What a heartbreaking episode to the first episode and for Speed. I was heartbroken, even though I knew what was going to happen, but when you see it, you see what actually happens, and I felt so sorry for the team. They were so gutted yet had to get on with the case, regardless of what had happened.
It was fitting to see them do his funeral at the end and a fitting end to the first episode.
Speed was my favourite between and him and Eric Delka, I will really miss him.
I thought I would start this thread as a tribute to 'Speed'.

That was such a sad episode. Like you I knew it was coming, but that didn't help. It was a terrific episode though. The funeral at the end had me in tears. I am going to miss him.

Hi there, yeah, me too Even though you know what is going to happen, sometimes the actual scene is better than expected or not as you expected if yous ee what I mean? Oh, yes, I am going to miss him too, like I said before Speed was my favourite between him and Delko. I really don't know how this new guy is going to get on, I have seen an episode with him in and I am not impressed. I will say this in both threads, I really don't don't know why they had to change the cast, they worked fine in my opinion, I only hope it doesn't mess things up for them

Was he axed, or did the actor want to leave ?? If he was axed, I bet he was well peed off to go in the first episode.

Apparently he wanted to leave, but was extremely unhappy at the way Speed left, as he thought it was very unimanative as anyone can die like that. Rory Cochrane said it was very hard work and a very hard schedule although he did love it and loved the rest of the cast, who are all very close, but it got too much for him as the show was taking up most of the year to film. He says he wanted to leave in the first season and then told them in the 'Hiatus period', right after the second season. That is when everyone 'negoatiates their contracts and that's when he told them he wanted to leave, and they got rid of him at the earliest convienience which was the opening episode. He also remarks that because they allowed him to leave, he is obligated to them so he is not allowed to work in Tv for at least 4 years. Like I said he will be missed, but he said he wants to thank all the Miami viewers for being so supportive.

That sounds a bit harsh. That certainly cuts down his earning capacity, not being allowed to do TV work. It is going to seem very odd watching tonights old Miami, and seeing him in it.

Yes, tell me about it, on both accounts. Apprently like I said, because he wanted out, and they allowed him to leave virtually straight away, that was the only clause in the agreement. Yes, it will cut down on his earning, though maybe there is other ways for him to earn like adverts, I have seen Emily Procter do one for Toothpaste in the States. Mind you the only easy of making good money in the States appears to be via the Tv. The interesting bit, was when he commented on the fact that he wasn't going to do Miami in the first place but his then manager persuaded him to do it! but yes, it is going to seem strange seeing Speed still on our screens in the repeats - but also good and it will seem strange not having him in the new series.

Do you remember a character in Miami called ( I think ) Megan ? She was played by Kim Delaney. It was when I first started watching the CSI: series, so my memory is a bit hazy. I can't remember when she left, but I bet thay are kicking themselves they axed her with the leaving of Rory.

Hey you , yes, they brought Kim Delaney in as Megan to build up the same relationship as Catherine and Grissom had in Vegas, but it didn't work, so they axed her I believe and now the actress is a recluse as she could stand the pressure of fame from the show which is a bit stupid as that comes with the job unfortunately.

Thats a bit daft isn't it, fame comes with the territory, I would have thought an actress with her experience could cope with that.

Exactly, it does annoy me when they come out with daft things like that. It comes with the job, and they think it is alright when they are using the media and stuff to their own advantage.
