Are you still having probs, CG? The code was changed the other day so if you are then it can't be that.

Funnily enough Pats, I didn`t have the same problem of it locking up last night the last time I posted. I didn`t know you changed the codes so I just posted twice and then logged out of here as I didn`t want to chance my luck ;D

Well I didn't but the person that did the codes had apparently used something someone else created but now changed it because there was an error as shazzz pointed out.

Well fingers crossed everyone, things are finally back to normal. Hubby installed a new hard drive last week but was still having the same probs. Then this afternoon after church we went to Walmart and bought a new graphics card (128MB) and a new wireless mouse/keyboard (mine crapped out last night) And hooray hooray hale-blooming-loolya things seems ok now. I can even scan photos on my scanner/printer without it locking up. And have added all my animated icons back in place of the boring hourglass/wait icons etc etc. Funny that this was the only site it locked up at though innit, but no more thanks goodness ;D ;D ;D

It seems strange now actually doing a reboot through Windows rather than do a reboot manually. I stayed logged on for 3 days withouit it locking up once ;D

I really am having highs and lows with pc stuff this week. Yesterday I was scanning a pic, and kept getting a paper jam error on my printer even though I wasn`t printing anything at the time. Then there was a huge clanging noise everytime the printer reset itself. It sounded like a manual typewriter returning the carriage. I got hubby to phone Lexmark because in my experience of tech support, I get a lot of BS just because I`m a woman. Well when hubby spoke to them they said it was a hardware problem and they`re sending us a new printer/scanner/copier. We only bought it last August but were unable to use the scanner part of it coz of the pc locking up whenever I used it. We would have got the replacement today but I was at the opticians and DHL left a note on the door to say they`ll deliver it tomorrow instead. How`s that for service huh!

Excellent! By the way, know anything about the glass? Ever since I used a cleaner with lemon a couple of weeks ago, it keeps going sticky so I get marks when I scan. I've tried other glass cleaners and even water which stops it for all of 5 mins. It's bloody annoying.

Have you tried Rubbing Alcohol (Hydrogen peroxide) Pats? You can get it at the chemists and it`s pretty cheap. I use it on my keyboard if I get a sticky key. I`ll pry the affected key off with a pen or knife or whatever is handy, soak a QTip in the rubbing alchol and clean the keys up. it really does a good job.

Hadn't thought if that, CG. I'll see if I can get some tomorrow. Will have more pics to scan and don't want it happening again.

I've found out what's causing it. The stuff they use on the photos! It never used to happen. And I scanned some after having hassles today and it didn't happen so maybe they put too much gloss on. The digital ones I had processed at a difference shop and they don't give me any problems. Grrr!

I used to work in a place that made computer keyboards (amongst other electronics) and it became second nature to me when I was in QA to pry the keys off. The worst one to get off was the space bar
