---------Waiting by the Tardis for you. Now, get on with it!
Servalan reluctantly did as she was told and got in the car. The Rani did the seat belt up for her then hot-wired the engine with a Gallifreyan gadget. She instructed Servalan what to do, the stepped aside as Servalan set off down the road. Just as she planned, the car crashed right by the gate and a couple of soldiers went to see if they could help. Servalan wasn't hurt, but moaned in fake agony, pretending Avon was stimulating her.
SOLDIER----Are you okay, miss? SERVALAN---I think so. Ooooh! SOLDIER----Where does it hurt? SERVALAN---My leg. Ahhh! SOLDIER----Just a minute, miss.
The soldier radioed this information to the Brigadier, who instructed Harry to attend the scene.
SOLDIER----Don't worry, miss. Our doctor's on his way over. SERVALAN---Doctor? SOLDIER----Doctor Sullivan. Ah, here he is. HARRY------How do you feel, miss? SERVALAN---You are the Doctor? HARRY------Yes. Now, I was told it was your leg. Does this hurt? SERVALAN---No. HARRY------What about this? SERVALAN---Argh! HARRY------Well, it doesn't seem to be broken. Let's get her into the sick bay so I can have a proper look at her. SOLDIER----But sir, the Brigadier. HARRY------Never mind the Brigadier. She is my patient. If it bothers you that much, then give her a pass or something. What's your name please, miss? SERVALAN---My name is Servalan. HARRY------Servalan, what? SERVALAN---I'm sorry? HARRY------I need your surname. Your last name. SERVALAN---Oh. It is Sleer. HARRY------Date of birth? SERVALAN---Er..... HARRY------Are you all right, Miss Sleer? SERVALAN---Yes. I'm trying to think. HARRY------Are you having trouble remembering things? SERVALAN---Er.... Yes, that is correct. HARRY------You probably have mild concussion. Nothing to worry about. Just a bit of a headache for a while, that's all. You'll be fine. Come on, let's get you inside. Can you walk? SERVALAN---I'm not sure. HARRY------Well, it doesn't matter if you can't put any weight on that leg just yet. We'll sort something out.
Meanwhile, Avon had returned to the infirmary after his think, and was slightly jealous when he saw Vila being pampered by Jo and Sarah.
AVON-------Vila. VILA---------Oh, so you're back, are you? AVON-------Obviously. May I talk with you? VILA---------Go ahead, not that I'll listen to what you have to say. AVON-------Alone. SARAH------The Doctor told us we should look after Vila. AVON-------Then, wait outside the door. I won't do anything to him. VILA---------That'll make a change. JO------------Very well. But, we'll be holding the handle, just in case. VILA---------I'll scream, if I need you. AVON-------You would scream, even if you didn't.
Avon watched Sarah and Jo leave then sat on the bed, which made Vila edge up it.
AVON-------I said I won't do anything to you, and I meant it. VILA---------You said you wanted to talk too. AVON-------Yes. VILA---------What about? AVON-------Am I really as bad as you say? VILA---------Do you think I'd have said it if you weren't? I may be a thief, but I'm honest. AVON-------A contradiction in terms, I think. But no matter. I've thought very hard and I've come to the conclusion that you are right. VILA---------That makes a change. AVON-------Don't wet yourself over it. Or have you already? VILA---------The girls poured water over me. AVON-------To dampen your ardour, no doubt. VILA---------It did the trick - unfortunately. Ooh, that little blonde's got spirit. AVON-------Makes a change from you. VILA---------So, nothing's changed. You might as well sod off and leave me alone with the girls. AVON-------No, Vila. Not until I've said what I have to. VILA---------Get on with it then. Jo and Sarah were told to look after me and I feel a relapse coming on. AVON-------That all you feel coming on? VILA---------None of your business. AVON-------Vila, we have been through a lot together, and I admit, losing the Liberator and now Scorpio, as well as Cally, Dayna, Soolin and .... Tarrant, were my fault. VILA---------Blake too. Don't forget that. AVON-------I'm not likely to, am I, if you keep reminding me all the time? VILA---------You were stupid. AVON-------Yes, but we probably would all be dead by now anyway whether I'd killed Blake or not. VILA---------And