Good on him! He seems very strong willed, which can only be a major plus!

Oh excellent if he's well enough.
Reading what June said about hanging around makes me think of the oldies in Corrie.

Glad he's on the mend - his absence has affected lots of other people's storylines: Dot, Bradley, Mux, Jack, Patrick - all of them have been treading water a bit, trying to spin out their own storylines/scripts, when there was obviously someone missing.

I hope they`ll treat 'Jim' like they did when Stan Ogden came back to Corrie after his stroke....letting others speak for him.

I'm sure they'll ease him back very gently.
It's amazing how someone like Jim has left that big hole yet in Corrie you wouldn't have noticed his absence. It's a shame John got sick. Jim would have a few things to say about slutty Clare, Mux and Stacey's behaviour and countless other things.

I think he'd be quite smitten with Clare and the show she puts on for the Branning men. Afterall she's been after Bradders, Mux and Jack - so Jim is hardly beneath her. And speaking of Jack it'll be interesting to see how he and his father get on on-screen as we've only heard mentions of them off-screen.

From yesterday's People:
27 April 2008 EASTEN DULLS EXCLUSIVE By Emma Donnan Emma.Donnan@People.Co.Uk
Eastenders' June Brown says she's desperate for her screen hubby to return - because the soap's too dull without him.
Actor John Bardon, 68, who plays Jim Branning, quit after a stroke last summer.
He'll return for a 10- day trial in six weeks and Dot Branning star June, 81, said: "It'll be nice to be back on screen together and hopefully it will be cheerful and funny. I hope he'll add a bit of comedy instead of it being miserable."
Bbc viewers were told Jim has also suffered a stroke and is in a home.
John's comeback could be shown in August. And June admitted his return had encouraged her to sign a new one-year deal after 23 years.
She laughed: "Who knows if I'll ever leave. Some actors keep going until they can't walk or move."
'I can't wait for John to come back.. the show's miserable without him' - WHAT DOT TOLD US
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Interesting she considered leaving if he hadn't returned.

She probably missed Wendy Richard, then John and felt lonely. But then again she's had more scenes with Bradley - so swings and roundabouts.

More than likely. Everyone's going. She must be feeling it and with her partnership with John possibly ended forever who could blame her if she had quit? I'm glad she's staying.

Good that they are bringing him back for a trial and doing it in such a gentle way. I'm surprised about June Brown thinking of leaving at one point, but it must be tough with so many changes in the show over the past few years with the likes of Natalie Cassidy and Wendy Richard bowing out, and then for John to get sick as well.

It always amazes me she's so much older than him. I always think of her as being early 70s. I'm sure the writers will go easy on him and do it sensitively.

I hope it links in with Suzy's arrival and Mux's return, maybe the former will go and visit her dad in his care home.

I think he was gone for 2 months in total on paternity, so he should be back around the middle/end of this month.

From Teletext:
Bardon back on the Square
Actor John Bardon has returned to work on EastEnders, a year after suffering a stroke, writes Jonathan Donald.
Bardon, 68, who plays soap favourite Jim Branning, completed filming his comeback scenes last week.
June Brown, who plays his screen wife, Dot, told This Morning: "John has just done an episode and finished filming last Friday. He's much better, improving all the time."
Bardon has had to learn to walk and talk again since having a stroke last June.
A spokeswoman for the soap confirmed that he was back but refused to detail the storyline. "We don't want to spoil it for the viewers," she said. "It won't be a special episode, but just part of the normal show."
Brown said the comeback episode would air on August 12.

It'll be good to see Jim back.
Another article in that link referred to Scorn and Poxy's wedding. Apparently Scorn takes Bradley's clothes and 'Bradley's left in his pants'. Can't wait!!

Sounds like it's going to be a great episode. From the Mirror:
EastEnders - Jim's birthday surprise 9/08/2008
For a soap that isn’t averse to some unlikely even if entertaining sensationalism when it comes to the Brannings, how refreshing that EastEnders can still address this story of old age, sickness and love with such simple emotion and, at times, humour.
While Jack has slept his way around the Square, Max was buried alive by his bonkers missus Tanya, and Suzy escaped the clutches of some violent villains, their father Jim has survived an unpleasant skirmish with the Grim Reaper.
‘Makes you fink though, dunnit?’ muses Peggy as she helps prepare a 75th birthday party for Jim. ‘Illness. You know, it could ’appen to any one of us… None of us are gettin’ any younger. Heart attack, strokes, cancer…’
Made all the more poignant because John Bardon, the actor who plays Jim, suffered a stroke in real life 14 months ago, his return on Monday is an act of true courage. He may not be able to talk yet, but his expressions speak volumes.
As much as Jim’s devoted wife Dot is livid that Bradley secretly arranges to bring his grandad home – if only for the day – even she can’t resist taking charge, despite her personal misgivings.
‘I’m a terrible, terrible wife,’ she berates herself. ‘But I can’t cope with it, yer see. It’s too much, ’aving you back here.’
She still can’t help but share in the simple pleasure of having their friends and family around them – with one exception. As the cake is brought out and everybody sings Happy Birthday, Max arrives – and his dad turns his back on him.
But despite Dot’s fears, she finally makes a pledge to Jim as he leaves to go back to hospital.
‘I’m gunna ’ave you home,’ Dot promises. ‘Yes, I am. Because I love yer. Yer the one true love of me life. We’ll make it work, won’t we? I ain’t scared no more.’
Here’s to a happy ever after.
