Writers of US series Lost are considering how the show will end, though don’t expect any answers too soon.
The show, about a group of plane crash survivors stranded on a mysterious island, is not set to finish in the near future, but producers say they want an end date to “help plan future episodes.”
Speaking for US network ABC at the TV Critics Association press tour in California, the show’s executive producer Carlton Cuse, said: "It's time for us to find an endpoint to the show. It's a struggle for us, because we don't know if we have three years, four years or more to go. If we had an endpoint, then we could figure out where everything goes."
The third series of Lost is about to continue its run on ABC in the US and on Sky in the UK, in a few weeks.
With ratings having fallen on both sides of the Atlantic, the show’s creators say they want to finish the series on top, and not let it “outstay its welcome” pointing to The X-Files as a comparison.
Cuse added: "That was a great show that probably ran two seasons too long. That is a cautionary tale for us."
Cuse suggested Lost could end once it hits 100 episodes in season five. ABC are currently shooting episode 62, but other reports suggest the show would continue to its seventh season, when the cast’s contracts expire.

So behind all the madness that is Lost there is some meaning then is there? It is funny that they are talking about it being finished already though.
It is back in mid-February by the way, if anyone is interested.