how do you work that out? AVON-------The Federation. Whether they were expected or waiting, I don't know. But they wasted no time killing people. VILA---------True. So, what are you saying? AVON-------It's just us now, like you pointed out. Like it or not, we need each other. VILA---------But you still hate me? AVON-------Of course. VILA---------Good. Now we both know where we stand. So, what do you suggest we do? AVON-------We'll have to start again. VILA---------Fighting the Federation? AVON-------No. With that Pylene-50, we'll have no chance. We can't return to our own time, Vila, not if we want to stay alive. VILA---------You mean, we stay here? AVON-------Or ask the Doctor to take us somewhere well away from Servalan and the Federation. VILA---------Do you think he would? DOCTOR----Does he think who would do what? VILA---------Let us stay here, or take us to another time. DOCTOR----Well, that depends. AVON-------On what? DOCTOR----Why? AVON-------You saw for yourself why on Gauda Prime. It's not safe for us to return to our own time. VILA---------He's right, Doc. For years we fought the Federation and all its corruption. It was a dictatorship. DOCTOR----Do as I say or die, eh? AVON-------Oh, yes. And Servalan was the worst for that. We were doing very well. Resistance groups appeared more and more. VILA---------And had countless victories under our belts. DOCTOR----What happened to change all that? AVON-------Pylene-50. DOCTOR----What's that? AVON-------A drug the Federation developed to keep everyone nice and passive. DOCTOR----Good, obedient little slaves, eh? VILA---------Exactly. AVON-------At first we could combat its effects, but they increased the dosage and we were unable to do a thing about it. One betrayal after another led me to seek Blake's help. VILA---------Only things didn't turn out as planned. AVON-------And we are all that is left. Servalan will stop at nothing to have us dealt with. VILA---------We know too much about her. DOCTOR----Like what? AVON-------Servalan was presumed dead. VILA---------Blown up with the Liberator. DOCTOR----That was your ship? AVON-------That's right. For some reason she assumed a false identity. VILA---------Calls herself Commissioner Sleer. DOCTOR----But surely this Federation would realise it is her. VILA---------That's what we'd have thought and we can't understand how they don't. AVON-------Anyway, she has killed many to protect her secret and this would give her another excuse to have us die too. VILA---------Not that she'd need an excuse. DOCTOR----I see. In that case, I can't let you go back there. You can stay here or I'll take you wherever you want to go. AVON-------Thank you, Doctor. VILA---------Yeah, cheers, Doc. Erm, Doc? DOCTOR----Yes, Vila? VILA---------You wouldn't by any chance, have some adrenalin and soma in that magic box of yours, would you? DOCTOR----"Magic box"? AVON-------He means your Tardis. DOCTOR----Oh. Why didn't he just say that in the first place? AVON-------Do you really need to ask? DOCTOR----Hmm. What's, adrenalin and soma? AVON-------Alcohol. DOCTOR----Ah. Sorry, Vila. VILA---------Anything'll do. DOCTOR----No alcohol until you're better. AVON-------And, that's Doctor's orders. VILA---------Ha! Ha! Not even a little sip? DOCTOR----No. VILA---------Not even for medicinal purposes? DOCTOR----Not even for that. Sorry, Vila. VILA---------You obviously don't approve of alcohol. DOCTOR----On the contrary. I'm very partial to a good drop of wine. VILA---------That'd do. DOCTOR----No, Vila. But, as soon as you're fully recovered, I'll open a bottle of my 1786 claret and share it with you, okay? VILA---------Is that booze? DOCTOR----A very special bottle of booze. VILA---------You've got a deal, Doc.
Just at that moment, Harry and a soldier burst through the doors carrying Servalan, and laid her on a bed. At first no one took any notice and then Avon got suspicious and went to have a closer look.
AVON-------Servalan! VILA---------What's she doing here? DOCTOR----I'm wondering that myself. VILA---------And, you said we were safe, Avon. DOCTOR----Do either of you know anyone else who has a Tardis? VILA---------Well, there was that woman in leather. What was her name? AVON-------Rani, I think she called herself.
