Casualty episode June 25th

I did enjoy Saturdays episode of Casualty.
I must ask though... what happened to the actor who plays Abs? The scenes he was in were absolutely appalling. It was like he was reading from an autocue.... there was no emotion whatsoever.
I hope Selena doesn`t die....I really like her.
