I was falling asleep through this. I think I should have gone with my original idea of skipping it. I won't be watching next week.

If I remember rightly, Waking the Dead just beat it in the ratings so it will be interesting to see what happens over the rest of the series.

The ratings will be very interesting in the coming weeks especially as the commisioned a second series before the first episode had even aired.
Those of you who are members of the UK boards will have received quite a spread on Vincent in your newsletter emailed out today.

ITV drama has been failing a lot recently, with a lot of high profile series being axed like Making Waves etc. so I agree it will be interesting to see how this one does. I could see them falling over the next few weeks - and maybe the series will go out with a whimper rather than a bang.

I remember ITV had a great drama called 'Peak Practice.' The last series was great, and ended with quite a few cliffhangers for the next series.
TPTB in their wisdom, decided to axe it and replace it with something called 'Sweet Medicine'. It haemorraged viewers, was shifted to the graveyard slot, and sank without trace, ( A bit like making Waves.)

Peak Practice was a great ITV drama, and yes I agree it was annoying that cliffhangers from the last series were never resolved.
Sweet Medicine was poor by comparison and I gave up watching that after a few weeks.

I love a good drama but it seems to me that these days on the whole ITV try to dumb them down or you can tell the original scripts were meant to be much longer but ITV has ordered them cut down to fit a time slot, so there is no real build up or empathy with the characters.
There have been exceptions though. Amnesia was brilliant and very clever and if they repeat that I recommend people watching. However that was a two part thing.
Oh Murder City I really liked that as ongoing series go and can't wait for the 2nd series although I'm guesing it won't be until after Christmas now as there is nothing on it at the press centre yet.
Didn't mind Blue Murder either.
Haven't seen Vincent will look out for the ratings tomorrow for episode 2.

Last night's ratings from Media Guardian:
Over on ITV1, Vincent, starring Ray Winstone as a private detective, was watched by 6.2 million viewers and attracted a 28% audience share between 9pm and 10.30pm.
Vincent added 800,000 viewers compared with last Monday, when it faced stiffer ratings competition from BBC1's Waking the Dead.

One reviewer (could have been Jim Shelley or Ian Hyland) kept calling her Karen McDonald in a review I saw a few weeks ago.
