CORONATION Street star Simon Gregson is to fight a drink drive ban.

The actor was convicted of his second drink driving offence two months ago but is yet to be sentenced.

His lawyers yesterday served papers at court claiming "special circumstances" why he should not be banned.

The 32-year-old - Steve McDonald in the soap - was stopped and breathalysed in Cheshire, near his Wilmslow home.

He was convicted after arguing a "burping condition" could have affected his breath test reading.

But Macclesfield JPs heard yesterday Gregson and a doctor would testify at his sentencing hearing.

It is believed Gregson's lawyers will point to fresh evidence supporting his burping argument.

Gregson's readings were 60 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The limit is 35mg.

A burping condition, thats a new one on me.!!

This makes no sense to me at all! Its clear his driving must have been substandard or else he would not have been pulled over in the first place. Therefore burping condition could = cop out.
