why does some of the people on the corrie section want to cut down the number of episodes? don't you like corrie? Its not that we dont like Corrie but less is more in terms of quality!

who do you think is a better character Eileen or Dirdre? Deirdre but she is not anywhere near as good as she once was.

That is so true, lostinlondon. Also I think for a lot of people it's just habit. I kept watching hoping it would get better but it didn't. Even Jez agrees at the time I gave up it was a dire period. A lot of us are old enough to remember what it used to be like at twice a week. When the 70s DVDs came out I zipped through them but was still struggling with the current not to clock watch which helped with my decision to stop completely. Even terrific writers like John Stevenson and Peter Whalley who had been there decades and wrote some of the greatest episodes in the show's history were coming out with boring scripts. It's sad the way it's declined. Answer to Alyson's question - no one. Patsy It was dire during that period you gave up I agree. But id say the past 6 months, apart from the odd boring episode, its been excellent. Even when I defended the show in 2003 and again in 2005, id say the current episodes are miles better than those era's. I really look forward to each episode now and enjoy the storylines and most of the characters. I remember when Nick said that he was giving up on Corrie in 2005 - I was not enjoying it at the time either but I dont think I could ever give it up even if it got really bad. I remember Nick going back to it. I gave up on Emmerdale last May, only going back at Christmas for a couple of weeks but now im no longer watching as firstly I find it boring and secondly the 6 nights a week is hard to keep up. As for who I would like to go out with from Corrie - well of course that would be Mr Connor (either of them I dont mind )

When I go away later this year I'm not having Emmerdale taped at all, even over a couple of days. I always get so behind. Last time I ended up skipping a lot to catch up and didn't really miss anything. EE is too many at 4 but at least it's not so bad.

Yes its impossible to keep up if you go away. When I was away in July I caught the Corrie omnibus and missed all the other programmes I watch like Hollyoaks and Home and Away.

Frazer Hines was right all those years ago when he said if you go away for a fortnight you aren't going to watch (what was) 10 eps when you get back. ITV are money mad. Advertising over sense and quality.

Spookily enough, this is almost the exact same time that I gave up on Eastenders, and have had absolutely no inclination to go back to it.
Corrie is the only one of the Big Three that I watch without fail - even if the storylines are dire, there's always something going on in a minor way, and you can always count on Blanche for entertainment.
Emm I can take or leave now - years ago it was the only soap I watched, but compared to the early years, it's just trash for the most part - too many panto characters, too much Zak Dingle School of Performing Arts (and it's spreading), too much padding, too much sensationalism, and far, far too little believable content.
