MURDER CITY IS BACK!
15 Sep 2004
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amanda Donohoe and Kris Marshall once again take on London’s killers for ITV1.
Dynamic detective duo DI Susan Alembic and DS Luke Stone are back to solve four more compelling murder cases in a second series of Murder City for ITV1.
Alembic and Stone are murder detectives, each with a very different approach to crime solving. Alembic is tough, methodical and protective of her frequently misunderstood partner. Stone, on the other hand, is fascinated by the investigations, examining each one from the opposite angle to his colleagues. Together, they unravel the truth behind the city’s extraordinary homicides.
With the help of a relentless Murder Squad, Alembic and Stone take on four new unique cases in the second series of Murder City, which will comprise four 90 minute episodes.
Amanda Donohoe plays DI Susan Alembic. Amanda made her lead debut opposite Oliver Reed in Castaway. She went on to star in several successful films including Liar Liar and The Madness of King George, and numerous TV productions, most famously her Golden Globe winning turn as CJ Lamb in LA Law. In 2002, Amanda received critical acclaim for her role in The Graduate in the West End.
Kris Marshall, who is best known for his role in the BAFTA-nominated and National TV Awards winning BBC sitcom My Family, plays DS Luke Stone. Kris also starred in Granada’s Doctor Zhivago, as well as several feature films, including Deathwatch, Love Actually and the forthcoming Merchant of Venice with Al Pacino. Kris won Best Newcomer at the 2002 Comedy Awards.
First series cast members Tim Woodward, Laura Main, Connor McIntyre, Amber Agar and Alexis Conran also return for the second series of Murder City. So far, Jason Merrells (Cutting It) and Shaun Evans (Teachers) are confirmed to guest star.
Murder City is Executive Produced by Andy Harries, Granada’s Controller of Drama and Comedy, and Francis Hopkinson (Danielle Cable: Eyewitness, The Jury and the forthcoming Colditz) and produced by Mark Hudson (his debut producing role after Line Producing series 1). Robert Murphy is once again the lead writer on the series.
Richard Spence (Promoted To Glory, episodes 3 and 5 of Murder City series one) and Ian Knox (Born And Bred, Silent Witness) will direct two episodes each.
