One of the best cop dramas ever in my opinion. I love this show, and loved it way back in the 80`s when it first came out. I can remember even sending a begging letter to the USA not to cancel it when it was threatened. And hooray the Powers That Be decided to renew it. Wish the same thing happened today.

I remember it was really big here in the 80s too.

I loved Cagney and Lacey too
I remember seeing it when Loretta Swit, then Meg Foster played Christine Cagney before Sharon Gless took over the role

Meg Foster had the most piercing blue eyes I seem to remember.

Hooray...more fans of Cagney and Lacey ;D ;D ;D
The best episodes that stand out most in my mind of pure excellence were....
The episode I watched today where Mary suspected she had breast cancer The panic of Christine when Mary Beth went into labour The death of Christines Dad Charlie and her downward spital into alcohol abuse

I remember the ones after Christine was raped. Sharon Gless put in some excellent performances there.
What was the name of the actor playing Kovac? Probably got the name wrong. It's been a long time. LOL! I didn't half fancy him.

This used to be my 'see at any price' programme.
We used to have bets on as to how soon they would disappear into the ladies loo for a discussion on the case and a good winge. ;D I think it was on in the same era as St Elsewhere and Hill Street Blues. I loved St Elsewhere, but I could never get into HSB

It was. St Elsewhere was brilliant. I liked HSB. My favourite was Mick Belker.

Wow Sooty - me too. I loved St Elsewhere too. 'Wayne Fiscuss' (Howie Mandell) is the host of 'Deal Or No Deal' in the US. Dr. Westphall and Dr Auschlander were my 2 fave docs.
Cagney and Lacey was groundbreaking wasn`t it. Remember that speech Chris gave in the cop shop when there was racial tension after Marcus Petrie was wrongfully arrested because he was black? And then Marcus broke down in tears because his daughter was called names in school. Petrie was magnificent in that scene. That speech Chris gave couldn`t be said in todays PC world that`s for sure.

You can never get any sort of writing like that again in today's PC World which is wrong as these things do still happen.

I have noticed Daved Morse in House and Ed Begley Jr in CSI: Miami and think how well they have done. I wouldn't have known who they were but for St Elsewhere.

The only character in C&L that I didn`t like was Le Guardias replacement Espesito when Sidney Klute died. It was as if the writers were giving him old scripts of Isbeki to read. And I wasn`t keen on Isbecki much either

Does it ever get repeated over there? I can't remember the last time it was here. One of the old satellite channels no longer around I think.

No it`s not on over here as far as I know Pats. It`s the same stuff repeated over and over. And would love to see C&L back on regualr schedule...along with the Love Boat.
