That's write. After all, we haven't agreed so far. Still, there is a first time for everything. LOL! ;D I might enjoy it more if they didn't drag stuff out with boring characters and storylines going round in circles. Patsy And I might enjoy Emmerdale more if they cut the episodes back to 3 nights a week, and stopped using the likes of Bob and Zak for comedy when they make me cringe.

Yeah but at least they're more like real people. Though I agree about Bob. I'm starting to do his hand movements! LOL!

Lets face it, the trouble with all the soaps is that there are too many episodes of each per week.
3 times for each is plenty. They get desperate for storylines, and a lot is just padding, and thay just try to go for more outrageous plot lines.

It's greedy ITV. Quick advertising revenue so stick on extra eps and reality TV. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. It makes me laugh when you read how jobs are being lost in ITV and the Beeb to save money. Er, now this might be a radical idea but how about cutting the number of soap eps? Save a fortune there in wages alone.

Patsy I know, they would save £1700 if they cut down on just one of Barbara's appearances in Corrie (or whatever her new rate is now LOL!) Thats true about reality tv as well, its surely cant be long before another series of im a celeb - yawn.

TV companies really annoy me...they complain that they are losing viewers..then what do they do? run endless trailers for the same thing over and over again..run more and longer commercial breaks (obviously not the BBC)...squash credits up so if you see someone you recognize you can't see their name and the credits go too quickly....show too many soaps on too many days because its easy revenue, instead of having ideas for new programmes...too many gardening/buying a house in Spain/DIY/antiques/celebrity in the jungle/celebrity in the kitchen/celebrity up Sams A**e in America (as my dad would say) or wherever..how I long for the days when u used to get family fortunes/Wheel of fortune/Play your cards right/Celebrity squares/good drama/Good comedy/Variety shows..and programmes where u don't have to vote someone off...even Parky includes the 'F' word now.......

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Couldn't have ranted better myself, Nick. I really feel sorry for the youngsters of today who are growing up with this crap as the norm. One channel comes up with an idea then there's clones all over the place. I'm sick of all the trailers. It's always the SAME things they plug. Remember the days of proper credits and minimal trailers and ads? More viewers (even when Sky came along) and better programmes. No wonder they moan people are watching Sky. They want to compete so what do they do? Decent drama and comedy? Nope. More eps of soaps (usually overhyped) and reality crap. David Jason has the right idea. His The Quest was brilliant, as were the sequels. Lack of violence and swearing. Good, all-round family entertainment just as it used to be. I'll be watching Diamond Geezer tonight. Political correctness has also ruined a lot of the way programmes were made. Can't say thins, can't say that. Look at the uproar over Love Thy Neighbour. Now surely it's Rudolph Walker and Nina Baden-Semper who should cry "racist comedy" and not people who've only read about it. If they watched they'd see it was tit for tat insults. But Rudolph still says in interviews today he's proud of it. It just takes one of the cast to refuse permission and it would never have been on UK Gold or out on video. PC should be axed just as much as reality TV and soap eps.

I agree Patsy..regarding 'Love thy neighbour'.people seem to forget that the character of Bill..gave just as good as he got..and the white bloke was made to look an absolute fool in every episode...same with 'It ain't half hot mum'..the 'racist' white characters were always made to look like upper class twits or in the case of Sgt Williams,a loud mouthed stupid bully..where as the other white characters (the entertainers) were not racists and came across as jolly decent chaps.......now onto the Black and white minstrel show..i couldnt bear that anyway..and I could never understand why the singers had to 'black up' to sing the songs...why not do it as themselves..?...Just because the tradition of 'Blacking up' eg:Al Jolson goes back a long time, dosen't make it right

I think regarding the Black and White Minstrels it was all that Al Jolson stuff. I know my mum used to watch it but I haven't got much recollection of it. I don't even know why white singers used to do it in the first place unless they didn't get any recognition as themselves. Thing that REALLY annoys me are the TV things they won't show because of white people 'blacking up' yet happily show films like Peter Sellars. Bit of double standards there methinks. Wasn't one of the Indians in It Ain't Half Hot Mum white? Michael Bates I think it was. Again, it's up to the Indian actors whether it's racist or not. They didn't have to take the parts. And it's been on UK Gold and they could have said no too. Same with beauty contests. Now that REALLY gets on my wick when the feminist brigade label it sexist. If women generally thought that (and it holds no interest for me one way or the other) no one would enter them. I'm sick of political correctness. Love Thy Neighbour was brilliant comedy. Far LESS racist than Alf Garnett because instead of the one-sided rants, we got Bill giving as good as he got. And besides, how could Eddie really be racist when he lusted after Barbie? Racists wouldn't do that. He's have hated her just as much. It showed how stupid racism can be.

Eeh Patsy love..we should get together over a milk stout in the snug and put the world to rights......just one final footnote...there was a film out a while ago about two black guys who went into hiding dressed as white girls...can't imagine it getting past the boardroom if it had been the other way round....?!?!..its a funny old world

Chesney is as hard as nails despite the innocent cheeky face, he should throw Cilla over his shoulder and make her beg for mercy.

Oh i wished i'd seen Chesney throw Roy- i saw pics but was out. I still can't throw people about (in karate). It must have been hilarious. Roy talking about his dead pet was really funny but sad at the same time.
i totally agree about there being too many episodes. i don't bother to tape all the episodes i miss when i'm out anymore. You still understnad what is happening.

Great idea, pearly queen. I'm still hoping Schmeichel will eat her.
I don't blame you, Dammit. It's not as if you really miss anything these days anyway by missing some. Storylines drag on and on and on with the occasional gem of a scene like these with Roy and Chesney or Ken's outburst at Blanche.

Do you mean Tony Wood? I agree. All this stuff is OTT and if stuff like the book club is popular, then that's the way they should be going. More light-hearted and less sensationalism.