Servalan sat up and pointed a gun at them.
SERVALAN---Congratulations. I thought you'd never work it out.
---------------------------------
SOLDIER----This is the car, sarge. BENTON----So, I see. How fast was it going when it crashed? SOLDIER----Not very, but it was going all over the place. BENTON----Then there's no way she could be as badly hurt as she claims. Where did doctor Sullivan take her? SOLDIER----Sick bay. BENTON----Right. I'm off to find out what's going on.
-------------------------------
VILA---------Servalan? SERVALAN---What? VILA---------There's something I can't work out about that gun of yours. SERVALAN---And what might that be, how it works? I could easily demonstrate. VILA---------No, thank you. SERVALAN---Pity. I was looking forward to some target practice. VILA---------Try Avon. No, I was just wondering where it came from. Since there's no pockets in that skimpy, see-through black thing you're wearing, I can only assume you had it between your legs. SERVALAN---You know nothing about what is, or isn't between my legs. VILA---------Don't want to either, especially since a gun's probably the only thing you'll have up there. SERVALAN---That was your last chance!
Servalan aimed the gun at Vila and was about to shoot him, when Benton walked in.
BENTON----Right then. Is anyone going to tell me what's going on here?
Servalan's mouth fell open at seeing him and was stunned enough for Avon and the Doctor to tackle her and remove the gun.
DOCTOR----Lock her up, Sergeant. VILA---------And make sure she doesn't get free. BENTON----I won't, sir. Come on, miss.
Servalan was led away. Vila was pleased, but afraid she'd wrangle her freedom. Avon, however, was curious at her presence.
VILA---------What will happen to her? DOCTOR----She'll be questioned. VILA---------Then what? DOCTOR----It depends on her answers. Now, as it's getting late, I suggest we all get some sleep. Avon, I'll arrange with the Brigadier for you to rest somewhere. AVON-------Thank you, Doctor. DOCTOR----Now, Jo, Sarah Jane- VILA---------What about me? DOCTOR----You'll sleep here. VILA---------Alone? JO------------I can stay and keep an eye on him, Doctor. DOCTOR----What about your trip? JO------------There's hours yet. I'll phone Cliff and explain. DOCTOR----Are you sure he won't mind? JO------------Why should he when he has me for the rest of his life? DOCTOR----Thank you, Jo. SARAH------I'll stay too. DOCTOR----Don't you want to get home? SARAH------Yes, but Jo might need help controlling his ideas. DOCTOR----Ideas? JO------------Never mind. Thanks, Sarah. DOCTOR----If you're sure. SARAH------Quite sure, Doctor. DOCTOR----Right then. Come on, Avon. Let's get you sorted out for the night
To be continued...

Part 4
Several hours later when everyone was asleep, Avon rose from his bunk and set about finding the cells. He saw through the lab window the Doctor was still awake and twiddling with something. He ducked out of sight and continued his search. Eventually he found them, and was surprised there was no one on guard.
