Sorry, I thought it was okay but not brilliant. Lots of emotional stuff that I got sick of after a while. A good episode though, and better than last weeks.
I think it should change now though, to either more in the past or more on different worlds as Patsy said were in the old series. A three parter on a distant planet which would introduce new characters (possibly a new assistant for a few weeks) and have a slow building story eventually reaching an action packed climax would be brilliant at this point in the series.
And after tonight I hope that we get a break from Rose's family until near the end of the series as it is too emotional and not enough fun with them around. DW needs to be a good mix to make an episode good, and this weeks had no real comedy at all. Too depressing!

I'll have to watch this again properly because of too many interruptions but I was bored out of my head in the first five minutes. Haven't we been here before? The memory's struggling but I'm sure we've had eaters of time due to something not happening as part of history that should have. As for baby Rose and being under seige, wasn't that ripped off from Curse of Fenric with Ace's baby mother and being under seige in a church too? My dad said about the car going in the wrong direction from the start and not being anywhere near the church in the first place. Maybe if we hadn't already had Rose's mum and boyfriend numerous times already, this would have been better. They might as well be flipping companions! It was said the series started off light and got heavier as it went on. Has anyone also noticed the Doctor never saves the day? It's always someone else. And what about the Blinovitch Limitation Effect? Or are they changing all that too to suit themselves? My friend (who still won't join) is totally against fans writing books and things, mainly because they get so arrogant. During this series, I'm starting to agree with him. With the Tardis, there's so much to explore out there and they're making it very limited. I suppose we'll have to hope series 2 gets out to other worlds and times in the past and future and not past and future on earth so close together and drop Rose's mum and boyfriend.
The BBC3 programme annoyed me when they went on again about the Doctor being the last Time Lord and has no family. He dumped Susan on earth in the 22nd century! The Rani, Monk, Master and possibly even Romana wouldn't be anywhere near Gallifrey so they're out there in time and space with the first 3 meddling.

I liked the Dalek one and I liked last week's one - although last week's was rushed and in doing so they got sloppy with time rules.
As to this week's, good concept but worst episode so far. Again because they had to cram 2 hours worth of material into 45 minutes.
I also really hated this episode as it broke its own rules on too many occasions, controdicted time and all sorts.
Also tonight's episode was so predictable right from the begninning. You can't believe the Doctor would of been so stupid to agree to take her to the death point once let alone twice. However okay I'll let them off that was the point of the story Rose had to muck up time.
However the thing that really let the whole episode down from 10 minutes in you just knew that Rose's father would sacrafice himself and throw himself under the car. The end was there from the beginning so all the suspense was lost.
Tonight's episode I was so looking forward to but it is the only one I have really not enjoyed.

The two parter Aliens of London wasn't really deserving of being in two parts, while this episode could have been I'd say - to add some more humour in parts and gives us more of a build up to Rose seeing her father. The first few minutes were all very, very rushed I thought.
I quite like Jackie, but I do think that they should give Rose's family storylines a rest for a good while now and get on with the weekly action more.
Who is the writer for next weeks episode? RTD or not?

Not one of my favourite episodes ( but it certainly beats watching Celebrity Wrestling ! )
Next weeks seem to about London again, I hope we soon have an episode about somewhere different. a far distant planet, perhaps.

Steven Moffat is the writer of next week's. Another 2-parter in flipping London. This new format does have its drawbacks. I suppose it's fine for people who never saw the original so are used to things being this way. But RTD seems to be shooting himself and other writers in the foot with his hatred of cliffhangers. There's no story and character development and no explanations about things. It's all in one ear and out the other.
Agreed Lane. I mean, 2 Doctor and Rose's?? Come on. Or are they breaking the laws of time because they got rid of the Time Lords so think it doesn't matter any more? Yes. The fact they kept showing that car in a time loop (you notice that wasnt mentioned either) made it so obvious he'd run out and kill himself. There's just no suspense any more. Hopefully next time with more writers and less RTD they'll be more original and truer to the original concept.

I persoanlly liked it. I still agree about Rose's family being done too much, but time travelling aalternate time lines and paradox's interest me. I might not watch again next week as it's yet ANOTHER back in time one! (Okay i will but i want some some friggin' alien planets and wierd people!!) It's always going to be a problem - this ripped off that from the past, that ripped off this from the past. But in that respect none of you are going to anjoy any of them in that case and dare i say it ends up sounding a bit fanboy-ish. It wasn't a great episode but it was good and better than the two part aliens and last weeks. You make vaild points however i expect of contridicting rules, but as i haven't seen much of the oldies i couldn't say but i do respect your opinions in that point. i'm more narked about the subject of next week's episode.

LOL! RTD is obsessed with fans too and slags them off. Though he always says 'fanboys' and never 'fangirls'. He needs to get out more I think. I presume he's never been to conventions otherwise he's know most fans are normal with about 5% weird.
Me too. I want planets and daft costumes! I want Dorset sand pits! Okay, Welsh sand pits. I want decent stories with proper explanations and development. In the old ones, you feel sorry when some minor characters dies because they've been developed. It's quite sad when Bert the miner does in The Green Death even though he's only in a few eps. Does anyone get sad when any of these snuff it?

Well I have slept on it..and after a very heated debate with me,my oother half and a friend of ours who was in tears at the end..I thought it was rubbish....more holes than Nottingham lace... Why did the tardis interior dissapear?..why was that car repeatedly coming round the corner nowhere near to where he should have been knocked down?..why was the car turning the corner to the right instead of the left?..Why was everyone so accepting that it was all to do with Time travel, and just sat there to accept their fate,I'm sure you would at least try to attack the creatures, there would be tall spikey candle holders etc in churches..what were the creatures..??Why didn't the Doctor tell Rose she couldn't go on with him because she upset time, like he did with Adam last week (Sexist pig lol)... too many unexplained carryings on..The job of the assistant is to ask the questions the viewers would ask,and the Doctor is meant to explain it..not just brush it off with some blase explanation and everyone go "Oh OK then"..I think RTD is getting too big for his boots with ideas above his station !!

Quite a turnaround of opinion there, Nick. My dad wondered about that car. It was ridiculous. And you're right about the assistant's job. But nothing's every explained.
Give the programme to someone else!!!!! Although RTD never wrote it, he might as well have done for all the holes.

I thought you'd given up since you haven't posted on this thread for a while. I'm beginning to wonder if we die-hards will ever be satisfied. But then, it's not what we're used to. You actually got educated in science and history in the old days. Not now. 40 mins to fit in with US commercials. That's not long enough for this type of programme. It amazes me how you get the likes of Steven Moffatt, Rob Shearman and Mark Gatiss writing excellent Big Finish audios but then they are doing it as 4-parters as it should be. I can't stand any of those Davison two-parters (mainly because the writing was crap) but they are better even at 10 mins longer than what we're getting now. I fancy a trip to Wales and being scared by giant maggots! I dread to think the botch The Green Death would be if done as 40 mins. Or even 80. Send RTD down the mines near Global Chemicals!!!!!! You didn't miss much. Will you be buying the DVDs? I will in the vain hope I'll end up liking this lot with repeated viewing. Hasn't worked with the McGann film though - even in Polish!

Don't blame you. It just goes to show really how the series is good for a lot of people to watch once but not repeated viewing like the original series. I can't wait for Revelation of the Daleks in a couple of months. A proper Dalek story despite all the gore.
