I really think it is in a very good place these days.
Some excellent ones spring to mind: Broadchurch, Prey, The Widower and Happy Valley. Top class stuff.
Anybody else got any favourites?

I`m looking forward to watching the second season of Breathless - whenever that is. The first season was brilliant. Hubby and I loved 'The Crimson Field'. I still have to catch up on episodes though. WIll hopefully watch some more tonight. Im halfway through watching the Tommy Cooper story on ITV. Have to finish it before ITV take if off their itv player lol. I was too tired to watch th erest of it last night. Then there is Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, Mr Selfridge and Gwaith/Cartref to look forward to in the autumn.

We loved The Crimson Fields - far superior to Call the Midwife IMO, which I found a bit 'twee'.
Also enjoyed Shetland, Last Tango in Halifax, Broadchurch, George Gently, Endeavour, Scott & Bailey, Sherlock, lots of others.
Next one we're looking forward to is Quirke, with Gabriel Byrne.
As you say, drama is in a good place right now, and not just in the UK.

There's some US stuff I love too...The Blacklist and Person of Interest to name but two. I think we are really spoilt at the moment

Exactly - Game of Thrones and Mad Men from the US (amongst many, many more), Inspector Montalbano (and it's prequel) and Inspector De Luca from Italy, and all the recent shows from Scandanavia.
Amazing.

Also coming up on the BBC soon - a new version of 'Mapp and Lucia', which will star Miranda Richardson and Anna Chancellor. Adapted by Steve Pemberton. Should be good.

If it's as good as the original it will be great. Was it Prunella Scales and Geraldine McEwan in the original?

I really enjoyed the last Mr. Selfridge season and did expect it to have a sophomore slump but it went the other direction! I'm anticipating there will be an eighth Foyle's War sometime, and wasn't there going to be more of the new Upstairs-Downstairs?
The original Broadchurch was fab. They just wrapped filming of the U.S. knock-off Gracepoint where I live (Canada pretending to be the U.S. in a city known for trying to be England) but I'm not sure I can bear to watch it really; not much point when knowing the story already.

That's such a shame - far superior to Call the Midwife IMO. Always found CTM a bit 'fluffy'.
