He may be the Street’s resident chav, but Corrie star Bruce Jones is planning to pull on his green wellies and become a country gent. Bruce, who plays Les Battersby, has told friends he’s desperate to buy a £1.25m property in the uppercrust Cheshire village of Adlington.
The luxury pad – owned by Heartbeat actress Tricia Penrose – is just about to go on the market, and Bruce, who’s suffered a series of health problems, reckons it will be the perfect place to relax. Earlier this year, the 53-year-old’s weight plunged by two stone after he contracted pneumonia, which he said left him in so much pain he “just wanted to die”.
A friend told the Daily Star on Sunday: “Those health scares brought a lot of things into focus, and Bruce has always fancied himself as a lord of the manor. Now he’s decided he wants to spend the rest of his days a country gent.” Ooh, we can see it now: Lord Les of Battersby...
This will go down like a lead balloon with the 'Cheshire set.' ;D
