Did anyone see this drama/documentary on channel 4 on Thursday night..it was very good...but did anyone find the background noise was drowning out the commentary..I could hardly hear it in places for bombs and explosions !!

No I forgot about it. I hate the way they do that these days in documentaries like US ones. Same with a lot of dramas. What's wrong with people hearing the dialogue?? The number of comments I've read on Ceefax complaining about dialogue being drowned out is astounding.

If it's not music blaring it's loud noises in reconstructions. Oh how I long for the olden days without all that and also when ads were quieter than programmes.

I don't watch too many documentaries, but the few that I do watch aren't usually too bad for sound. But it does seem to be a big problem. Like Patsy said there seems to be a constant flow of people complaining on Ceefax pg 523 and also on Teletext at the weekend.
Surely the production companies read these pages?

LOL Nick! Yes they make sure we all hear those all right!
It doesn't look like they do, Eithne. It was like the music in the new Dr Who drowning out so much dialogue. I always thought incidental music was meant to compliment, not drown everything out.
