This took place on Thursday at Salford Cathedral and I attended with a couple of friends. It was a lovely service and very moving, especially when Brooke Vincent read out a poem she had written for Maggie.
Bill Roache gave a moving tribute and Anne Kirkbride, Anthony Cotton, Craig Gazey and Sue Nicholls also read.
We had to wait outside until all the cast had gone in and there was another section for the general public to sit in. Quite a lot of the Corrie cast attended, but there were quite a few we didnt see - i was surprised Barbara, Betty, Helen Worth and Eileen Derbyshire didnt attend. But I guess its because it was a public service. Not many former Corrie people attended either - only saw Lucy Jo Hudson (with Alan Halsall), Roy Hudd and Bruce Jones. I guess lots couldnt attend due to other committments.
Didnt go to try and get autographs, nor did we take any pics inside the cathedral as it wasnt the time or place. it was a coincidence the service was timed with my week off work and few days away in Manchester so I thought I'd attend to pay tribute to a fantastic actress like Maggie! Bill Roache mentioned many of Blanche's famous put downs in his speech.
I did get a photo with Alison King and Michelle Keegan a while after the service when they were about to get back onto the coach - I wouldnt normally have but they both looked ok and id really wanted to meet them both.

I think it was prob because this service was open to the public and the press/photographers had obviously been invited as there was a place for them all to stand outside. Bill Roache and Anne Kirkbride among others were interviews. Eileen Derbyshire puts her head down when driven out of the studios in a taxi so I think there is no chance of her ever giving an interview or having a photo taken by the press! Shame really.
Was Pat Phoenix funeral open to the public or a private service which the cast were allowed to attend? I know Maggie's funeral was in London so possibly some of the cast went to that.

Closed to the public but I think it was the same place. Are there steps outside? They had it over speakers for the fans outside. But you're probably right. It was her funeral. There was a private cremation afterwards elsewhere.
