I think no more than 3. It's bad enough with 5 with their lack of originality and boring characters and storylines. If they had less, they could develop everyone again properly.
Last night didn't need 3. Most of the time it doesn't need 2! Could have had the dinner party at Dev and Sunita's on Sunday with the explosion at the end. I have never sat through so much padding as that first hour in my life! I was away recently and whereas there was a time I couldn't wait to catch up with what I missed, I never bothered this time.

I think three episodes of any soap is enough...there are too many charcters with nothing to do...when did Kirk,Fiz,Norris,Rita,Eileen or Audrey last have a decent storyline??

Reet was the Cilla thing this year but it was over in the blink of an eye. Audrey was Richard. Kirk and Fiz was that stupid triangle with Tyrone. That's about it. Patsy

Definately agree 3 episodes of all soaps is enough. For Corrie Mon/Wed/Fri like it used to be!

Three is enough, but at a push, a fourth on Sunday.

Yes I think Corrie is good enough at the moment to dop 4 a week. Sunday's wouldnt be quite the same without Corrie.
Id not miss the Sunday Emmerdale episodes though, thats the one im most likely NOT to watch.

Angela and Katy is recycling dialogue. Thank goodness Lucy-Jo's filmed her last scenes. Should only have another month of this drivel. They all copy each other so you have similar storylines running consecutively in several soaps. They're desperate to fill all those hours a week so are writing rubbish as padding and rubbish they drag out until we're all suicidal.

I agree totally that less is more. Quality is always better than quantity. They are struggling desperately to fill all that space with 'melodrama' when they could do more community-minded stuff. Then again, there's always the street party for Camilla and Charles on the horizon....!

LOL! I wouldn't be surprised if more people watch Ken and Deirdre get married than Charles and Camilla.
Yes, community stuff would be good. But they wouldn't do that. Won't be able to get the casuals in with all that plugging if someone just burnt the toast. LOL!

I think 3 is enough as well-I'd take quality over quantity anytime. Also I don't think we would fall behind as much with 3 episodes. (we still get 4 episodes a week even though you air 5-so each week we fall behind. Right now we are 10 months behind the UK) Starting April 4th we are going to be getting 8 episodes a week for 6 weeks to try and catch up a bit. That will be a lot of Corrie. I almost did a survey last week-which wedding will you be watching-Ken & Deidre of Charles and Camilla?

We had 8 episodes the week of Mad Maya, it was far too much, especially as one day we had 3 episodes in 1 night. The usual 5 episodes a week would have been more than enough as there was so much padding.

Here they are going to show an hour on Mon, Tues, Wed and Fri. There will also be the omnibus on Sunday-4 hours! (we will tape it on the Sunday and watch during the week and will be able to fastforward the commercials).

Thats a good idea, each episode is around 23 mins long so its great when I tape it so can FF the ads. I usually watch it "live" though, but used to be out on a Monday night but come back and watch the 2 episodes in about 45 minutes which only goes to show how many ads they show.

You need longer than that to catch up, Deborah, especially if they're going back to 4 afterwards. I just wish they'd start dropping eps here.
Mad Maya was rubbish. The best was at the end of part 2 when Dev's first shop blew up then the one after that. The one next was padded rubbish then we got the shop blowing up which was brilliant. But the 2 after that needed one. It was overhyped and a huge let down.

Mad Maya was indeed rubbish, Patsy, but in all this time the only interesting thing about Dev has been his girlfriends. He's got nothing else going for him as a character, especially the recent revelation about his love of trams. Sunita has been through a lot, should she have now to be married to an ex-playboy tram-spotter?

Patsy They say they are catching us up, but I think the real reason is there's a hockey strike here. In April/May they are used to having hockey on every night on cbc. They are just filling in their time slots! There is talk they are going to go to 5 episodes a week after, but it has not been confirmed. When I first started watching the show, we were 6 weeks behind.

What episodes are you seeing now Deborah? It must be annoying being so far behind, I used to watch a NZ soap a few years ago on our local station here in Wales and was annoyed we were behind.

LOL pearly queen! Yes, it's funny Sunita hasn't noticed any books hidden in the wardrobe or something. Maya herself was good but at times even before he dumped her she was OTT at times. She's also taken eye rolling lessons from Richard.
Deborah, if they do have 5 then at least you should get onto some sort of even keel. But it would be better to reduce them this end then you'd catch up quicker. ;D

This week Katie found out about Todd and Karl. Maria just had her 21st and Nick proposed. Fred should be meeting Orchid soon. Last week Cilla left and Chesney is living with Les. Les thinks Janice is interested in him again. Some threads on here I find hard to post in-I have read the ITV updates, but it is not the same as actually seeing them,so somtimes hard to comment on.

And a lot of drivel too. But at least you have Ray to look forward to. Not to mention Chesney currently with the Croppers. And last year? The corner shop explosion. Has Nick left yet?

Nick is still here. I think Leanne should be arriving back soon. We haven't even had the new Baldwins arrive yet! I do read all the updates and spoilers I can online-so I do know what is coming. Thing is when you see it online it is different than having read it. I do forget some of the small things, but then it all comes back when watching the show.

Apparently we have seen the last of the one Sophie, but the other one hasn't appeared yet. Sally probably didn't even notice, as everything is 'Rosie'. LOL

LOL! Sally never notices anything except money. She's getting as bad as Reet. Sophie's new head and Danny boy were both in May so it shouldn't be much longer. Patsy
