I am just wondering how long people on the boards have been watching Coronation Street for?
I started watching about 11 years ago. For a wedding gift a few of my relatives in England paid for us to go over on holiday. My husband had never been before, so he put on Corrie to see what England was like! When we went over, we even went on the Granada studios tour. We walked on those cobbles and haven't missed a show since.
Has anyone watched from day one??

The earliest I remember on Corrie is the coach crash, when the residents went to the Lake district n a trip...I was only about 8,that would have been about 1969

I can remember the scraps thet Ena and Elsie used to have, but dipped in and out of it for years. (Worked unsocial hours and no viveo recorders of course.)
Caught up with it all on Granada Plus, but they axed that.

It is too bad the tours have closed. When I did go, I was only a beginner to the show. I would appreciate it so much more now.

My Dad was lucky enough to go about twenty years ago. I was sooooooooooo disapointed a few years ago when I went to Manchester, all I wanted to do was go to Wetherfild! I dragged my family on a tram for half a day, looking for the tinest glimpse of corrie. Saddly I never saw it.

Beside the studios is a museum-you can look out the second floor windows and see part of the street. I did this 3 years ago. I also stood at the Granada studio gates and watched the stars entering and leaving the studios. I got autographs and photos with 9 of them! Of course some of them wouldn't stop, but most were very nice. Liz Dawn (Vera) also has a pub not far from there as well. Bruno-at least you can say you have been there. LOL

I'm planning the trip to Manchester as we speak!!!!!!!!!!! It's true. It's called the 'Museum of Science and Indusrty' and it's FREE to enter. Go to the top floor of the 1st building. There's a 'touchy feely' type exhibition there and go into it. On the far wall, and further along to the left are window that directly overlook the set of Coronation Street. Have a look at my gallery at www.tarantulasweb.com/derek/ and click on 'Coronation Street'. You'll see loads of pictures that I've took of the street, including from the Museum. Look at the gallery called 'Christmas Street' and 'Dev's new shop'. They were taken from there. Oh, and getting back to the original question - I don't remember a time NOT watching the street.

In 1982 me and a couple of my friends went to have a look at the Corrie set..it was just after they had built the new set (The one used today with lifesize houses) we were very cheeky and just walked through the gates we stood at the end of the street and watched them filming a scene with Suzie Birchall (Cheryl Murray) walking down the street to take some gone off cream cakes back to the corner shop.Nobody stopped us and it was years before the Granda tours started.Where we came in was where the old Hardware shop (Next to Roys Rolls) is now and the brewery gates.

Have you met any of the actors? thanks for that. I actually live in Spain, but everytime I return to my old home I nip down to Granada. I've met LOADS of the cast, as I work on Manchester Piccadilly train station for a few years, and the cast came through a lot. Jean Alexander(Hilda) is really nice and sweet, Thelma Barlow (Mavis) and Peter Baldwin(Derek) are just like there on screen parts, Sue Nicholls (Audrey) and Bryan Mosley (Alf) are great (or were as Bryan died a few years ago), Tracy Shaw (Maxine) and Angela Griffin (Fiona) are a real laugh, Julie Goodyear (Bet) was offering me Champagne. And loads more. Tony Warren who wrote the original episodes is the nicest sweetest man you could ever met.

That is great that you have met so many! I have been lucky to meet a number of the cast too. The day I was at the studios I met Audrey, Sunita, Mike, Ashley, Jason, Tyrone, Norris, Ken, and Kevin. They were all very nice-Malcom Hebdon reminding me so much of Norris!! We also have a British Isles show in Toronto each year where a Corrie star is there. This year it is Les, but in previous years I have met Denise Osbourne, Judy, Terry Duckworth, Curly, Maria, Geena, and Eileen.

They were, although it would have been nice for them to have shown older episodes. They were showing Emmerdale from 2001 I think and Corrie from 1994. Ive seen very little Corrie pre 1976 so older eps would have been good.

I've only been watching since Kevin had a moustache. I remember a story where he crashed his van. That's my earliest Corrie memory, I think. I didn't like it when I was young. It was too scary because I was a disturbed child, for no reason. I only started watching regularly at about the time the Battersbys arrived.

I've been watching regularly since 1978 when I went to bed after it (I was 8). Before that it was school hols and when I was off sick (or the school was shut due to snow). Earliest memory is Len and Reet's wedding but Ernie Bishop's shooting was a shocker. These days it would be in all the papers with pics!
I've only met past cast - Mark Eden in 2001, Brian Capron in 2003 and William Russell last November. I am planning a trip to visit my aunt in Liverpool this June if she's well enough (just come out of hospital after 7 weeks) and will pop over to Granada one of the days to hopefully see some cast this time instead of just seeing the set from the museum.

You defo have to go to the museum. There are great views from the top floor of the set, and there are lifts for your aunt, Ihope she makes a full recovery soon. You can see the pics I've taken at www.tarantulasweb.com/derek and click on 'Coronation Street'. Also, just around the corner is the 'Old Grapes Pub' on Little Quay Street. This is Liz Dawns (Vera Duckworths) own pub.

I meant I went to the museum last time I was in Manchester in 2002. It was great but a pity about the stuff over the windows. I doubt my aunt will go with me anyway. But I have a couple of friends in Liverpool and was planning to go with one anyway. The other is a huge Corrie fan but how he avoids spoilers I have no idea. He might like to go. I'm so peeved they stopped the tours before I had a chance to get up there the first time in 2000. Ta for the link. Great pics. They were also great with all that fake snow. Patsy

Patsy, if you go in June, think of me. (I can't wait to go back-hopefully next year.) It was the highlight of my trip-won't tell my relatives that though! LOL When we went to the museum, we went to the cafeteria for a drink. I asked the lady there where I could see the Street. By her reply, I think she got asked often!! How great that you got to meet Brian Capron!!! (this Saturday I am meeting Bruce Jones at the British Isles show in Toronto.)

I will, Deborah. The last two times I was in Manchester (2000 and 2002) I arrived too late on the Friday and had to leave really early on the Monday. I was really peeved when I learnt in 2002 they start filming at 10am since I'd have been on my way home then. Anyway, at least the weekend was a total boring waste of money so I could see the cobbles somehow. The friend I was with was very reluctant to be dragged along since he doesn't watch Corrie but really enjoyed the museum. He also said to me on the Sunday, "Do you know you walk quicker going there than going back to the hotel?" I hadn't noticed but I suppose the big kid in me came out and I was so excited. LOL! I can't wait to hear about your meeting with Bruce Jones. Brian Capron was very funny but only there for an hour. I dragged my Aussie friend along since her visit was perfect timing. She wasn't interested at all. Although he'd been in Blakes 7 (and killed in the first few mins) she'd have preferred seeing a main actor. But she did enjoy it. When I told him my name was Patricia and not to hit me with a spade, he laughed and wrote on the photo, "To Patricia, You're NEXT!" LOL! He was asked by someone if he was leaving Audrey alone now (even though Richard had actually been killed off the month before) and he said he was because she's married to Alan Bradley and he's scary. LOL! He was really nice and it was so packed. Free food, 8x10 photo and autograph. Shame there was no time to talk to him properly. But Juanita got her own back by dragging me round museums because I promised I'd do whatever she wanted afterwards. Patsy
