Does anyone else agree the scene where Martin found out Katy hadn't taken her 'pill' was a cracker..I think that the scene could have been explored further with a cracking two hander episode

Sometimes there are characters on shows that you are not supposed to like. For example the Charlie story right now. I think at times when you do not like that character it shows what good actors they are. (hopefully this makes sense. LOL) They are playing the part right.
Also different storylines appeal to different people.

I know what you mean deborah...the whole thing about not liking the character is nothing to do with the actor..he/she is just doing their job

On the other hand, if the actor is bad and you're meant to care/hate the character and you don't then it's a failure. I don't like the Charlie storyline because I find it boring and stupid that Shelley's had a complete personality transplant. But they are putting in good acting. I hated the drugging Roy because it was just sick to boost ratings. I've hated everything Tracy does because Kate Ford is terrible and not convincing as a bitch. But I love to hate Cilla because Wendi Peters has portrayed her wonderfully. I'm bored with Sally and her stupid affair because we've seen it all before. I think I've got triangle-fatigue after 18 months of Kieran Roberts! And I don't give a toss about the Harrises and never did.

Yeah, and she was strong even then and afterwards. Since Cheerless Charlie she's become a stupid wimp. Is she that desperate for a fella she'll accept any lies after Peter's?

I'd use a stronger word than bunkum, Nick, but I expect it would be asterisked out! LOL!
No idea. I know Emmerdale people look at that one seeing as Tony Audenshaw has posted there. So you never know. They might have looked at the old official one though you'd never know because they still went their own sweet way. LOL!

I agree with what you say as well Patsy. If an actor can't act-then there is no hope! You don't feel anything. Earlier when we were watching Corrie, my hubby said if Cilla was at the British Isles show next year he would not go because he can't stand her. I said to him, you are not supposed to like her!!

When I met Wendi Peters (Namedropper !! ;D) a couple of weeks ago..she was lovely and looked nothing like Cilla..that is a good actress, someone who can be totally different to their real life persona...Jean Alexander,Thelma Barlow spring to mind

LOL Deborah! Wendi's doing her job right then to make people hate Cilla. I wouldn't mind meeting her. She does seem nice from interviews I've seen her on. Of course, Namedropper Nick there has, the lucky bugger! I'm not sure about Les and Cilla getting married. She doesn't love him at all, just wants a roof over her head and someone to sponge off. But I was really pleased when I heard she'd signed another contract. I think part of the problem too is TV's obsession with youth. They get pretty boys and girls regardless of whether or not they can actually act. People say Warren Jackson was wooden. But he could have become great by now if he hadn't been replaced by someone who really WAS wooden. Adam Rickett with his, "um", overlong sleeves and looking at the ground really got on my nerves. If it wants to go back to its roots, they should hire people with talent and not to get the kids watching in the hope they fancy them. Can you imagine Kevin Kennedy being cast if Curly was a new character today? Soaps, with so many eps is, I suppose, like rep in the old days and a learning curve full of hard work. Only some never improve when they ought to and will disappear off the face of showbusiness because no good director will hire terrible actors.

Did he really post? I wonder what his username was...
I can't really see Corrie people reading this, as the show seems less in touch with its fans than Emmerdale. There is no official weekend or anything like that for a start.
It'd be brilliant if there was though I suppose it could become a little too popular maybe and you couldn't bring thousands of members to the Street could you?

Wasn't it tonyaudenshaw? I remember reading a post last year about his band.
Well, I know from what I've been told by Lane and SheWolf that the Emmerdale people really LOVE the fans and the weekend, and the awards mean a lot to them. One of these days I'll get up there but so far the earliest would be 2007 if it's still going! Maybe the Corrie people (or some of them) are interested. Maybe some of the cast ARE reading. Could be being spied on by the writers to get some storyline ideas since they've run out of ideas. LOL!
I wish they would do those weekends. They've got cheap flights now from here to Manchester so I could afford it! ;D The Emmerdale team work MUCH harder but make the time. How many go to the Emmerdale one? They could limit it to 100 for Corrie. Canadian fans get that tour every year which is totally unfair. What about the UK, NZ, Australian and other fans? It's great the Canadians get to see the set and meet the stars but if they do it for one set of fans, they should do it for all of them.

The Canadians who go pay $1000's of dollars for 10 days in England. (only a few days/hours is Corrie related!) I am sure I have heard of Australians joining this tour!!! I seem to remember 3 years ago, Granada let so many people in one Saturday in August. I think you had to write for tickets-and they allowed so many 100 or so. (can't remember how many now) I just remember I went to England a month later.

I can believe that, Deborah. Those who go must really want to to pay that sort of money. Don't mind me. I'm always grumpy when I'm ill. I've never really thought about it that much, to be honest and with living so far away anyway, I'm not that likely to go anyway. Patsy

I meet a group of Corrie fans each month at a pub for lunch. (sometimes we do quizzes or Corrie bingo or just chat about the show.) The lady that formed the group is Joan who does the tours.(the nicest lady) Most of the people in the group have been on the tours. (it is mostly seniors who go) I just love listening to Joan's stories and I have seen a lot of the photos. If I came into money, I would go. LOL

Sounds like a fun lunch, Deborah. Don't think we do anything like that here. Is that like a ping? Seniors certainly have the money to do all these things I'm sure a lot of us would love to. I'd love to go on a cruise but have enough trouble saving up for Christmas - and I start trying in January! LOL! But I don't think fandom is quite as strong here as it is there. With something like Dr Who, there's various groups around the country that has get togethers but you don't have that with Corrie at all.

I am surprised you don't have get togethers in England. I guess our lunch is sort of like a ping-but pings tend to have a lot more activities, are a bit more lively and they are usually at night. The lunch is more of a group get together-they call themselves the barmcakes. (we have our next one next Saturday.) I also go to a Corrie breakfast every 2 to 3 months. I try to get to as many things as I can. I am also just starting to plan my next ping-possibly end of April. I know what you mean about saving money Patsy! There is always something that needs to be paid for.