AVON-------This certainly wouldn't happen with the Federation. SERVALAN---Is that you, Avon? AVON-------No, it's the President of the Federation (!) SERVALAN---It could be. AVON-------And what do you mean by that? SERVALAN---You and me. AVON-------Joint power? SERVALAN---Yes. Why not? AVON-------I can think of two very good reasons. SERVALAN---Which are? AVON-------Firstly, you've offered it to me once already and, as you know, I didn't trust your motives then. SERVALAN---And, second? AVON-------You're in there and I'm free. SERVALAN---That's only a temporary arrangement, I assure you. AVON-------That still doesn't explain why you followed us this far back in time. SERVALAN---I knew you'd be on Gauda Prime only you got away before I got there. AVON-------So? It's usual that you want to kill me. SERVALAN---Not any longer, Avon. AVON-------So, why do you want me this time, Servalan? SERVALAN---You are the only one who can help me regain my power. AVON-------And, once you've got it you'll have me shot. We've already done this, Servalan. SERVALAN---I know we have, but this time you will be safe. You have my word. AVON-------Words are meaningless to you, Servalan. SERVALAN---I need you, Avon. You and I will be invincible. We could be a very powerful combination. AVON-------What about, Vila? SERVALAN---He will die. AVON-------Will he? SERVALAN---We both want it and know he'll be useless on his own. AVON-------More useless, you mean. SERVALAN---Of course. What do you say? AVON-------You'll guarantee my life? SERVALAN---Yes. AVON-------How do I know I can trust you? SERVALAN---You don't. AVON-------All right. SERVALAN---You agree? AVON-------I'll probably live to regret it. SERVALAN---No, you won't. AVON-------Live? SERVALAN---Regret it. AVON-------I hope not. SERVALAN---Or you'll kill me? AVON-------Perhaps. SERVALAN---We're too alike, Avon. That's why we would be good together. AVON-------We'll see. SERVALAN---Right. Rani's waiting for us so, if you'll release me, kill Vila and get Orac, we can go. What are you waiting for? AVON-------Orac and Vila's death are not part of the deal. SERVALAN---What?! Why not? We need Orac and we don't need Vila. AVON-------Vila stays and survives on his own. As for Orac.... SERVALAN---What about it? AVON-------I'm the only one who knows where it's hidden. Kill me and you'll never know. SERVALAN---It's on Gauda Prime, isn't it? AVON-------No. SERVALAN---Then, it's here. AVON-------No. SERVALAN---Then where? AVON-------Somewhere you'll never find it. And don't even think of having me tortured because I'd rather die than let Orac fall into your hands. SERVALAN---You do know me too well. AVON-------So, it is just me, or stay here forever. SERVALAN---It seems you leave me with no choice. All right, Avon, you win. Now, let me out of here so we can go. AVON-------All right. But, before we leave, I must write a note for Vila. Tell him not to worry. SERVALAN---No tricks. AVON-------Would I? SERVALAN---Yes. AVON-------We're going to have to trust each other at some point if this partnership is going to succeed. SERVALAN---And it will, Avon. It [/i]will[/i]. AVON-------Oh, I do hope so.
The following morning no one could find Avon, but the Doctor had a few ideas. Everyone was talking amongst themselve in the lab when the Brigadier burst through the doors.
BRIGADIER---The prisoner's gone! DOCTOR----Yes, I thought as much. BRIGADIER---You knew? DOCTOR----I suspected, Brigadier. BENTON----We found this note on Avon's bunk. It's addressed to you, Doctor. DOCTOR----Thank you (opens it). Yes. I thought as much. VILA---------What does it say, Doc? DOCTOR----It says; "Dear Doctor. Thank you for all your help. By the time you read this, you will probably have guessed I have left with Servalan. How long I remain alive is anyone's guess. I thought it best this way, to prevent her from killing Vila or getting Orac, which I bequeath to you, Doctor. I know you will look after it and make sure Vila is safe. He called me selfish and he was right. Heartless too. After everything I caused, I cannot allow Vila's death to add to that. We shall return to Gauda Prime. Servalan has plans of joint power, but both Vila and myself know what she is capable of. So, I lied to her about Orac's whereabouts. She may have guessed I brought it with me, in which case, I urge you, Doctor, not to let it get into her hands. Goodbye Doctor. Yours, Avon. P.S. Vila, try to cut down on the drink, otherwise you'll have less time for the pretty girls." JO------------Do you think he's dead? VILA---------What's going to happen to me now? DOCTOR----What do you want to happen? VILA---------I don't know. I suppose, I could always go to Kerril on Vilaworld. DOCTOR----Yes, you could. VILA---------No, I couldn't. We both know I wouldn't be happy there, even with her. DOCTOR----You could always stay here, couldn't he, Brigadier? BRIGADIER---Could he? DOCTOR----Of course he could. You can make up identity papers for him, like you did with me. BRIGADIER---Perhaps. But, what does he do? VILA---------I'm a thief. BRIGADIER---Charming (!) VILA---------There's not a lock or safe I can't open. DOCTOR----Very useful talents for when I'm not around eh, Brigadier? BRIGADIER---We'll see. DOCTOR----Vila, you could always go back, you know. VILA---------But I'll be killed and I'm too young to die. SARAH------Aren't we all? DOCTOR----Well, we could always go a few years after you left to see what it's like. You can decide afterwards. VILA---------All right, Doctor. I'll do that. SARAH------Let's go. DOCTOR----Now, wait a minute. JO------------Good idea. DOCTOR----Not you, Jo. JO------------Not even, for old times' sake? DOCTOR----What about your flight? JO------------You'll have me back in plenty of time. Come on. DOCTOR----All aboard the Skylark! Any other passengers? BENTON----Well, I- BRIGADIER---Not this time, Doctor. DOCTOR----Oh, well. Ta ta, then.
