At the end of series 7 we saw the Charmed ones adopt ‘new identities’ and I can reveal they keep these identities for the first few episodes of Series 8.
Therefore, we have some ‘new’ charmed ones, but who are they? They are introduced below.
Beatrice Rosen adopts the face of Jenny Bennet AKA as Piper Halliwell. She plays Piper from Episode one to episode three. Beatrice also plays Maya, the person whose image Piper remembered when she picked her alter ego Jenny. Unfortunately, legal problems arise for Maya/Jenny in episode three and Piper is forced into a new identity.
Monica Allgier plays Phoebe’s alter ego Julie Bennet, who gets romanced by the Hunky Dex Lawson who is played by Jason Lewis.
Christine Ulloa plays Jo Bennet, AKA Paige. She appears in the first five episodes of season eight.
Andrew McGinnis plays Louis AKA Leo.
We say goodbye to these actresses/Actor when the ‘original’ Charmed ones return in Episode 5 called ‘Rewitched’, but they will always be a part of Charmed history.
Some More Charmed News.
New Faces join the cast of Charmed
With the Charmed ones still ‘Dead’ for the first few episodes, someone has to carry on fighting the demons. Enter Billie. Actress Kaley Cuoco joins the cast for the whole season.
Intially befuddling our favourite witches, Billie shows up out of the blue to kick some demon butt. She’s a young witch, who by day is a normal average college student, but at night is practising her magic. Once our Charmed ones figure out who and what she is, they take her under their wings and tutor her to hone her craft.
As also previously reported, Jason Lewis joins the cast, as Dex Lawson who steals Phoebe’s heart. They do eventually marry, but the marriage is annulled when Dex finds out that Phoebe is a witch.
I have mixed feeling of this addition to the cast of Billie, as to me the Charmed Ones are just that without any other addition, whereas this sounds as though they are bringing in Billie to help them fight demons, which is what they already do and are good at, hence the name Charmed Ones. It will, however, be interesting to know what her powers are going to be?
The series has always been a fantastic show, and although at first when Prue died and Paige entered, I was unsure whether the show would survive, but this latest series seemed to be a lot better, Paige ‘grew up’ and stopped seemingly being immature and annoying, and more importantly the magic ‘came back’ as I felt at one stage you hardly saw any magic which is what the show is all about. So with the inclusion now of Billie, and the ‘rumour’ that this series could well be the last, I am not surprised if it is the end of the line, as this is not Charmed as we know it, with other people coming in to help our Charmed ones or other actresses taking over the roles, that is not the Charmed we know and enjoy.
Maybe the rumour of a spin off will happen. If they are so insistent on bringing in new characters to help the Charmed ones, so they can have a break, maybe that would be the best solution.
Since writing this, I can reveal some more Charmed news.
LEAVING for definite is Brian Krause (Leo) and Dorian Gregory (Darryl) It is thought that Brian will leave after 10 episodes, though it is unclear when Dorian will depart, and it is said that both are leaving due to budget costs.
It has also been said that Alyssa Milano (Phoebe) was only contracted for 8 seasons, so after this new series airs, it seems unlikely that she will also return, and Rose McGowan (Paige) has also stated that at the end of the next season, she too is ready to move on.
I think after seeing the last episode of this current series, where the girls ‘died’ I think they should have called it quits then, rather than carry on, or just come in to help with the launch of the ‘spin off’ if one does transpire.
