This is a new story of mine, revolving around the Watts family, Zoe and Kate. The story picks up from present day, Den and Kate are having an affair unknown to Chrissie who's marriage with Den isn't all hearts and flowers at the moment. Sharon and Dennis meanwhile are struggling to sort out their emotions and things are awkward between them at the moment.

MONDAY
Den is standing in his living room, peering through the blinds at the busy morning square outside. Chrissie is standing chatting to a lady on the corner while Kat and Alfie lark about outside the Vic. Den looks further across the Square and spots Kate strolling through the gardens with her head down. She looks up towards Den's direction and catches his gaze through the window. Den smirks and moves away from the blinds, picking up his jacket and phone before hurrying through the door and strolling over to Kate.
DEN: Kate... Kate!
KATE: Oh Den, what now?
DEN: Don't be like that, I need to talk to you, meet me at noon in the club OK? Nobody will be there.
KATE: Den, I can't, I'm fully booked.
DEN: Well cancel them!
KATE: No! Look, will you leave it?
Kate storms off in the direction of the nailbar as Chrissie spots Den.
CHRISSIE: Den?
DEN: Hello darlin'... just off to work?
CHRISSIE: Yeah in a bit, where are you going?
DEN: Ah just here and there. Meeting up with an old pal later and then I'll be sorting through the books at the club.
CHRISSIE: Sounds like fun, will you be home in time for tea tonight? I was thinking we could have a sit down dinner, you know the five of us?
DEN: Yeah sure, look I've gotta dash, see you later love.
Den kisses Chrissie on the cheek and dashes off in pursuit of Kate, knowing that Chrissie won't be far behind. He runs into the nailbar just as Kate is coming out the stockroom.
DEN: I'll say this once more, meet me at 12 in the club.
KATE: Den, Chrissie will be here any minute, will you just leave it!
DEN: If you come, you won't regret it. It's important, just say you'll be there!
KATE: No!
Den grabs Kate by the arms and pulls her into the stockroom, shutting the door behind them. He starts to kiss Kate passionately as she gives into temptation. Suddenly they hear a voice.
CHRISSIE: Kate? You here?
Chrissie looks around the nailbar and shrugs to herself before heading into the extension where the hail salon now is.
KATE: Has she gone?
DEN: I think so...
Den opens the stockroom door slowly and peers around it. He pulls Kate out behind him and kisses her again before whispering into her ear.
DEN: Meet me later.
KATE: I'll try.
Den smiles and dashes out of the door just as Chrissie re-appears.
CHRISSIE: Oh, there you are!
KATE: Oh, hi Chrissie, sorry I was in the stockroom and didn't hear you come in!
CHRISSIE: No problem, here come and see this new design I've found.
Kate smiles half heartedly as Chrissie leads the way, but sighs to herself, fed up with the lies and Den's games.
