In all its 46+ years, the only Welsh family I can recall were the Hopkins family who owned the corner shop for a while in the early to mid 70`s. And even then, they were written in as the baddies of the street and they didn`t stay very long.
And the only Chinese person I can recall is from the chippy where Cilla works. Although his scenes were more for comic relief than anything else. Billy Walker had a Chinese fiancee I read about and Annie didn`t like her.
The Asians consist of Dev and the beautiful Amber.
I for one would love to see a Welsh character in Corrie that was lovable. How about it Corrie writers?

Give them chance CG..they have only had gay characters recently..and there had never been a full black family only odd black characters..Lloyd,Kelly etc....and lesbianism has yet to rear its ugly head
at least there has been a full Welsh family

I would like a Welsh character as well CG. I remember when the Battersby's went on holidays a young Welsh bloke that Toyah liked took a fancy to Janice. That was funny!

They must be using Mike Baldwin as a ceiling fan up in heaven he`s spinning in his grave so often at what`s happening at his factory.
He sacked Janice once when she started a fire from dropping a ciggie. She should have stayed sacked. In the real world she would never have had the same chances, or be allowed to spout racial remarks.
I`ve always disliked her but lately, my dislike has turned to hate. Axtually it turned to hate when she stole Dennis from Eileen. And she has the cheek to have a go at Leanne for getting paid for what Janice gave away for free.
She should have stayed in France.

Surely anyone in possesion of a UK NI number can work in the UK, and Joanne must have one, otherwise Mike Baldwin wouldn't have taken her on, or her 'twin sister/ cousin' Jessie. So how come she's still an 'illegal'? Does anyone know?

If Joanne is an illegal immigrant from Liberia, then she would not have been able to work unless Mike Baldwin, or Danny Baldwin, or the Connor Brothers, or whoever employed her, had done so on the "QT" at cheaper-than-cheap wages. You are quite correct that she would need to have had a valid NI number and to have been registered by any employer for PAYE and National Insurance. On top of all that, it's highly likely that the Baldwins or Connors would not have risked employing her on that basis, as the penalties for doing so are considerable. |

IMO the only time Janice was even halfway human was when she had an affair with Dennis - aside from that, she's been a vindictive, prejudiced, spiteful cow, and not even in an entertaining way - she needs a swift quick up the @rse, and out of Corrie without even the remotest chance of a return - she's awful.
...I just pray that she takes LOUDMOUTHED LES with her.