The Doctor entered the Tardis and dematerialised. He programmed in Avon's DNA pattern for the ship to find him in the future. The Tardis finally materialised.
DOCTOR----Well, here we are. A few years into your own future. VILA---------Where's, "here"? DOCTOR----Earth, it would seem. Shall we explore and find Avon? VILA---------Are you sure he's here? DOCTOR----Well, the Tardis is getting on a bit, you know, but I'm sure she's come up trumps this time. Come on. Not you two. SARAH------Why not? JO------------Yeah, come on, Doctor. We want to know too, you know. VILA---------Let them come if they want to, Doc. DOCTOR----(sighs) All right, then. But behave yourselves. JO------------Do we ever do otherwise? DOCTOR----It has been known.
The Doctor opened the doors and they stepped out into the President's office. They heard noises from outside, so the Doctor went to look out of the window.
DOCTOR----Vila, come here. VILA---------What is it? DOCTOR----Look.
Vila looked and saw Avon playing with eight children. Avon looked in their direction and started walking towards them.
VILA---------He's spotted us! DOCTOR----So it would seem. VILA---------Let's get out of here, Doc, before he has us all killed. DOCTOR----Don't you want to know what's happening here? VILA---------Not particularly. JO------------I agree with Vila. SARAH------For once, so do I. DOCTOR----All right, Vila. We'll leave.
They headed back to the Tardis as the French window opened.
AVON-------I thought it was you, Doctor. DOCTOR----Hello Avon. How are you? AVON-------Very well. Come out, Vila. VILA---------How did you know I was here? AVON-------Do you really have to ask? If you must know, I saw you at the window. VILA---------Oh. Well, goodbye. AVON-------Not so fast. Why are you here? DOCTOR----Vila wanted to see if you were still alive. AVON-------As you can see, I am, and have never been better. VILA---------Where's Servalan? AVON-------Outside. Didn't you see her? VILA---------No. And those children? AVON-------Ours. VILA---------Ours? AVON-------Mine and my wife's. VILA---------Tough luck, Sarah. Never mind, there's plenty more fish in the sea and they're not all as slipperey as Avon here. AVON-------I married Servalan. VILA---------What?! Are you crazy? AVON-------You always said I was. We rule the Federation with no resistance and unlimited credits. VILA---------As well as populating the universe. What a horrible thought! AVON-------But it's a fact, Vila. Both Servalan and I have changed, although I still wouldn't trust her if she got Orac. It is still safe, isn't it, Doctor? DOCTOR----Quite safe, Avon. VILA---------I feel sick. I want to go home, Doc. DOCTOR----Home? VILA---------Where we've just come from. That Earth. DOCTOR----Are you sure, Vila? VILA---------Yes. I don't want to live in fear of their offspring, thank you very much! AVON-------And you won't, Vila, I promise. Quick, into the Tardis, Vila! VILA---------Why? AVON-------Servalan's coming and I don't want her to see you. VILA---------Right!
