Happy Birthday Corrie! ;D 47 years ago today the first episode of a new serial drama aired in the North of England. Who would have thought it would still be the number 1 soap all these years later! Wonder what ITV have planned for Corrie's 50th in 2010?

Ooh a uniform. No wonder you fell for him, CG. Does he still have the tache? Nice to finally put a face to the name. You looked lovely in your dress. Where was that? Patsy

It's such a lovely dress. You are clever. I have trouble just sewing on buttons. Was he stationed over here when you met? I'm nosey. Just call me Hilda. I'll put some curlers in now. LOL!

I didn`t sew it, I just designed it and a family friend made it for me with my specifications. I went through her pattern books and said 'I want that part for the top, another pattern design for the skirt, another for the sleeves" and so on. I bought the material from David Morgans in Cardiff. At least I think that`s the name of the huge department store in Cardiff. Its been so long now I can`t remember.
That was the name of the lady who made my dress ;D

It was around December 1989 that the McDonalds were introduced in Corrie wasn`t it? I seem to remember catching a glimpse of them before the leaving party I had after I got married and moved to the US.

He was stationed in the US (Virginia Beach, Virginia) and we were pen pals for 2 years before we met, and other 2 years before we got married. Email wasn`t around in those days. Jeez now I do feel old.

They have closed David Morgan's in Cardiff now CG - they are doing a huge redevelopment of the shopping centre which is due for completion in 2009 and they say it will be one of the biggest in the uk.
Yes it was December 1989 the McDonalds moved into Number 11 - same time as the Reet and Alan saga came to an end.

CG you make me feel less inferior. Oh how romantic. Did you ever meet any of your other penpals? I got trips to the Czech Republic, Holland, Poland and a wedding in Spain out of all those stamps. I had French and German visitors and met Juanita through the Scottish pain who I used to go to conventions with. Patsy

Thanks PQ. Pats...I never had any other pen pals. He was the only one. Funnily enough my oldest son has a female pen pal whom they met through an online school project in the beginning of the year. She`s from Kentucky, and they email each other and talk on the phone a lot. He he I bet Gail wishes that Sarah had a pen pal online that didn`t turn out to be a stalker ;D

So how did you come to write to him, CG? Aww that's nice. Have they met yet? And they reckon all kids want to do is vandalise, mug people and play computer games. I've got lazy over the years. The, er, one I have left from back then it takes me months to reply. I'm quicker by email. In fact, I often reply to people like Pam and Paul much quicker than I do others I've known longer. LOL!
