I have just come back from the British Isles show in Toronto. We have had a great day. This years Corrie guest was Bruce Jones-Les Battersby.
We decided to go to the show later in the day this year-hoping to avoid some of the crowds. They had autograph sessions at 11, 2 and 5. We figured we would go to the 5. When we arrived my friend and her family were close to the front of the 2pm signing. They kept telling me to duck under the rope and join them. At first I couldn't. Then they said, just do it so I did. Usually I get so nervous and clammy when meeting a Corrie star, this time I didn't have time. (I was shaking though) I was surprised none of the other people who had waited 2 hours yelled at me for jumping the line. (the man behind just smiled-shows you what great people Corrie fans are.)
I went and sat with Bruce on the bench. (behind they have a backdrop of the street) I had my photo with him which he signed. Then I asked him to sign my tshirt. (I have a photo of my husband and I at the Rovers-and Bruce was the 14th one to sign it.) I told him I had stood at the studios last time I was over for 7 hours and met 9 stars. He said good for you, definitely worth it then. I also said I was looking forward to his wedding in the summer-he said, 'oh you know about that do you!' I then told him to enjoy the rest of his time in Canada. He was so nice and very down to earth-seemed to be joking with everyone. He was enjoying himself-not like last years star.
Later on we saw him pop outside to have a smoke. When he came back in he stopped by a bunch of the young girls (about 7to 10 year olds). He asked them if they had been part of the dancers who had entertained the people. They said yes. He gave them a thumbs up and told them what a great job they had done.
My husband got himself a Coronation Street 'golf shirt' (polo shirt over there I think). I have a feeling it will end up on my side of the closet though! We also picked up some cheese and onion crisps, steak pies, and other goodies. (I think we had 6 bags when we left.) You can spend a lot of money there.
Once I get my photo of Bruce and I scanned, I will post it on here.
Now I can't wait till next years show to see who the Corrie star is-hopefully someone as great as Bruce!!!