Vila ran like the clappers but couldn't get in so hid behind. SERVALAN---Well, well, well. DOCTOR----Hello, Mrs Avon. JO------------Ding-dong. SERVALAN---What was that? JO------------Nothing. SERVALAN---And to what do we owe this pleasure? AVON-------They came to see how we were. SERVALAN---Very well. Where is Vila? AVON-------Ah, well, the Doctor has told me that Vila died. SERVALAN---Really (?) AVON-------Yes. His wound became badly infected. DOCTOR----That's right. He went into a coma and died. I thought Avon ought to know. AVON-------Well, he's better off dead. SERVALAN---How true! DOCTOR----Well, we really must be going. Jo here, has a plane to catch several thousand years ago. Goodbye.
They said their farewells and Avon escorted them to the Tardis, while Servalan returned outside.
AVON-------Take care of Vila, Doctor. DOCTOR----I will. Where is he? VILA---------Here. I couldn't get in. DOCTOR----You can now. Goodbye Avon. AVON-------Pleasant journey, Doctor.
The Tardis dematerialised and returned to UNIT hQ. Avon returned to Servalan outside.
SERVALAN---Have they gone? AVON-------Yes, my love. SERVALAN---Vila too? AVON-------Vila's dead. SERVALAN---Of course he is (!) AVON-------The Doctor said, and they were with him when he died. Why would they lie? SERVALAN---I really have no idea. Avon, my darling? AVON-------Yes, my sweet? SERVALAN---How do you fancy letting the nannies look after the children for an hour or two? AVON-------I think that would be a wonderful idea. SERVALAN---Thought it would be. Oh, by the way, there is something I was meaning to tell you over breakfast. AVON-------And, what's that? SERVALAN---I'm expecting again. AVON-------Really? SERVALAN---The medic thinks it might be twins this time. AVON-------Well, what's two more mouths to feed, when you're as rich and powerful as we are? And it is fun getting you in that condition, isn't it? SERVALAN---Getting there, I agree. I always knew we were made for each other, Avon. It's just a shame it took us so long to get together. AVON-------I thought you wanted a lie down. SERVALAN---I do. AVON-------Then, stop talking woman and get up those stairs. SERVALAN---With pleasure.
-----------------------------
DOCTOR----Here we are, safe and sound. VILA---------So it would seem. Why would Avon say I was dead? DOCTOR----Why do you think? VILA---------Servalan's not stupid, you know. She'll know he's lying and come and get me. DOCTOR----Perhaps. Now, if you go with the Brigadier here, he'll soon sort you out. BRIGADIER---Very well, Doctor. But is no one going to tell me what happened? VILA---------I will, Brigadier. BRIGADIER---Right. We'll talk as we go. You, er, off again, Doctor? DOCTOR----As soon as I've said goodbye to Jo. SARAH------Florana again? DOCTOR----I can but try. See you later, Vila. VILA---------Yeah. DOCTOR----Chin up. There's a nice bottle of wine waiting for you in your room. VILA---------Yeah? DOCTOR----For when the Brigadier's finished with you. VILA---------Well, what are we waiting for then? Come on, Brigadier. (leaves) DOCTOR----Time to go, Jo. JO------------I know. DOCTOR----It was good to see you again. JO------------You too. I'll miss you. Well, everyone really. But you the most. DOCTOR----And I'll miss you. JO------------Are you sure you'll have time? DOCTOR----Sorry? JO------------What with all your gallavanting around time and space. DOCTOR----Oh, I see. I miss everyone, Jo, but those who travelled with me the most. JO------------Well, I'd better be off, otherwise Cliff'll send out the police. DOCTOR----Yes. JO------------It was nice meeting you, Sarah. SARAH------Nice meeting you too. JO------------Take care of him. DOCTOR----I don't need taking care of! SARAH------Yes, you do, doesn't he, Jo? JO------------He most certainly does. Well, goodbye Doctor. DOCTOR----Au revoir, Jo. JO------------Yes. Au revoir.
Jo kissed him on the cheek, gave him a great, big cuddle, then left without looking back. The Doctor just sighed.
DOCTOR----Right, let's make sure we arrive on Florana this time. Come along, Sarah Jane. SARAH------Coming.
And so they left. Jo went to South America with Cliff, Avon and Servalan lived happily ever after while Vila enjoyed being head of his department at UNIT, especially since his staff were hand-picked woman and had all the drink he could want at his disposal.
The End
